  1. Between this post and the A20 a few days back, I'm feeling the need to hit the hobby shop and and take a trip down memory lane with a few of these old kits. Both really nice. I've always liked the Blenheim in that mark. The contoured nose is a classic Brit solution. Just proves once again, a real modeler can make anything look great. Thanks for sharing. Chris
  2. I've been helping my son with the Revell version of this car. Its so cool looking but all those curves! Cant wait to see this one progress through the paint phase. Got to break with you on the color, I just cant see anything but red when the name Ferrari is mentioned. Thanks for posting. Chris
  3. Heres a few I've finished in between review projects: The Trumpy 1/72 Sea Fury in the markings of Mig killer H. Carmichael. Straightforward build although the wing fold was a bit tricky. The Revell X-15 in 1/72. Still nice for its age. Tried to duplicate the blue/black color of the real thing. William White, one of the pilots who flew this aircraft to mach 6 passed away this week. The Revell 1/32 Hurricane. This is a reissue of the old kit. The kit is a Mk IIC out of the box so you have to chop off cannons and remove blisters from wing tops. Lots of rivets and raised panel lines but it was a fun build and the markings for Robert Stanford Tuck capped the deal for me. OK one more. A sneak peak at the HobbyBoss 1/48 Tornado IDS. The review for this one should be posted soon. If you like Tornados, you need to get this kit! OK, I did not really build these all start to finish this year. I count them done in the year that happens. Got two reviews projects in the pending pile so back to the bench. Enjoy!
  4. I see the photos and they all look great. Really like the weathering on the Corsair. Very nice work. Thanks for sharing. Chris
  5. What kind of paint did you use? The finish looks very smooth.
  6. Another masterpiece in the making. I like to watch you work. Thanks for sharing. Chris
  7. Well done. The Zero was certainly a beautifully designed airplane. I love the offensive nature of the design. Truly a fighter pilots airplane till someone pulls up on your six with some 50 cal presents. I went through a phase a while back during which I built three Zeros so I kind of got that urge out of me. Never get tired of seeing a well done example though. Thanks for posting. Chris
  8. Airfix kits really bring back the good ole days for me. I too have found the decals don't react at all to solvents but do tend to lay down in spite of their thickness. As long as you gloss up the undercoat, they work very well. The last airfix I built was their B-26. You've produced a very nice model of a timeless subject. Whats not to like? Chris
  9. Very impressive. You've really captured the shape from all angles. Given the medium, that is quite an accomplishment. Did you post the Heinkel too? Great work, thanks for sharing it Chris
  10. I love building these. The joints lines are so easy to fix when needed and the colors really speed up the process. Best of all, when your done you have a mini version of one of the coolest looking airplanes ever designed. Nice job. Thanks for posting it. Chris
  11. You've got nothing to worry about if you think your work can't stand up to the rigors of this gang. I agree with the others in that the weathering is really impressive. It looks like you did some pre/post shading and the exhaust stains are spot on. I'd be proud to display this as its really good work. I'm working on a Russian Lend -Lease version based on the Eduard offering. Really cool thanks for sharing it. Chris
  12. Im so glad I don't what any of you are talking about. Its been 80 degrees here in sunny Southern California. Lucky for me my folks moved from Montreal when I was young so I never had to experience this. Nice job on this one. Thanks for sharing it. Chris
  13. That nosegear looks like its about to fail. Nice finish. Really like the decals. Thanks for sharing. Chris
  14. Really like the paint colors. I built this one a while back in black. Very well done. Chris
  15. I've never tried anything like these other then pilots in airplane models. Very nice work, thanks for sharing with us. Oh and welcome! Chris
  16. Now theres a subject off the beaten path! Very well done. The launch rack really makes the whole thing. Thanks for sharing Chris
  17. Not as impressive as some of the others. 3 P-51Ds, 2 Zeros, 2 Me 109s. The rest are singles. oh and 3 Ferrari F-1 race cars but that another page... Chris
  18. Got two of those myself (14 and 5 years old,) so I'm tracking with you. Makes the moments we can model that much more special. Chris
  19. Very nice work. The weekend edition kits are a nice break from the usaul marathons most of my projects turn into. How long did this one take you? Chris
  20. The model looks great, but that bench is far to clean! Great job and welcome back to the wonderful world of model building. I did the same thing a few years back after a long lay off. Its a great time to be a plastic kit builder, although a bit more expensive these days. chris
  21. I've got no room to grip on this one. I live in Southern California and we don't have seasons like most of the country. I think its cold if the temp goes below 50! My work space is also in the garage to keep little hands away and the solvent smells out of the house. The only thing I do inside anymore is decals. Net effect, the output is about the same all year round. Chris
  22. Those ship models are amazing. I really enjoy your built articles in the journal. Work like that motivates me to slow down and do it right. Thanks for the inspiration. Chris
  23. Looks cool, did it come with interior details? Chris
  24. Theres a subject you don't see often. In fact I dont think I've ever seen one here. Looks like a lot of work especially with alll that glass to see through! The idea of making your own decals is of interest to me. What program do you use and how do get the scale right? You've really created a beautiful and interesting replica here. Thanks for sharing it. Chris
