Now i realize F4U-1a is a very beautiful plane (pictures added)

Very nice, My advice is a light dull coat to tone the shine down a bit. Also, the break between the colors (on fuselage) should be soft as it was sprayed on the real plane. Its a nice job overall and I thank you for posting it. Oh, and Merry Christmas to you. Chris -
Gee I never got a present that nice! Thanks for sharing it. I can't wait for this Holiday hustle to end. Need some bench time! Merry Christmas. Chris

Looks good. I don't know about you, but I always use the pilot/driver if its included in the kit. To me it adds some scale and life to the subject. These kits are hard to find around here. Good work. Thanks for posting.

Nice model, a bit of trivia Ralph Hoffer was shot down (KIA) by the Ace of Aces Erich Hartman. A fine tribute.

Very nice. Saw one of these last year in of all places Downtown Disney just outside Disneyland. There were several 70s era muscle cars on display including one of these. The couple who brought it were the original owners as I recall. Its something you'd leave in your will. Well done. I really like the extras under the hood. Adds a lot. Chris

Built this kit a few years back. I used the Oklahome Kid decals for a bird operated from New Guinea. Not the greatest P-40 model out there but looks the part when done. Its really hard to resist the shark mouth when you build one of these. Nice work overall, especially the wash. If you know anything about China weather it rains a lot so the muddy nature of your wash is right at home on this supject. Thanks for sharing. For a sample of my work check out the the Ferrari 312T2 posted on the homepage reviews. Chris

I manage sewer construction projects here in Los Angeles and we deal with moving equipment like this all the time. The loads include equipment like this and recently 7 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs). In LA you can only move at night on a predetermined route with these kind of rigs. What was the motivation for building this setup? Where did you get plans for the excavator? I think those of us who do this kind of work never outgrew our Tonka trucks, they just got bigger! Excellent work any way you look at it. Thanks for sharing. Chris -
I don't think I could resist. Enjoy! Chris

A work of art. Very nice. Chris

My last helo was the old 1/48 Monogram Hind. Its in the review section on this site. I recently got some nice photos of Blackhawks in Iraq. I might take that on next. Chris

I go on vacation for a week and come back to see this kind of work. In a word, incredible. Who produced the kit? Chris

Now I know why so many biplane models never make it out of the my stash. I've never come close that that level of work. The prop sets off the whole thing. I too would love to see some more pics especially the rigging. Thats the part that keeps me from building biplanes. Excellent job Chris

Wow thats a lot of really good stuff. I guess I need to invest a couple bucks if I want quality shots. Thank you for all the advice Mike. Stay tuned for the results. Chris

Ok I've got the gear right in front of me. My Nikon D70 came with a 18-70mm 1:3.5-4.5G telephoto lens and I have a Nikon Speed light SB-600 flash. Does that help?

All very helpful information. I'm almost looking forward to shooting my next project. Thanks for the feedback.

Let me get the specs and we'll talk some more

This is a topic thats needed discussion for a while now. I joined the review team a while back and for the most part really enjoy doing it. I say for the most part because the aspect of it I don't like is photographing the projects. I have a Nikon D70 with a separate flash so I dont think the camera is the issue. My problems appear as depth of field issues because I dont have enough exposure time or the correct apparature setting? I do not have a tri pod which looks to be essential in this process. As for the RAW issue, I don't intend to start doing that but I would guess you can still shoot great pictures without using that format? The review moderator asks for lots of close up detail and I just can't capture that without the aforementioned depth of field problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would rather do without the movable parts. I really liked them when I was younger. Remember the Monogram Phantom P-51! Somehow I managed to put it together with all the functioning parts working when I was maybe 12 years old. It was so cool to play ...uh show my friends how it worked. Funny I built one a few years back and could not repeat that success. Plastic is just not a material that supports the small scale hinges and pins needed to move parts. But movable tank turrets, thats a must.

I was seven years old when this happened and my wife was just born. Of all the things we've accomplished, this for me tops them all. We could use a bit of the pioneering sprit that made this possible right now. We can do great things when we want to. Very nice job. Thanks for posting it. Chris

Really nice work. I don't model figures with exception of pilots in aircraft models. In particular, I like the faded worn look of the fabrics. I can almose feel those cotton fatiques! Very cool. Thanks for sharing Chris
