  1. I know it's been awhile, so in the spirit of increasing participation in this Forum, here are some pics of some of the work I got done between jobs all last week. I'll start with my Staghound and the Br-52 Lokomotive. I took these to Hobby Day again where I was able to work on them for about five straight hours. The result is that the lower hull of the Staghound is finished. All it needs are the wheels and then I can start on the turret: On the Lokomotive, I finished the coal tender and also got about a third done on the engine itself. I did complete the interior of the cab. Here it is: And the cab interior: That is about all the progress on my armor so far. I did start another ACE gun, but didn't get far enough to justify pics. And now on to my Shipyards. I have made a small amount of progress on my two French ships. The Charles de Gaulle has finally got a smooth enough join on the lower sponsons that run the length of the ship on both sides. I kept finding seams and imperfections for awhile. Now, after four attempts, and three coats of Mr. Surfacer, I am finally satisfied with the way the hull looks now: Here it is with the island dry fit to the upper deck. You can see that I did a preliminary painting of the windows. Gotta touch them up next: Now on the Richelieu, I installed all the deck fixtures. The only things missing are the stacks of life rafts and the weapons. Next up is the superstructure: Next I figured since I was building two French ships, why not three? This is Heller's Jeanne D'Arc helicopter carrier. It is a it bigger in scale than I like, but what the hey..... The main deck and superstructure are dry fit on the hull. You can see there's quite a bit of fit issues on this kit. Typical Heller.... That's all I got going on in the shipyards so far. Now on to my Aircraft.... Only one in the works right now. It is the Testor's C-130 H model that I got as a gift from a friend. I'm finally getting it done so I can clear out another large box. I have a few more aircraft I plan on starting along side this one; I'll post pics of them when I get started. Here is the cockpit assembled so far. Just need to paint it: Next I went and assembled the wings and tail surfaces. Gets that out of the way quick: I should make short work of this one soon. I'm looking forward to having it hanging on my ceiling. Well, that's another edition of Maddog Manufacturing's production report. I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks all for looking and comments are welcome.
  2. Awesome! Thanks for the update Pyrman. Hopefully I'll be able to get more now.
  3. Looking good! Good to see you beat this beast into submission! That looks good enough to crawl into.
  4. Beautiful! extremely impressive. I wonder if they still had these during the re-unification? I'd like to build one in West German markings....
  5. Thank Pyrman for letting me know what part A-32 is. I appreciate it.
  6. Right now, I'm working on an RPM Staghound in 1/72 scale, a Trumpeter Br-52 Lokomotive in 1/72 scale (2) Dragon SdKfz 251 D's in 1/72 scale. One will have a Pak 36 mounted on it and the other is a straight APC. I also started two more 1/72 scale ACE guns and three ACE BRDM variants in 1/72 scale: one an anti-aircraft version, the other two anti-tank versions for my Iraqi Army.
  7. I had one packed to go but nobody from my club who was going was willing to bring it. Sorry.
  8. The Hare is about two-three inches shorter than the Sea Knight actually. If you'd like, I'll take a shot of the two side by side. Just let me know.
  9. Thanks for setting me straight. So you know what the angled boxes are then? I'd like to know now that I found out I was told wrong. I do appreciate you clearing that up for me. MP40 was what I was trying to remember too. Thanks again for reminding me of that as well.
  10. Cool. Where do we send them? I have quite a few 1/72 scale Middle East armor models to send to it too.
  11. Thanks Steve! Yeah, I like having the Mi-1 in my inventory now.
  12. When I built this model I was told that the part A32 in these instructions was a box holding spare clips for the grease guns (parts B33/B34) that they have clipped to the side next to the driver and radio operator. They were to be painted German grey. At least that is what I did on mine.
  13. Thanks Mark! I tried to blow them up enough so the Optivisor wasn't needed, but I guess not.
  14. Good to know you Mark! I also want to build as much of the Middle East Wars stuff as I can get too. Mine will all be in 1/72 scale though. I've been wanting to build all the Syrian PzIII and IV's, Jagdpanzer IV's and Hummels that they had as well. I have a sizable Egyptian and Israeli Army already built up, as well as a semi-respectably sized Iraqi Army.
  15. To be honest, it was actually quite a bit of Gator Grip Glue. The three pieces of the canopy/clear parts are not very well molded and did not connect well. What you see is the result of my attempts to sand the ridged down where the connections were off. I used the Gator Grip Glue to glue these and then taped them in the best possible arrangement I could but there were still noticeable ridges at the connection points when I removed the tape. Before all this, I did dip the parts in Future, It was later sanded off, so I brushed more Future on it after re-sanding the canopy parts with successively finer sanding grits to smooth it out as much as possible. On this model I didn't use as liquid masking agent. However, the one I mostly use is Hobbyco Liquid Masking Agent. It seems to work the best for me, leaving the least residue and being easiest to remove. I know my canopy isn't the best on that Russian helicopter, but I think after all had been done to it, it came out fairly well. I'm actually pretty happy that it came out as well as it did. Thanks again for the comments, and the good questions Michael! I appreciate it. Feel free to check out the finished helicopter in the Aircraft Forums.
  16. Thanks Von. I almost have no choice but to build the unusual stuff. I've already built everything else! :D ;) :o Thanks again for the reply.
  17. Thanks guy! Yeah, I keep busting them out as much as I can. I have slowed down a little, but should have some more progress to show in another day or so. Thanks again for the reply. Most of these are finished already and posted in their respective Forums.. If you haven't already, feel free to check them out.
  18. I just use two pair. One angled and one straight. Both are surgical tweezers I got from the nurse who removed my stitches. I also got a set of surgical scissors that way too that I use for cutting decal sheets. They are especially helpful when it comes to some of those small sheets with the decals so close together.
  19. Nice! I'm also an infrequent visitor to the Whiffer's Forums as well. I did a "What if?" Tirpitz once that I still have. Cool. Mayne I'll dust it off and fix it up and bring it to the Phoenix Nats if they have a What If SIG table.
  20. Thanks Phillip. Yes, these M-60's come with separate roadwheels molded in pairs that you have to add to the torsion bars. They do not need to be modified like the M-48's. The tracks are more detailed as well on the M-60's. Great little models, I'm so glad to have gotten them finished.
  21. Thanks Gil. I appreciate it. I think the cartoon character you're thinking about may be Mighty Mouse. I kind of see that in this one. It was a pretty pleasant build despite the issues with the canopy and the main rotors. I'm glad I have it in my inventory.
  22. Thank you Dave. In truth, I was working on 15 models at the same time. I just happened to finish these and the helicopters first. I find the time wherever I can. Usually two or three hours a day after job hunting and housework. Thanks again, I appreciate the compliment very much!
  23. That;s right, seven armor models finished. Two artillery pieces and five tanks. First the Artillery. Here they are: Completed: ACE 1/72 scale German 7.5cm Pak 50 German Army 1944: Completed: ACE Russian F-22 76mm Field Gun Russian Army 1942: Now the tanks... Completed: PST 1/72 scale Russian KV IE Ekranami 86th Tank Battalion Leningrad Front 1941: Completed: Revell of Germany 1/72 scale German M-48 A2 Patton, PzBtl 24 Braunsweig 1962: Completed: Revell of Germany 1/72 scale M-60 A1 Patton with ERA, Italian Army Somalia 1993: Completed: Revell of Germany 1/72 scale M-60 A1 Patton with ERA, US Marine Corps, Desert Storm 1991: Completed: Revell of Germany 1/72 scale M-60 A3 Patton with Dozer Blade, US Army 8th infantry Dev., 4th Battalion,/69th Armor: 'Nuff said. I also finished two helicopters. They are in the Aircraft Forums. Feel free to check them out too. Thanks all for looking, comments are welcome.
  24. Two of my three helicopters are finished. Here they are: Completed: Gran Models 1/72 scale Russian Mi-1 Hare Soviet Air Force 1950 Completed: Hobby Boss 1/72 scale CH 46 Sea Knight, US Marines HMM 262: 'Nuff said. More armor models finished in the Armor Forums as well. Check them out too if you like. Thanks for looking. Comments are welcome.
  25. Why I build.... At first as a kid, I built because 1) I enjoyed seeing something being made by my own hands. 2) I enjoyed making a model of something military come to life. and 3) I was always trying to keep up in the 'arms race' between myself and my two modeling friends. Now it is because I enjoy building. I build also to relax and get away from the stresses of life. I build for the camaraderie, compliments, comments, and suggestions I get at meetings, shows and contests. And finally, I keep building on the off chance someone wants to challenge me to another wargame; collection vs. collection as happened in the good old days! Now what I build; not necessarily in this order: 1) 1/72 scale aircraft, all eras, all countries, all types. 2) 1/72 scale armor, all eras, all countries, all types from jeeps to massive supertanks (i.e. Maus, E-100). 3) Ships. Military ships mostly in 1/700 scale, but will build in 1/500 and 1/600 scale if I can find them in that scale; particularly battleships and carriers. I also build miscellaneous civilian ships and boats in various scales ranging from 1/385 to 1/500 scale. 4) Buildings, fortifications and structures in HO/OO and 1/72 scale. I gotta have something for my armor and troops to fight for! 5) Occasionally a car; but only if it catches my fancy. Typical examples are any Tom Daniel's cars, anything 1930's era or maybe even a luxury type or two. Some TV/Movie cars as well. 6) Occasionally a Sci-Fi subject. Usually that is something from a favorite show (Babylon 5 space station) or from a great memory (Eagle One transporter: Space 1999) That is all I have so far. Thanks for asking such a great question.
