  1. Thanks guys for the great replies! Here's some more for you to check out. Well, here it is three months later and I finally managed to get enough bench time in to be able to make enough progress to show. Actually, that ain't all true. I did manage to get some work done last month during St. Crispin's Hobby Day. I'm also doing a Helicopter Group Build on Hobbylink Int. and that is almost finished. Enough rambling, I'll show that one first. Here is my 1/72 scale Fujimi KV107 Sea Knight. Looks finished, doesn't it? It ain't. I got a little more detail touch up paint to do and then dullcoat it and it'll then be finished. Meanwhile, I also did some sanding on the 1/48 scale Monogram F-106 Dart that I'm building for a friend. He's the same friend I gave the F-102 Dagger to. This is now masked and ready for paint once the liquid mask on the windshield dries: Moving along, I also added the windscreen to my little Cessna Skymaster. What an incredible gap! Well, that was three weeks ago. I've since filled it in, sanded it down and today I was able to build on the wings and tail: A couple more parts to install, and that one will be ready for paint. Finally, I got pics of the progress I made on the project I started for the Summer Break Group Build over on the LEM. This is the 1/72 scale Armageddon Panzerzeug Bp44 armored train. From now on, I'll just call it 'the armored train'. I also purchased the complement set that goes with this so the entire train can be built. (The kit only comes with half of it) Once it is finished, this model will have twelve total railcars in it, including the locomotive and tender. It will stretch for at least 5 feet. I'll be buying some more Trumpeter rail supplements that they sell separately. I'll start of course with pics of the armored locomotive and tender. You can see this is a really rough kit with some serious fit issues. I had to do a lot of sanding to get these to fit together this well! Next is the Geschutzwagen which will have a turret on it when I work out how to make it turn. Here they are all together on the rails: I'm going to hate sanding away so many of those rivets, but I don't have a choice given the gaps I have to fill. I had started on the Kommandowagen too, but not enough to warrant a pic. Well, that's all I got done so far. Maybe in a few days I'll be able to get even more done. I still have to get to a hobby shop and pick up some more colors. I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, thanks for looking; comments are welcome.
  2. That looks awesome! Someday I'm gonna have to get a dozer assembly for some of my 1/72 scale Shermans.
  3. Looks awesome Kenny! Way to go!
  4. Thanks for the pic. That would look good as spilled fuel on a Russian tank or something. Or maybe as oil leaking from an old WWII aircraft engine. Too bad it's not around anymore.
  5. Have you a picture of the bottle? I wouldn't mind getting a bottle or two myself if it is what I think it is.
  6. Cool! This way I can "sniff out" your models Ken! LOL! Can't wait!
  7. Oh man, this makes me wish it was REAL!! Awesome! Can't wait to see more. This one is bookmarked.
  8. Only because I don't foresee ever reaching that level. All I can do right now is overwhelm with quantity! LOL! Don't worry, I'll keep building....
  9. I think I have several Airfix armor boxes still around. I'll try to shoot pics of them for you as well.
  10. Wow, after seeing that Lanc and those pothers, I think it's time to hang up my Exacto. Awesome pics Peter, thanks for the link.
  11. Man, these are cool Ed! You are a man ahead of your time!
  12. Thanks Bob! No, no fooling there. In fact those pics are two years old. I've built about 110 more models since they were taken. Gotta take a few new ones soon to update the room.
  13. No argument there Kevin! I love looking at those incredible dioramas!
  14. Don't worry Mark, I have slowed down dramatically myself due to some non-stop home repair jobs I've been picking up. Working long days and coming home too beat to do anything makes it tough to get anything done. I'm heading to St. Crispin's tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be able to get some progress done on some models. Dave, you honor me,. I'm not all that great. Everything you see is OOB and not all are award-winning quality, so I can't lay any claim to true greatness. I do build these as best I can with he skills I have. Please pass on my thanks to your daughter; it's rare that a young lady is appreciative of our hobby and so her comment is most appreciated. Chris, that is an awesome link. Those dioramas are beyond incredible. Thank you for posting that. Interesting. The only time I ever got published in a local paper was when my Christie Firetruck was published in an article profiling my local club's model display in a public library. I've never been published for my collection. It's okay, fame is fleeting and I'm happy doing what I'm doing. Thanks again guys!
  15. Wow, I'm stunned! I could not help but laugh out loud in total surprise when I saw this first post!! James, thank you ever so much, you honor me more than I deserve. Don't worry about 'outing' me, I am thrilled at your post recognizing "Maddog Manufacturing". I had actually posted this sometime before; at least a year or to ago, and hadn't gotten nearly this many replies as you have. Thank you again. Tell me, did you post this on Hyperscale as well? I'd love to see some of those replies! By the way, my collection of finished models has surpassed 1000 in count. It may even be close to 1100 by now. That's what you are seeing in these pics. Now you know why I post my Threads with the name 'Maddog Manufacturing'. That name was actually given to me by someone on the LEM. Tom, no flak from me. As others have said, I build for me and I have fun! Some of my models are award winning beautiful builds, as I have tried and utilized every technique I can learn to make them as best I can. You can see some of those results in many of my most recent "Completed Builds" Threads when I post a finished model. Aside from those recent builds, many of the models in the above pics are, by today's standards, very poorly built and painted. Many of my earliest models look like a seven-year-old built them, as indeed I did when I was seven. I still have every model I ever built in my life with the exception of the following: 12 that were broken beyond repair during moves, six that were built and given as gifts or commission builds, and seven that were stolen from displays or shows. I appreciate your honesty and forthrightness, and I shall be as honest as you: I know there are a few who wouldn't be impressed by such a prolific display, but then again, as I mentioned above, I build for myself and I have fun! Thank you Tom for your honest post. And I especially appreciate all the other great comments and compliments from everyone else. It is these kinds of positive comments that keep me building more and better models. The more I see the more motivated I get to keep building more, as such great comments simply enhance the fun of this great Hobby! Thanks again to everyone!
  16. Kevin, my condolences as well. and my appreciation for his service. Keep those memories alive and you'll know he is never truly gone.
  17. Still working on getting one.
  18. Wow, it's been a busy month and I finally got some time on the bench today. I have to get up early for work tomorrow so this will be a quick report. I managed to get a lot of sanding done on two of the aircraft I'm working on. I didn't take pics because, well.... there really isn't much to see. I also clearcoated the Japanese Sea Knight, but didn't take pics of that either. It's only shinier than it was before. I did get substantial work done on five of my armor models, and these are the ones I'll show you now. I'll start with the two ancient ESCI ambulance kits I'm building. I decided to shoot them with the Dunklegelb basecoats, but ran out before I could finish them. Here they are: The Halftrack ambulance first: The Opel ambulance next. You can see where I ran out: Next, I basecoated the Pegasus Hobbies Marine Corps M-26 Pershing. I forgot the back, but I'll get that later: Damn, now I gotta fix another stupid roadwheel on this tank! Finally, I painted the tracks for the two Dragon German tanks and added the P/E screens to their decks. While they were drying, I basecoated all the above vehicles, and then came back to basecoat these two. Here's the Tiger I Initial: And now the Panther that will become "Cuckoo": Okay, that's all for now. I'm beat so I'm heading off to hit the sack. Thanks for looking, comments are welcome.
  19. thanks Rob. I appreciate to. I'm glad to get it on the shelf..
  20. Another thread reminded me of another series of models that always bring a smile to my face: The old MPC 'Profile Series' aircraft. I loved building them and always dreamed of getting every box Maybe someday.
  21. Thanks Lee. I was trying to find all the references I could to see where to place the markings. I finally found a good one and I'm real happy with this little beast.
  22. I may have something to start for this Build. I'll have to check my stash.
  23. Interesting. I thought it was one model per person per month. That is what I was told when I sent pics of three different models for inclusion in the Gallery one time. Dick managed to get two published this month. Does this mean things have changed? Can someone now submit multiple submissions per month? (within reason of course!) I'd love to know, as I have quite a few I wouldn't mind sending in for publication.
  24. Welcome to the Forums. Looking forward to your Group Build.
