That's beautiful James. Incredible work. That would have looked fantastic on the tables in Phoenix!
-
True. They did get it right. And at least you got yours from Dragon! Mine were all ACE kits; short run models that took some work to assemble, but built into nice models. ACE is the only company that makes these in my scale. Keep these gems coming!

Looking great Chris! I've built a few of these in 1/72 scale too. There's just something about this brute....
-
Welcome Gary! Feel free to post some pics of your work. It's always great to meet another modeler.

That is so awesome! And your photo-chop ain't bade either! That would be so cool being able to have something like that in my collection!

"Hello! My name is Gil and I'm a modelholic"!
Mark Deliduka replied to ghodges's topic in General Modeling
"Hi Gil!" I haven't had time, with my four days off to do anything on any mode;ls. I have so much paperwork to fill out and then I have to find all my instruction sheets and so on, and so on, and so on... Maybe I'll work on something today, just to give myself a rest. -
Here's my spraybooth. Just as simple and affordable:

No, unfortunately. It is the closest thing to 1/72 I could get since nobody makes a kit of these in 1/72 scale. Hey, you got to admit, it is still 'small scale'! If they did make one in 1/72 scale, you can bet your life that I'd build it! See you in Phoenix with the rest of my 100 models!

I agree Chris. That would be a blast. I know one can buy a ride on the Goodyear Blimp, but it is prohibitively expensive. Not quite the same thing either. Thanks for the compliment and I'll certainly enjoy myself while I'm out of the heat.
-
Sounds like it was a blast. Thanks for relating that. Someday maybe I'll get the chance too.

Cool. Still an awesome model. I love what you did here.

Thanks Bob. Yeah, these were the passenger liners of the 30's. I would have loved to fly one. Too bad they don't have any of these anymore. What a trip it would be to take a cruise in one of these!

Sweet! That must have been awesome! And to think I have completed models of all those jets! BTW, I'm bringing my Sabre Dog to Phoenix.

Just a small update before I prepare for Phoenix. I got the decals on both my Pershing and Cuckoo. I had also tried again to paint Cuckoo on the sides of the turret, but no go. I'm still not happy with these. I did try to find some white letters the right size in my decal stash, but I'm always short a couple of letters. I need 4 'o's, and 4'c's,. Tough to find in my decals stash; which is amazing since I have 35+ years of spare decals in there! Anyway, here's the progress pics. Yes, they are still shiny; I'd just put the decals on previously and I still want to do washes before I seal these in dullcoat. Cuckoo needs her name re-done, a wash, dullcoat, drybrush and weathering. Then I can add the tracks and she'll be done: The Marine Pershing is almost finished. I need to fix a couple of silvered decals, wash it, dullcoat, drybrush and then weather it. Then I can add the tracks to this one and call it done: That's about all I have for now. This will probably be my last update until after Phoenix. Thanks all for looking, comments are welcome. See you on the flip side.

Thanks Mark! Yeah, I like them too. Sleek, sexy and easy to build! I always thought that the horizontal tail surfaces were too small though.....

Beautiful job! Awesome camo and you did spectacular on the mud! Way to go Chris!
-
Nicely done Chris! Great job! You gonna dirty her up? I also love the base; you got the mud puddles down pat!
-
Thanks James! I think so too!

Thanks guys! I am real happy with this model! Can't wait to get it to Phoenix!

Here is my latest finished model just in time for the Nats. It is here in the Aircraft Forum because it is an airship and it flies. I won this model as a raffle prize at Orangecon 2009. May I present the Lindbergh 1/245th scale Graf Zeppelin: And just to give you an idea of how big this model is: I measured it out at three feet two inches in length. I had to take it out and shoot the pics of it sitting on the hood of my truck! There was no place in the house that I could pose it. The gondola comes with a complete interior. I took a pic of it here to show the interior after I painted it: I winged it when it came to the colors since despite all my efforts, I couldn't find any info on what the interior colors looked like. So, they ain't accurate, but they look good! The silver looking globes in the middle are lights. Yes, the kit came with a light kit inside and so the gondola lights up: Well, there she is, the largest model I've built since the B-36. It was a pretty fun build and I'm thrilled to have her finished! For those going to Phoenix, you'll be able to see this in person. That's all for now. Thanks all for looking in; comments are welcome.

Wow, that 'paper' airplane is coming along nicely. Thanks for the blow-by-blow account of how you've assembled the difficult assemblies. I know I'm part of this Group Build, so I think it's time I showed my progress. I'm building the F-86F "MiG Mad Marine" alongside a Japanese Self Defense Force F-86, so these pics will include both aircraft. After all, they are almost the same kit so I figured why not build them both? Here are the two cockpit/air intake assemblies I did. This was before I added the cockpit decals: My apologies for the blurriness. I took this at St. Crispin's Hobby Day and had left my tripod at home. Here are the two Sabres assembled for the most part. Now to sand them down a bit, fill some seams and add more detail parts. The one to the right is "MiG Mad Marine": Okay, thanks all for looking, comments are welcome.

Thanks Mark! Lately this 'machine' has needed a little oil, as I've slowed down considerably from what I'm used to.

Thanks Guys! Ed, maybe you're right. after all the helos Godzilla destroyed they may be very short now. Thanks for the great comments guys!

Man, I love reading about these experiences and incidences. I was never able to serve (Tourette's Syndrome) so I can only experience this kind of thing through others stories. Both the Air Force and Navy experiences are great to read about. Thanks for sharing your lives guys!

Thanks Chris. I know what you mean. I got some fat fingers too, which made me give up the guitar which I loved to play. My eyesight is pretty bad too; I need glasses to drive. Fortunately, all I have to do is take them off to see my work. I'll keep building these little gems until I can no longer do it. Thanks again for the great comment.
