  1. Thanks Dave! Unfortunately, nobody makes a US command vehicle in 1/72 scale. I'm going to try and do a conversion of an M-113 track to an M-577 command track if possible, but I'm not too confident at this time. Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Oh, and I need to take a new pic. I inadvertently left out two of my Dragon Shermans: both the 105mm tanks! Stay tuned....
  2. That is a fantastic looking plane! I just night have to pic a few of these up.

Beautiful job Glenn! That looks extremely well done in my opinion and as mentioned before, your camouflage works very well in the backyard! And if you wish to catch up to me, now's the time. I'll be spending time cleaning and organizing the Hobby Room and taking some updated pics of some of my models now that I have a new camera. Bring it on bro!
  4. Oh yes, I'm definitely holding on to this. Mine was issued without figures or a base or anything. It was just the parts for the Farmhouse itself. Maybe an earlier issue had the figures and battle set. I wouldn't mind having the battle set though, but that is going to be awhile.
  5. Thanks guys! Great replies! I appreciate it very much!
  6. Thanks Gil! I got that idea looking at buildings and seeing the dirt kicked up by rain and other splatter. Thanks Mark! Great minds think alike; I did the same thing. Jack, thanks! I thought so too; that's why I got it. I had thought to put a WWII Allied command group in there on a Dio base someday. Thanks James. I think it had been out of production awhile, this one was released a few years back. Thanks again for the great replies guys!
  7. Thanks Ken. I'm still laughing about it too. Looking forward to Phoenix.
  8. I can't! I gotta Keep On Rocking! I gotta make it to the Top..... Oops, different song..... Sorry, I got carried away there for a minute. Thanks for the great compliment! This is probably the first time this year that I don't have more than five models in progress at the same time. I have only four more ito finish: a train, a plane, and two more French ships. Hmmmm....... what to work on next.....
  9. Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! I didn't know the wings were supposed to be swept forward. I thought it was a flaw in the molding! So I shaved and sanded them to be more straight! My bad! I found out after it was too late that they were supposed to sweep forward! Thanks Ken!! For your prize, you get two beers on me at the Phoenix Nats! See you then! Greg, thanks for the compliment. Glad to see you stop in.
  10. Thanks Ed! I appreciate the compliments. First, the holes: The entrance door holes are on the opposite side of the rings that hold the door hinges. I'm not sure what to do about filling them without gluing the hinges on the doors. They are supposed to swing open and shut. Hmm, you may have given me an idea with your mention of 'trim pieces'. I could glue some styrene strip over them to make them look like door posts. Thanks! Ed! The holes on the roof peaks are possibly heat vents. There were no trim pieces in the model on the sprues that were supposed to go there. I am only missing one other piece and it is the post holding up the roof over the back exit. Now, for painting the bricks, I did a full coat of the light brick color first. When it was dry, I applied a thick coat of a dark brown color over the bricks and immediately wiped it off, leaving the color in the mortar grooves. It also made the bricks look slightly dirty too, which was all the better. Thanks again for the compliments on the brickwork.
  11. LOL! Thanks for the great replies guys!! I love it! . Ed, good guesses, but that isn't what I was aiming for. The arrowheads are not aligned because the decal on one side broke and ended up shorter than the other. The Maple leafs on the wings are pretty well aligned, the angle of the pics makes them look more off. No this is something bigger. If you aren't familiar with this plane, you will completely miss it. I sure did till it was too late! Thanks Gil. Yeah, I'm building this for one of the guys who was a top program manager on the development of the Dagger. I figured he'd really love it opened up like that. Otherwise I would have done the same thing you did! Glenn, just lucky I guess..... Thanks for the great compliments! As for the Snowbird, tail is on correctly! Try again! Good answer Ed! I'm glad I have you around to help with the difficult historical questions!
  12. Thanks for the compliment Dave! Wait no longer; everything is posted in the Armor Forums already. Feel free to check them out. meanwhile, I'll be watchign for your pics of your Tiger. Thanks again! Gee, this is the first time I have less than six models on the bench waiting for me to finish them! I wonder what I'll start on next......
  13. Since I have no idea where else to post this, I'm posting this here. It is not a diorama, but it is a building which would go on one. This is my Airfix 1/72 scale La Haye Sainte Waterloo Farnhouse. It is complete all except for the base: This will be used at the Anaheim Muzeo for their Napoleon wargame table, and then I'll being it home and put it on a base. I might even use it as my armor photo base for taking pics. Thanks all for looking, comments are welcome.
  14. Okay, as promised; I have here my most recent armor models completed. There is a bonus at the end of this post too for your enjoyment, as mentioned above. For some reason, my camera never seems to pick up the dusty weathering too well. Oh well, I'll have to experiment. Anyway, here they are. First is my Airfix 1/72 scale German Recon Group consisting of an Sd Kfz 222 armored car and a Kubelwagen. I made them early war: Next is my 1/72 scale Trumpeter M-113 A2 APC. I need to find the gun again: And finally, I have achieved a milestone! I have built at least one each of every version of the M4 Sherman released by Dragon in 1/72 scale!! In some cases, I built multiple versions of the same tank (i.e. Sherman Firefly) The last version released by Dragon was an M4A2 (75mm) 'Beute' Sherman. It had only one decal option: captured German. So, I bought two and made one a Russian Lend Lease Sherman using aftermarket decals from ACE's Lend Lease decal set. Here is the first Sherman the way it was meant to be built: And now here is my version from the Russian Army: And now for the 'bonus' I told you about. Here are two 'family group' pics of my entire Dragon Sherman collection. Pretty cool eh? That's about all for now. Feel free to check out the Aircraft, Ships and General Modeling forums for my latest models there. Thanks all for looking, comments are welcome.
  15. Okay, as promised; here are the most recent aircraft I finished. This first one was a gift from Tim Herriman. It is in 1/72 scale and finally completed. I had a bear of a time getting the vac-formed canopy to fit right! Now when I made this, I made one fundamental mistake because I didn't pay attention. I'll let you guys try and figure it out: Here it is, my Canadian Zlin Z-142C: Next, I finished the Monogram 1/48th scale F-102 Delta Dagger for my friend. All it needs now are the missiles. I'm still waiting for them to dry: This last one is a fun little project I did as part of a speed building contest. At our annual IPMS Orange County BBQ and pool party, we had a contest. Each person was to pick a plane and see how much they could complete in two hours. I was the only one to get to the painting stage and so I won first place! Later, I took it home to finish it with the decals and everything. Here it is, my prize-winning Japanese Zero Egg Plane: My prize for this contest was the Monogram 1/24 scale see-through fully working P-51 Mustang. Okay, these are all my planes finished. Feel free to check out the Armor, Ships and General Modeling Forums for my latest completed models. Thanks all for looking, comments are welcome.
  16. Thanks Bob! I appreciate that. I look forward to seeing what you get done. I know you do outstanding work so it's a treat seeing your models. Tim, thanks. The Staghound had a few issues with the hull fitting together. Most of them were able to be taken care of with a little Mr. Surfacer 500 while one or two needed some fuller. Otherwise everything else was a breeze. I had no problems getting the suspension right so the wheels would all sit on the ground. Overall a nice little kit but the instructions were a bear to follow. I have another Staghound to build from RPM but I'm gonna take my time getting to it. Thanks again for the great comments guys!
  17. Gill, thanks for the compliment on the F-102. I'm building it for the former project manager of development for that aircraft. I hope to get it tor him soon. As for the Waterloo Farmhouse. I do have a couple plans for it. A local museum is doing a three-month long exhibition on Napoleon. Part of that exhibition is being provided by another group I'm associated with, the St. Crispin's Irregulars. They have set up a large wargaming table to re-enact any one of the battles Napoleon fought in. One gentleman I know already has over 2000 Napoleonic miniatures in 1/72 scale painted and set up on bases for wargaming. He'll be bringing them in to show off as well as to use to re-enact the battle of Waterloo in a table top wargame. So yes, John and Dennis for awhile, this farmhouse will be surrounded by 2000 French and British troops during those wargames. I'll try to get pics of it for you during one of the battles. After that, I was thinking of setting it on a base and using it as a photo base with a background behind it to shoot pics of my 1/72 scale armor once they are finished. Thanks again for the great comments guys!
  18. Anyway, as promised, more pics are posted. Check them out. Oh, by the way, everything you see posted here will be finished the next time I post pics. So, here's a preview of everything that is almost finished. First off, my KiTech 1/600 scale Charles de Gaulle. All the decals are on, and most of the final fiddly bits are installed. I painted the aircraft for the air wing. The Hawkeye E-2's still need to be assembled as does the Dauphin helicopter. I had some issues with the deck decals silvering, and fixed them in the usual way. Didn't work like I wanted it to. Hopefully a coat of Future over the deck will fix it. Next is my 1/48th scale Monogram F-102 Delta Dagger. Decals are on. Now all I need to do is add the final detail parts and weapons: On to my Armor. Most of these just need a dullcoat, drybrush and weathering My 1/72 scale Airfix German Recon set: My two Dragon 1/72 scale M4A2 (75mm) Shermans. Finished the painting; I need to decal these and then finish with the dullcoat, drybrush and weathering: And finally my Trumpeter M-113 A2. I'll be making this an APC instead of an ambulance: And last but not least, here is something I had started awhile ago and then tossed in my closet and forgot about. This is my Airfix 1/72 scale Waterloo Farm House. While reorganizing recently, I found it again. I decided that it's about time this gets finished. So, I painted in the grout, painted and washed the roof, and then painted and drybrushed the wooden doors and structures. All that is needed now is some touchups and weathering: Now all I have to do is build a base for this.... That's all my progress so far. Look for these models in their respective forums because they'll be done in a day or so.
  19. This is true Glenn. In this case however, I used all the parts! When I finished it, I went back to see what was left on the sprues and .....nothing! I guess I built it right then..... So much fun. I think I have a T-28 Trojan in the stash without instruction. I may try that one too.....
  20. Thanks John R. Maybe you should try and see if one of the companies would allow you to build one of their test shots for a promo spot. I know someone who does that. They would give you the instructions, but you could always leave them in the box... John W. that was one of the things I was afraid of doing. Fortunately, I didn't have to worry on this little model. Thanks for the comments guys!
  21. Thanks Ed! I'm glad you like it and I appreciate the compliment. I had fun with this little model. I don't know if instructions for a C-130H would help, but if they would, I could forward you the instructions for mine when I'm done.
  22. Wow, I just scrolled though this Thread. It's pretty cool seeing the progress happening in each post! LOL!
  23. Well, here's a little more progress done so far. I concentrated on aircraft and armor this time. I got the camo pattern painted on my C-130. Now she;s ready for clearcoat and decals and then finishing: Thew other plane I was working on is this little Zlin 142 I got from Tim Herriman. I finally got the vacuformed canopy on. Man that was tough! Now I have to mask a whole bunch again and spray a new coat of white. Now for my armor. All I did was paint. Here's my German Recon Group in their basecoat of German Schwartzgrau: Next, I painted the upper and lower hulls of my two Shermans. I need to build their turrets now: And finally, I painted the camo pattern on the M-113 A2 APC. I was going to make this an ambulance, but I'm not sure this version served in the 'Nam as an ambulance or otherwise. I may have to look for another basic M-113 to make a battlefield ambulance version from the 'Nam. Here it is camo'd up. I'll probably make this an APC. Still undecided: That's all my progress for now. Feel free to check out the Aircraft Forum for the model I built sans instructions. Thanks for looking, comments are welcome.
  24. As I was going through my stash to see what else I could build, I kept picking this model up. It was the 1/72 scale Hasegawa model of a T-33 A Shooting Star in the Japanese Air Self Defense Force. I had gotten it at my IPMS chapter's semi-annual Distressed Kit Auction for a couple bucks. I looked inside and saw that there were no instructions so I put it back down on the pile. But as I looked for something else that would call out to me, I kept picking this model up only to remember that the instructions were missing and so I would put it down again, only to pick it up one more time. After picking it up and putting it down at least six times, I finally looked inside the box at the pieces and decided that I was going to go ahead and see if I could build this without the instructions. After all it looked to be a simple yet straightforward kit. So I pulled everything out and went to work. This is the result. I only consulted the box top artwork to make sure I was putting the right colors and decals in the right places. The stencils I put wherever I thought they looked good if I didn't know where they went. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you one Hasegawa 1/72 scale Japanese T-33A shooting Star built without instructions: And thus another model is chalked up as completed at Maddog Manufacturing. Of course, I won't try this with something about the size and complexity of a C-130 or other multi-engines aircraft, but in this case, it was actually easier than I thought it would be. I did keep looking for the instructions a few times before remembering that they were gone, but I forged ahead and finished rather quickly. Thanks all for looking, comments are welcome.
  25. LOL! Oh man Thanks Glenn! I haven't laughed so much in a while. Hey, feel free to check out my latest one finished..... without instructions!
