  1. Mike, if you frost the model with your Future/Flat Base combo, then simply re-shoot a coat of Future glosscoat back over the model. It takes the frost away completely. I'm speaking from experience as I frosted an HMS Invincible carrier. I thought it was trash, but I decided to re-shoot a coat of straight Future over it and the model was restored. Real easy. Don't let a little frost stop you from making more awesome models!
  2. Sounds like my club in Orange County. Glad you guys are doing so well and Well Done to Mr. Adams.
  3. This is awesome! Thanks Mark!
  4. This reply was made in IE --> Okay, it seems to be working in IE. I was able to quote you above, I got a cursor this time, amnd I was able to type below your quote instead of above it. I was aso able to go back to a misspelled word and correct it without backspacing all the way to it. I guess it's a Mozilla issue. Thanks Eric.
  5. Cool. I haven't tried it on IE yet,. Gonna try after work today. I'll let you know.
  6. Thanks Lee. Yeah, setting it aside for a day worked. I was able to get the landing gear and propellers on. I think I'm about ready for decals now. I agree on the Viggen. That is why I was taking it step by step; painting each color after a day or so. I will be waiting for the masks that are on the way so it should be easier to do when they arrive. The pics above show my freehand work. Thanks again for posting!
  7. Mozilla is up to 3.6? Okay, then that is what we have. I know it always updates and I just lost track of the updates. I'll try it on IE and let you know.
  8. Thanks Lee, I'm glad you like them. With the C-75 it wasn't so much fit issues as paint ones. It seemed the more I touched it up the more it got messed up. I finally set it aside to wait a day. Today, I got more work done on it. I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so far. With my luck, it's probably a train, but anyway, here's the pics. The C-75 is now on her landing gear and her propellers are installed: Man, the darn thing looks like a pregnant cow. Should be giving birth to a squadron of P-40's any day now. Moving along, I also started the splinter camo on my Viggen. This is the first color added over the basecoat: Now, I finish this freehand brush job and go to post it on another Forum; and I see a message from a friend of mine. He does masks for a living and sent me an offer for a set of camo masks to use on this plane Well, how could I not accept? I accepted his offer and will be repainting this model once they arrive. This should be fun! Anyway, that's all I have to show for today. Kind of small, but at least I'm seeing some progress. Thanks all for looking and comments are welcome.
  9. Dave, it only happens when I do a full reply or quote another post. Quick replies seem to work fine. Eric, I'm using Windows 7 fully updated, and Mozilla Firefox 3.2-something-something. Latest reiteration of that browser. This has only been happening the last week or so. Hope this helps.
  10. Well, I'm sorry to see this happening, even though I never really visited his site. He never touched on small scale armor so I had no reason to. Still, it is sad that a good site with excellent reviews and info stops happening. I also wish him the best and I hope he comes to enjoy the hobby once again.
  11. Lately, I've notice that when I click to reply, there is no cursor in the text box where the reply is supposed to be typed. I cannot go back to a mispelled word to fix it because there is no cursor, and when I quote someone, I cannot start my reply to their quote underneath. It only shows up above the quote. I also tend to make a piost on another forum and copy and paste here (particularly in my Works in Progress and completed models threads.) I would usually do small edits to make it applicable to here, but now I cannot do that. I would love to go back to having the ability to type and edit my posts again. Please fix this. Thank you.
  12. Well, I've been in a little slump lately, mostly because I've had a few models break on me and the parts are lost; I lost the interior of the halftrack I was building, and the C-75 is giving me more issues. Now I think I've pulled myself out of it. I finally have some progress to show on my Tiger for the Year of the Tiger Group Build on the LEM, as well as a couple other models. And for something different, I started a few helicopters to break up the armor/aircraft routine as well as to enter in the Helicopter Group Build 2010 on Hobby Link International. On my Tiger, I got the tracks painted in black base color, waiting for weathering. I also have all the assembly complete (except for the tools) and so now all I have to do is add the P/E before I can basecoat this. Here is the Tiger so far: No progress yet on the Tigershark, but at least I'm getting somewhere with this one for the Group Build. The other one I got a little progress done on is my Saab Draken. It is now ready for clearcoat and decals now. I gotta coat the decals with a decal film to be sure they don't break up on me. Anyway, here it is waiting for clearcoat and decals: No progress on the Viggen yet. Gotta start the splinter camo soon. I'll keep you posted on that one. Meanwhile, here are the helicopters I started to break things up a bit from armor and aircraft. This first one is the Airfix 1/72 scale Gazelle I'm going to make British. Here is the cockpit and crew first: Yeah, those guys and their office are looking pretty crude. I guess I'll touch them up a bit before I close them inside the fuselage. Here is the main rotors painted. I painted all the main rotors on all these helicopters with my $1.12 can of Wal-Mart Flat Black spray bomb. Next is my Japanese Sea Knight. First the interior that still needs paint: ...and the rotors painted black. You'll also notice that I installed the windows on the fuselage halves: And finally, this is an ancient MPC kit of the Mi-24 Hind that I'll be doing in Nigerian markings. I have another Hind somewhere I was going to build alongside this to make Libyan, but I can't seem to find the kit. Oh well, here is the forward fuselage/cockpit assembly, the interior of the main cabin assembly, the engine exhaust assembly, and the tail assembly: And here are the rotors all painted up as well: Well, that's all I have to show for now. I may get a few more things worked on today. I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, thanks for looking and comments are welcome.
  13. Welcome Jon! Enjoy the Forums and I'll be looking forward to seeing your latest work!
  14. Lee,. that is a great idea with the toothbrush /soap caddy. Gonna have to pick one up.
  15. I second that motion! I also build exclusively 1/72 aircraft and armor and have quite the sizable collection of finished models in that scale. Glad to see another one of us here!
  16. Dude, you are a trip! I agree though, awesome workbench Lee. I gotta get pics of mine and get them posted.
  17. Congrats! They look great! I'm using an Iwata I got for free from a friend. It still works awesome and so I'm using that exclusively since I cannot afford anything else. Now [piost some pics of some models sprayed with those!!
  18. Most impressive! Far better than anything I could do in that medium. Outstanding work!
  19. I hope so. I'd love to see one of their "Ground Vehicle Sets" be a Mule and Ontos too. But having a tanker version would be awesome. I'll be holding off anyway, as I don't know whether I'll be able to afford a resin conversion set anytime soon.
  20. Thanks guys! Your comments are most motivating! Ed, I would love to do a tanker version. I have to get the resin conversion kit for it though and that costs a bit. Gonna see what I can get though. Thanks again for all the motivating comments guys!
  21. Thanks guys! I actually had a pretty good time with this, although for a Hasegawa kit, there were some issues I didn't expect. Still, nothing insurmountable and here she is. Thanks again for the great comments guys!
  22. Hello everyone! This month I have been able to finish two more armor models. This first one was the Academy 1/72 scale M-977 HEMMTT cargo truck that I'd been working on. The camo pattern is painted on and I weathered it with my airbrush and some weathering powders from Tankrats AFV Depot: My other completed model is one I finished up in about three days. This is the Airfix 1/76 scale Australian Matilda Hedgehog tank. I painted it up with Model Master Olive Drab and weathered it with my airbrush: The spigot mortars on the back do go up and down. This was a fun little easy build and I'm quite pleased with it. I just noticed that I'll have to fix the silvered decals, but that's an easy fix. That's all my armor so far. I also completed an aircraft this month which is posted in the Aircraft Forums. Feel free to go check it out as well. Thanks all for looking, comments are welcome.
  23. Greetings everyone. Please gather around while I unveil my first aircraft for 2010. This is my Hasegawa 1/72 scale F-117 Stealth Fighter. I painted it with a $1.29 spraycan of Wal-Mart brand Flat Black. I masked the underside and sprayed $1.29 Wal-Mart brand Flat White in the wheel wells and bomb bay. I also had sprayed all the other parts that needed to be Flat White as well. Clearcoated it with Future, applied the decals, and flat coated it with Testor's Dullcoat. Added all the wheels, landing gear, bomb racks and bombs and she is done. Now I have three of the four models replaced that were stolen out of the USC Air Force ROTC display cabinet: This is one of three models I finished last Friday and finally got time to take pics of and post here. The other two finished models are in the Armor Forum. Feel free to stop in and check them out as well. Thanks all for looking, comments are welcome.
  24. My pleasure.
  25. If he's willing to expand into other scales, I would probably consider this decal set. I only build in 1/72 so a 1/35th scale set won't work for me.
