  1. Altin: Couple differences- primary one is AlClad is a lacquer and AK is enamel. AlClad requires a base coat (I use Tamiya Gloss black) for all colors while the enamel needs no base coat except for the high shine colors like chrome. For either, prep work on the plastic is critical. Both can produce great looking kits. I can say that AlClad, especially the Chrome and the like can be a little delicate for handling but I do not know if AK is the same Dave
  2. I have one built by these guys: http://pacepaintbooths.com/pace/ They vent outside which I like And yes theya re expensive but mine has about 400 built models in 20 years and is still running like a champ so....not bad since I like lacquerrs Dave
  3. John: Why not try going back to Gary. He is a modeler too so he may still replace them. Dave
  4. John: Have you tried contacting them and letting them know? If you are not even giving them a chance to make it right, your statement is not really valid. My GT resin parts are perfect and I have them for the A-10, F-4 and F-105- all with no casting issues. Dave
  5. Excellent. I love Saul's kits. I have them all except for the new one he announced for Jerseyfest Dave
  6. Don't care Richard. History doesn't interest me in the least about that kind accuracy so no worries. Parade is just fine Dave Dave
  7. 2019. And yes they have announced a hotel and I am sure the web site will be open soon. Not sure what hotel was noted Dave
  8. Really nice. Love the paint job Dave
  9. Dave Must say I disagree on the bust. It takes as much skill to use a sculpting program such as Zbrush and get the figure right, printed correctly and then cast, built and painted as it does to sculpt one from clay. Great series of articles in Amazing Figure Modeler on the whole subject the last 2-3 issues. Really digs into the issue Dave
  10. FWIW, this will happen much sooner than later as many figure kits are already 3D sculpted and printed and then casat in resin. Or ytou can buy and opwn you own kit. Here's some examples: https://www.gambody.com/ Dave
  11. FWIW, its that way with razor blades and cold medicine. We have such a meth problem around us that the local stores lock up the chemicals and the razor blades due to them being stolen and sold for money. Sad state of affairs Dave
  12. I just checked and it opened (7:30AM EST) Dave
  13. Great looking color scheme. Nice Dave
  14. Nice. I saw a guy in Amazing Figure Modeler do that for a Godzilla diorama and it was spectacular Dave
  15. No problem at all. I have two moldings of the early version (with the 4 bladed props) and one later with the "blender" props. If I can help with markings, let me know as I have most of the Bingo Decals sheets for these and I am only doing ones that were stationed on the USS Carl Vinson Dave
  16. That's kinda weird. My three kits are all one color. Looking great BTW I might have missed it but whose markings are you doing Dave
  17. Will be interesting especially with the wide variety of state sales taxes Dave
  18. Sprue Brothers never vends at the Nationals on a large scale. They were in Omaha with a small table selling WNW kits and they support the contest greatly but they don't bring the store in ever. Dave
  19. Love yellow wing planes. Nice! Dave
  20. Rumors about what?????? Dave
  21. There will be a bid presentation in Phoenix Saturday AM for 2020 and 2021. Open to members too. Not sure who's bidding
  22. I did consider it. The reason model companies have produced these expensive, multi option, state of the art models is US, the dedicated modelers that whine, criticize and complain about every rivet, issue, panel and the like. This has driven costs up and modelers out (so we defintely agree on that). As for Italeri being distributed by Tamiya, that's a distribution agreement . Dave
  23. I could see there demise. As most of their kits have been repalced by newer releases but others, they sell less. There Tomcat is Ok but not nearly Hobbyboss or Tamiya or AMK's forthcoming kit. And resissuing the old when most of us have the kit or there is a better kit won't cut it. I see there P-61 is back out....GWH is better by miles Dave
