Nice. FWIW, Here's the link to my build...8 year ago. Cripes am I getting old https://web.ipmsusa3.org/content/ea-18g-growler Dave

Now Blue Oyster Cult is stuck in my head! Great build! Dave
-
Agree. Not too bad but if I can get some time savings, worth it to me Dave

Chris: Could just be an error on the printers error. I would check with Marie at the office- manager@ipmsusa.org Dave

David: Great start. I have built a couple and they are nice. I would suggest one thing I don't see. Mike Reeves and his company Phase Hanger make a beautiful white resin intake set that saves lots of sanding. I have used three of them so far and they are wonderful and save time. I think they are $17 Dave

Awesome. Love the base Dave

I also think CultTVMan has some forums directed to SCiFi vehicles and that might hit a wider audience Dave

Agree, total understatement. Some great builds and some outstanding And huge quantity Dave

I think there are some aftermarket sets. The Moebius one is very rare. https://www.culttvmanshop.com/search.asp?keyword=jupiter+2&search= Dave

Excellent. Looking forward to it Dave

Dave: A very good point. IPMS worked and added the Adult Building Course and the chapters that used it reported positive results. It is basically a step by step on building a simple (but not snap together) kit from start to finish. I do not think many clubs invested the time to participate Dave

Is this the correct Frank Dial book: https://www.amazon.com/United-States-camouflage-WW-II/dp/B0007EC3VI It is $15 Dave

Survey is interesting and it can be compared to the one that was done before in the early 2000's. As for 1-2-3 cracking, not even close. GSB is still a minority mostly dealing with figures and armor. Some contests like the R4 convention tried GSB for a couple years and are now back to 1-2-3 due to modelers requesting the change And, FWIW, I am a figure builder and familiar with several ways the GSB works and do not think there will be a change in the next few decades for this in IPMS Dave

And if all else fails, find the instructions for the 1/48 scale Accurate Miniatures (now Italeri kit) as it has the colors too and was plenty close for me to build three of them Dave
-
Agree with David. Modelling is dying and losing members due to the "strict accuracy" people. We build toys Period. Until someone can put jet fuel in one and it flies off, they are toys. I have been over the year corrected by some saying we make "historically accurate miniatures". Great but that is not what 99.999999999% want. And we chase them out witnthe accuracy attitude. It got so bad here we had a person go actually measure the wing tip to ground difference on a plane the accuracy Nazi's eliminated and guess what, the real plane was NOT level side to side on an operational aircraft. And being labeled "rivet counters " cost us members and people enjoying this hobby so, IMO, it is wrong always. Dave

Noel: There are 1000's of ready made STL files that are complete models and parts. Check out thingverse.com amongst others. Most are very reasonable. I have see full figure kit files for $15. And for 1/350 ships, all sorts of parts to buy or print. Dave

Some food for thought. IPMS has about 4000 members down from a high of 7000 about 20 years ago. The general modeling population of US alone, based on numbers from Revell is about 50-60,000. So while we may talk about the rules and craftsmanship, we are a minority of the model builders in the US. If we want to grow, we need all parts- craftsman and fun builders. For me, I have seen people take out micrometers and measure the two wingtips of a plane and disqualify based on the fact they are a millimeter off. That does no one any good. In either case, IPMS supports all of it. 220 plus clubs with IPMS members and many not. Contests open to everyone except the Nats. It is all good Dave

And comments like this just reinforce their opinions. To each there own. I know plenty of modelers who think accuracy is overated and some who don't Dave
