Maddog Manufacturing's 2010 Factory Tour Updated 12/21!
philp replied to Mark Deliduka's topic in Photos: On the Bench
Nice start Mark. I am also working on the HEMTT kit for review and have just a little left to paint and then final assembly. -
My LHS has the Vulcan Shuttle, UFO Mystery Ship (aka Leif Erickson) and the old Mr Spock with the 3 headed snake thingy. Probably will pass on the shuttle although it does have some Whiff potential. Will probably pick up the other 2 kits as I always wanted to redo the UFO as the Erickson and saw a neat build of the Spock kit in an old Scale Modeler where the guy did some slight mods to an arm and a leg and put him in a setting from "The Man Trap" that I have always wanted to do something similar.

Thanks Mike, Can't find too many pics from that show. This dio has no ships in it. A PBJ, a couple Corsairs and a scratchbuilt PBY plus some trucks, buildings, trees, etc.
-
Dang it. Hate it when you can't find something on the web. Several years ago I saw pictures of a WWII Pacific airbase dio done in 1/350th and I am trying to find the pics and story around it without success. The Whatifmodelers are contemplating a Teeny-Weeny Group Build and I wanted to show off what can be done in this scale. Thanks.

I know Gil has probably seen this as he is represented. Every Year, ARC uses the first week of the year as Silly Week where they post articles of What Ifs, Humor, cars, ships, figures, basically anything that doesn't fit the "normal" aircraft theme. Being an avid What If and humor modeler I really look forward to this and have had some of my builds published in the past. This year they seem to have a bumper crop of articles and is well worth checking out. http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/ One of my favorites is this lass. Definitely a category we should add to the Nationals, picking Miss IPMS.

I had a room for a year, then my oldest moved back in to save money. So I still have the desk in his room, I can't model in there. So I build in the kitchen and have to clean up when we have company (not that often). The stash in in the storage area of the basement but it is finally out of the boxes and on shelves.

Looks great. I would love to get my hands on another 72nd scale version from the Hasagawa Betty kit. The one I have took a tumble and I couldn't find all the pieces.
-
Steve, Hope you are bringing this to Phoenix. Would look great on the SIG table if you don't enter it.

I like the idea of attaching the model to the base. Can be very helpful if you have a fragile nose gear and don't want to add any extra weight. One area where they can hinder you is in transporting them to the show. Depending on the size of the bases, you may not be able to pack as many in your box, etc.

Dave, Which kit have you got? Looks like the Academy version comes with markings for Iowa and ND ANG, both appear to be in ADC grey. Maybe someone has a kit they could swap decals with you?
-
If I can get my hands on one, a Revell 72nd F-22 for the Let it Snow GB at Whatifmodelers.
-
I read the mock up at the show was 1/16th scale and made of balsa. "This kit will be available as the F-35A, F-35B, and F-35C, with all the various differences correctly documented. A complete engine, detailed cockpit, and weapons bay will be provided." From Internet Modeler.

Panzer '46 - 1/35 Gunther from 'Dust'

Try here. -
Got one of the 72nd F-84G's but missing the clear sprue. Sent a note through their website www.tamiyausa.com and got a response back the next day (9/14) asking for what part numbers, my address, etc. Sent them the info and today I get a box with the entire clear sprue in it. That is a week from request to parts and no charge. :smiley20:

It may be one of the planned kits that are delayed. There was a notice in the News section.

Ed, a Mint original still wrapped is still a collectable. And at least you didn't pay $2-400 for it.
-
Yep, got the same message. You can expect to see a bunch of Aurora Moonbuses on ebay between now and March.

The Monogram Cobra was originally issued as a dual kit but was later released as a single kit. I built my copy a couple years ago for the Ft Douglas Museum here in Salt Lake.

Jack, I would have loved to work the RCHTA. Actually emailed Tom a few times. Guess he lives here in Utah now (down south someplace). You can check his site at www.tomdaniel.com . Tell him I said hey.

Been on here for years but got reset so count is low again, oh well. I live in Kearns, Utah (Ootah) less than a mile from the Olympic Ice Skating Oval. I build anything as long as it is 1/72nd scale, and a few other things. I like to compare the size of the F-16 with a B-17 with a Sherman with an E-Boat with a X-Wing, etc. Mainly aircraft, some armor, PT boats, Landing Craft, Sci Fi, figures, even a car or two (can't wait for the rereleases of the Tom Daniels cars Rommel's Rod, Tijuana Taxi, and Circus Wagon). Other scales get done usually in Sci Fi with the odd 48th plane or 35th vehicle. Have really gotten bitten by the What If modeling bug. Had a couple on display at the SIG table at the OC Nats and hope to show a few more in Phoenix next year. Also the Mini-Master of Ceremonies for the Whiffies over at Whatifmodelers http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,23309.0.html. You can see most of my builds here http://picasaweb.google.com/phil13/MyModels02 and here http://picasaweb.google.com/phil13/MyWhiffs.

Mandie, Lots of stuff looks good in Pink. This was my daughters first model. All from the forum at www.whatifmodelers.com

Nice as always Mark. Do the new Revell M-60s come with the separate road wheels like the M-48 or did you modify them.
-
And another fighter. My first F-15 Eagle in the flesh. And another year... And I love it when a plane includes the FS#s on the plane itself.
-
If anyone is interested, I added a few more pics starting with some Attack aircraft: Another shot of an A-7 from the Colorado ANG. Another A-10, this one in the more familiar Lizard camo. I love the shark mouth. And my favorite "attack" plane.
-
Added some Phantoms tonight. The old camera just could get the "whole" plane so I used to take 2-3 pics and then cut them and fit them. Hey, I was 15ish. The Happy Hooligans is the name of the North Dakota Air National Guard unit and they always showed up. I really liked the weapons on this one for some reason. Especially the 20mm Vulcan pod on the belly. Every now and then, we would get another Phantom visitor. This one all the way from Texas.
