  2. Thought I posted on this a long time ago but don't see me so let's try again. Star Wars - before it became A New Hope - This is probably the one movie that I have seen more than any other film, especially in theaters. Also loved The Empire Strikes back and Return of the Jedi. Don't hate the prequels but not in my top 10. Star Trek 2 and 4 - The Wrath of Khan was a great action show and A Voyage Home brought back the humor elements which made up most of my favorite TOS episodes. Was very disappointed in the first Trek movie, story and uniforms especially and they changed the Klingons (which doesn't bother me as much as it does a lot of Trekkers). Although the scene where the Klingons are under attack was great with the music and tension. Also loved the scene where we first see the Enterprise in space dock. Moon was a good flick for recent times and loved seeing actual miniatures used again in a movie. Still prefer models over full CGI. Serenity - mainly because I love Firefly Lots of the others previously mentioned also are high on my list: Forbidden Planet Silent Running Blade Runner Aliens (also liked Alien and never seen the 3rd or 4th flick) Galaxy Quest and a bunch of others. Still never seen Avatar but may break down and Red Box it someday.
  3. Simon's Movie thread has been revived so thought I would put up the TV thread to go with it. Feel free to list your favs as well as those that didn't cut the mustard. Some of my favs: Firefly Star Trek: The Next Generation Stargate SG-1 Babylon 5 The Adventures of Brisco County Jr (yeah more of a western but sci-fi/fantasy elements) Batman (OK, mainly the episodes with Julie Newmar in them) Quark (haven't seen it forever and my memories may have been influenced by the Doublemint Twins) When Things were Rotten (any Robin Hood satire has got to make it on the list) Wizards and Warriors So, what are yours?
  4. If was just the plane and the figures it would fit the small category but with the extra vehicles, probably will be large.
  5. I do the right click and copy image location. Then just post in using img links.

Keep hoping for a good kit in 72nd as the British version at El Alamein has been on my list for a while (and not the old Matchbox 76th one). Think the Dragon kit has the double pulpit and the ones in North Africa only had the single one (like the Academy kit). Could do a later version from Italy or France with this kit.
  7. Look good. Does the He-70 now fit the What If field? I plan on doing the Airfix Mig-15 in the US Korean War markings and Mig Mad Marine might be an interesting option.
  8. Ron, The Blizzard was no big deal as I was home before it hit and didn't really get that much out at my house, only another 6-8". The one the Sunday before was more snowy for me with about a foot at my house. One thing I do like living her is the views.
  9. Mark, send them a couple pics of the total forces. They finally published one of my builds in the Gallery.
  10. Found this. http://www.fast-autos.net/diecast-cars-mod...0559505529.html
  11. Some we use at the Whatifmodelers forum: For the threadheads: For the flyboys: and for the sci-fi geeks:
  12. Dick Engar did one several years ago but no info on how the build went. But there is this one from over at the Whatifmodelers forum. http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,26618.0.html
  13. Try here. There is one in the Gallery. Not sure if there is a kit though.

Rick is correct, just tilt it back.
  15. Got a few more pics starting here From what I remember, most of the Warrior uniformed figures were modified from the Millennia Models International figures. The ground crew were either Preiser or auto or military figures he modified, can't remember. There is a guy making things for the New Viper kit but they could be used with the older stuff. http://www.starshipmodeler.net/talk/viewtopic.php?t=83831 And some other stuff that may help. http://www.starshipmodeler.net/talk/viewtopic.php?t=86153
  16. Ed, Like your idea. Here are some pics I took at the local show a few years ago for some inspiration. I would have loved to pick up some of the 72nd kits but those prices are waaay out of my league. I actually have the 30th Annv Viper in my for sale pile. Will be watching this one with interest.
  17. Found this: http://www.missionmodels.com/image.php?productid=214196 Think I have a book buried some place with the markings. Let me do some digging.
  18. On my trip down to the Nationals in Phoenix I spent the night in Las Vegas at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino. Room had been recently remodeled and was nice but the casino was still upgrading and their machines were not in a friendly mood :banghead:. I always like to check my view and knew I was probably facing the airport so took a peek and what was sitting out at the closest part to me. Yes, one of the infamous "Janet" Boeing 737s. So I watched on and off throughout the evening. They did a constant business of flying in and out throughout the afternoon with a total of 5 parked when I went to bed for the night. In the morning there was only one sitting again, just like when I arrived. Seeing these up close and personal (especially with my 30x zoom on the new camera) was pretty cool after hearing about them. Close up of a couple together. First I heard of these was the model built by Bill Engar entered in the SLC 06 contest. Here are a few other visitors I saw.

    Duece and a Half

Nice job. I have the same kit even though I pretty much just do 72nd I will make an exception here and there. Been trying to find a set of Jerry Cans to fill the back and do one of the Red Ball Express trucks. There is a nice drawing in the instruction sheets but I am not about to go out and buy that many individual cans.
  20. Updated the file with some larger pics because so many of us can use the help.
  21. How did you know what I was going to practice with?
  22. Saturday my oldest and I drove 4 hours north to attend this show in Idaho Falls, ID. The draw for me was the Blue Angels were performing. While I have seen them back when they flew the Phantom and several times in the A-4, I had never seen their Hornet show in person. The show was pretty good but some things they could improve on would be keeping the exhibits closer together (had to walk the entire runway to see everything), better loudspeaker system (you had to be in the right place or you couldn't hear anything. Jeff did find them on the FM dial and we got to listen to the Blues show), and finally, a better system for the shuttle busses. We parked at the University so we wouldn't have to deal with the parking but after a 2 hour wait for a bus to pick us up afterward, we finally decided to hoof it the 2.4 miles back (the traffic was ridiculous). Other than that, we had a good time. Pics are Here and some highlights below. Yep, Skyshark, and it was for sale. Sharkmouth Even had cars and some military vehicles
