Thanks to Mark for setting this up. Have several I am working on so this space will grow. Now, I know some of you have dabbled in the dark side in Aircraft, Armor and even Sci-Fi (and X-wing in VF-84 markings comes to mind) so how about sending in your What If builds and let everyone know. Besides, we have cookies. http://www.ipmsusa3..../builds/WhatIf/

Hmmm. Just found this from Fujima in 1/24th. http://ga.sbcr.jp/mreport/017970/

Rob, Know about the resin Milicast landing craft but looking for something in injection plastic. There are a few (or have been) resin BWN boats but, again, out of my price range. Would like something nicer than the Hasagawa Chaffee (which I build 30+ years ago) . Is it at least true 72nd scale? A 72nd MBT-70 would also be nice. Also add a second vote for these. Bladerunner Spinner car, 1/24 Last Starfighter Gunstar, 1/72 TIE Bomber, 1/72

1/72nd Firefly class (or at least, 1/144) 1/1000 Romulan Bird of Prey (TOS), know there was a resin version but I missed it. 1/72nd Battletech mech from Pre Clan times (Marauder, Warhammer, Battlemaster, Rifleman, Hatchetman, Thunderbolt, etc) 1/72nd Brown Water Navy especially a Monitor, PACV and a PBR 1/72nd new tool F-106, F-102, F-101 1/72nd Vautor 1/72nd XB-51 (to whiff in SEA markings) 1/72nd Saturn V with Launch Tower 1/72nd Boeing 737, 747 (Shuttle carrier) 1/72nd DC-9 (for a C-9A Nightingale) Wouldn't mind 72nd injection C-5, C-17 and C-141 but would need to add a new room to the house) 1/72nd M-41, M-47, M-42, M-24 1/72nd SAMs with launchers and support vehicles, especially a Fan Song 1/72nd LCI, LCT Probably still missed a few.

W.I.P. Space Shuttle Full Stack in 1/72nd Scale
philp replied to Dick Montgomery's topic in Photos: On the Bench
Dick, A trick I heard when trying to replicate a texture which I think I read about being used to replicate Dinosaur scales over a puttied area is to make a cast of some of the existing textured area and them push that over the putty. Think the guy just used some liquid latex to capture the texture but sure there are other materials that would work. -

W.I.P. Space Shuttle Full Stack in 1/72nd Scale
philp replied to Dick Montgomery's topic in Photos: On the Bench
Looking good Dick. I have just the shuttle kit to do but keep thinking of getting the 72nd scale 747 and doing the odd couple. The fact that I have never done a vacuform kit, the cost of said model and where to store it when finished have put a little damper on the idea but will have to get at least the shuttle done one day. -
A little searching on the web found these: http://www.oldmodelkits.com/index.php?detail=17453&manu=Palmer http://www.oldmodelkits.com/index.php?detail=12551&manu=Palmer http://www.oldmodelkits.com/index.php?detail=10841&manu=Palmer http://www.timepassagesnostalgia.com/&searchkeywords=palmer+plastic+model&sis=-1&rdir=1 http://www.gasolinealleyantiques.com/kits/images/Miscellaneous/palmer20.JPG http://www.gasolinealleyantiques.com/kits/images/Miscellaneous/palmer21.JPG http://www.gasolinealleyantiques.com/kits/images/Miscellaneous/palmer24.JPG

Looking good. I am waiting on the new Airfix 72nd scale kit (even though I have two of the Matchbox/Revell kits in the stash).
-
While I have been liking the new Drs I will always be a Tom Baker fan (would you like a jelly baby?). I have the Dr Who tech manual someplace as always wanted to make a Dalak in about 35th scale. Then Airfix released the two kits and have been tempted but need the price to come down a little. Ron, If you have extra's of the decals, I would be interested both 76th scale and 35th.
-
Looks like they have grown a bit since the last time I went through which would have been late 90s or early 2000s. Don't see the scale B-2 anymore? Think it was a quarter scale or half scale test bird that they had on display where the B-1 is now. Came across a couple pics when we were looking for stuff for Mike's service. Might have to try and scan them in.

Dan, Yep, been to the Museum but that has been a while. The car club also sponsors the auto awards at the Ogden or Salt Lake contests. Just wish we could get all three clubs together and go for another Nats. I wasn't in state yet when they hosted in 1980 and sounded like they lost a bit of cash. Made all the old timers pretty gun shy. But if all 3 could get together, should be enough manpower to pull off a good show. Been a while since I have been up to Park City also. Still haven't made Bear Lake, maybe someday. Lots of stuff to do here.

Thanks for the pictures. I have lived here now for almost 28 years and have only made it to one or two of these. Didn't even see any advertising for it this year.
-
My Dad forwarded this to me and got to admit, I wasted a bit of time looking through this. http://www.nmusafvirtualtour.com/full/tour-pkg.html Still got to make it here some time and see it in the flesh but this works for now. Though the lighting looks better than most describe on their visits. Maybe they listened.

Think I built every one of their US armor kits except this one and only a couple of their German armor kits. Liked them for the Shep Paine dio sheets.
-
I have done a few and have several others in the stash. Academy Dodge Ambulance and Tow Tractor Academy HEMTT And their crappy Jeep
-
Nothing wrong with a What If build. Currently working on a Tuskegee Airmen P-80 circa 1946.
-
Built the Monogram kit a few years ago for the Ft Douglas Museum. Definitely needs to be rereleased or have an upgraded version made.
-
One of my Dad's buddies sent these from his deployment (Blackhawk pilot).
-
Still have no idea what my first kit was. Would have been late 66 or early 67 as I was 6 when I built it. Probably a 72nd Revell single engine fighter as I remember a few of them.
-
While none of my old kits suffered fire or explosives, I did destroy my 72nd armor with a BB gun back in my early teens and graduated to a .22 for several other models later on (only one I remember is a modern carrier (probably Revell or Monogram but not the Big E) that I actually floated just off the Missouri River and sank with my first shot. OK, not sure if I actually hit it or just swamped it with a close in shot but it was gone. Still, I lost more kits to the Movers than to weapons fire. Had a whole box of build ups that didn't show up at one of the new bases (don't remember which move, there were a few). Most of the kits were the Monogram Tom Daniel's cars which I did in the early 70's. Was so happy to see some of them being rereleased recently.
-
Looks funky with the big gun (anteater). Came out well even with the decal issues. Gotta find one of the 76th scale Nutrockers. But got to modify that turret to at least look like a tank.
-
Well, these are the pics I took last year. http://ipmsusa3.org/gallery/v/events/National_Convention_2010/vendors+people+places/Pima.Tour/ The pics I took in 04 were up on the old gallery during and after the convention but when I asked if there was a copy when my computer crashed, they had been taken down.
-
Nice pics Mark. You should link the ones I took at last years Nats which are in that Gallery. I also took pics for the website during the 2004 Convention but lost my copies due to a hard drive crash. Don't know what happened to the ones that were on the site before.
