Mark Aldrich Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 Before I was BANNED from IDF-modeling, a certain individual posted some interesting pictures of several Ford GPAs on parade circa 1949. I thought what a cool idea to use one of my old rattholed Tamiya kits for. I used parts from Eduard (brass), DEF Model (wheels), headlights are resin copies of Dragon's BRDM, and TWS (Fuel Can). I basically filled a few holes for exterior tools and the only other two items I will be adding are a Thompson .45 and a couple sailor caps for the interior. Hope to get paint on it this weekend.
WildBill50 Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 But will it float??? Looks good so far. You'll probably have it done before I get my canopy painted. I like it. Bill
Mark Deliduka Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 That looks awesome! I might even try picking up another Academy Ground vehicle set that includes this GPA. Way to go!
802chrisg Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Great stuff there Mark. :m1helmet: Still don't know how you work on carpet?
Mark Aldrich Posted February 24, 2013 Author Report Posted February 24, 2013 It is really comfortable! However, attempting to retrieve a part is not the easiest.
ClareWentzel Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 Forgive my stupidity but what are those white things on the model? It looks good so far.
Mark Aldrich Posted February 27, 2013 Author Report Posted February 27, 2013 Clare, I guess it would depend on what white things? Some are filled holes, one is a new gas cap and the ones on the dash are plugs (I think).
RGronovius Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 Nicely done; the tires look so anemic compared to the regular Jeep wheels. Those sailors' dixie hats on the seats?
Mark Aldrich Posted March 18, 2013 Author Report Posted March 18, 2013 Thanks Rob! Yes those are Dixie Caps. The tires are actually Jeep sand tires. I like them better for this vehicle as I am sure they were demanding the Military tread tires for combat vehicles.
Guest PetrolGator Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 (edited) Very cool. I love "what-ifs". Those little Thompsons are a great touch. Edited March 18, 2013 by PetrolGator
802chrisg Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 Nice job Mark, As a former sailor I personally love the dixie cup hats.
Mark Aldrich Posted March 19, 2013 Author Report Posted March 19, 2013 Thanks Chris, I think they add color to an otherwise drab vehicle.
ghodges Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Great looking model Mark! All I can add is "ditto" to all of the kudos above! GIL
Mark Aldrich Posted March 20, 2013 Author Report Posted March 20, 2013 Thanks Gil, I greatly appreciate all the Kudos!!!!
