  1. Way back in 2007, I wanted to complete a full collection of civilian aircraft available in 1/72 scale. Back then, I had only one more aircraft to complete; the Cessna Skymaster, in order to achieve that goal. Then, three aircraft were stolen from me; setting me back a couple years. Fast Forward to 2010, and I have finally completed that goal. Here are the pics of my latest civilian aircraft finished. This is the Aurora Piper Cherokee in 1/72 scale. I thought I'd post them on the stands for fun. Here's the Piper Aztec all built now. Except for one wheel that came off soon after installation. I'm calling it done anyway, because God only knows when I'll be able to find/replace that wheel! The last plane I needed to complete was the Cessna Skymaster. Here she is in all her 'glory'! What a pain this one was to build! Yeah, her canopy is a bit 'frosted', I'll add another coat of Future to fix that. I'd had to clean something off and it clouded it. The Future will fix that straight away. And for fun, here is the whole collection of 1/72 scale civilian aircraft all in one big shot: Well, that's all my latest aircraft finished. I also completed an armored car as well. I've got it in the Armor Forum so feel free to go by and check it out. Meanwhile, thanks for looking and comments are welcome.
  2. Ah, my favorite superhero! Awesome job Chris!
  3. Wow Gil! That is some outstanding and quick work you've been doing! I am amazed watching these two models coming together so quickly. Beautiful job! As for getting da bear, I think he's ALWAYS chewing on me! Way to go on these Gil!
  4. Welcome Tom. Although I never really left the Hobby, I know what you're talking about, Sometimes I also have difficulty learning a few new things. and usually have a tough time weathering myself. This is one of the best places to learn. You'll fit in well.
  5. Amen to that Mark! And thanks for reminding me to pick up more clothespins.
  6. Oh man, I would love to have both the halftrack and the Sherman book. Bit pricey for me right now. Still, great news, thanks for the heads up.
  7. Beautiful job Mark! That is an awesome build. Now if only they made the Achilles in 1/72 scale, I'd be able to get four: One for Britain, one for France, one for Italy, and one for Israel. Oh well, maybe someday.
  8. Thanks Pappy for the compliment and the term. Great info! I used Testor's Model Master Dark Green and then dry-brushed an olive drab over it in an attempt to give it a two-tone/faded look. A lighter drybrush using Panzer Dunklegelb brought out more highlights. Now to get a few more models finished.
  9. Cool. Thanks Mark. I figured it only applied to LAV's and possibly HUMVEEs too,. I hadn't even considered the Hammerhead. I have a couple of those too. Thanks again for the reply. Now to try and get more done before the end of the year.
  10. Thanks Aaron. Glad you like it. I'm looking forward to seeing your model built too. You gonna do the Hungarian version?
  11. David, I like what I see. Great job. Your mottling is outstanding. Can't wait to see the wing fixes. Dick, nice job on your small scale armor. Detail was a bit tough to pick out in those pics, but what I could see what quite good. Welcome to my world. Now that you've done one, you know what I've been through 553 times already. I'll have a few more updates posted later of my weekend work.
  12. Outstanding work. I gotta get me one of those.
  13. Mark, thanks. I must not be a good treadhead since I didn't know that. I just learned something today. Thanks Von. Those are the kit's tires. In fact, they gave me both rubber tires and plastic tires that needed to be cemented together in this kit. I opted for the rubber tires. On my missile truck, I only got the plastic tires.
  14. Thanks Phil. I didn't think it was a "What If" since Germany did have these in the Luftwaffe before saending them to Spain. I was just never able to find any decent pics of one in German markings pre-delivery.So I winged it. In that sense, yeah, I guess it is a "what if". Looking forward to seeing the MiG in USAF Korean War markings. I've always wanted to do that as well.
  15. Yeah, I'll see if I can do that. I doubt anything would come of it, but hey, one never knows.
  16. Thanks Greg!
  17. Thanks Gil! I like the MiG Mad Marine ones as well. Besides, I also like John Glenn too. Thank you again for the compliments. Thanks Von. Yeah, these are the kit decals. Aside from the stripes, they went on well.
  18. Thanks Ed! I do appreciate that, especially coming from such a great modeler. I simply used the decals from the kit; he had no preference for any specific markings. I'll be deliveringn itr on Saturday or Sunday. Thanks Gil! He sure enjoyed the F-102 I'd built for him before. As for 1/48 being my true calling, I don't think so. I enjoy 1/72 scale too much. One of my biggest frustrations with this model is that it took so long because of all the extra parts and detail to attend too! I'lll be happy to go back to my favorite scale.
  19. Thanks Mark. I have to reveal my ignorance here. Which one is the TUA? I know all of them by different names. I have four more armor models in progress; hope to have more pics to post soon. Stay tuned.
  20. Here are the two aircraft I managed to get done in the last couple weeks. This first one is the Fujimi 1/72 scale F-86 F Sabre Jet "MiG Mad Marine" I finally got it built up after some bothersome roadblocks. This next model is the old Matchbox 1/72 scale Heinkel He-70 that I won in the Phoenix Nationals raffle. I added some old German decals to it, otherwise I just built it OOB. This one's for you Phoenix guys!! Thanks! Well, that's all for now. I hope to have more aircraft finished soon, so stay tuned. Mean while, for those who also like armor, feel free to check out the Armor Forums for my latest completed armor. Thanks all for looking and comments are welcome.
  21. Okay, this is all my latest armor finished up as of two weeks ago. This brings my final count of finished armor up to: 553 Finished Armor Models! As always, these are all in 1/72 scale. Here they are in no particular order: Trumpeter's LAV AT vehicle: Trumpeter's LAV Command Car: Trumpeter's LAV Recovery vehicle: Next are two of my newest German vehicles. This first one is Dragon's SdKfz 251/2 Ausf C with a Pak 36 gun: And this one is RevellAG German Dingo ATF vehicle: Next are all my latest Russian vehicles. I'll start with this BRDM I from an unknown Eastern European company: ...followed by the ACE SA-9 Gaskin SAM vehicle: And finally, this monster Russian Multifunctional Radar Truck for the SA-10 Grumble SAM system: There they are, my latest armor. I also finished up two aircraft, so feel free to check them out in the Aircraft Forums as well. Meanwhile, thanks all for looking and comments are welcome.
  22. This one is not in my scale, but I completed it for a friend of mine. He had worked on this plane in his youth and always wanted a model of it. Now he will get one. This the Monogram 1/48th scale F-106 Delta Dart I built for my friend Rick Thomas: Tomorrow, he will get it. I'll post pics when I finish giving this to him. Thanks all for looking.
  23. Cool! I may have to get that issue. Gee, I had already told Matthew Usher about my huge collection. I wonder why they didn't contact me? Oh well. I guess it's because I didn't add on an extra room. Thanks for the great compliment and tidbit about the article. I appreciate you stopping in.
  24. Hey everyone! I got a few more things to show everyone. In between some of these jobs I've been doing, I've tried to get some work done on some models. Most of these are models that have been on the bench for awhile, so I'm trying to get them done. I also started one more since it was a quick and easy build. To start with, here is my armor. This AML-90 Armored car is almost done. Here it is with decals on; the next steps are a wash, dullcoat and drybrush before weathering. Next I decided to finish the main hull of the other French armored car, the ERC-90. here it is all complete. I still need to put the turret baskets on after I make them. The wheels on this model are designed to be able to turn. I made them pretty loose so they tend to look crooked sometimes. I have to go to Henk's site to get the instructions for the ERC again. Mine got lost. Now for my aircraft. I went ahead and finally added the red color to the Aztec that I wanted to have. Next step after this is decals: While that was drying, I assembled all the detail parts to the wing of the PBY Catalina and then dry-fit the engines. here it is all "assembled" in a test fit: Next I put the crappy decals on this model. It was a bit tough; they were prone to breaking, even with the decal film on them. I made them stick though. I was actually looking for some better decals in my decals stash,, but I am woefully lacking in WWII British decals! Oh well, onwards and upwards..... This next one is the one I started. It is the Revell 1/72 scale F-9 Panther that I got as a raffle prize. Here is the cockpit and instrument panel. My apologies for the blurry pic: Next I assembled the wings and tail: And finally, I put the cockpit and IP in the main fuselage and closed it up. I added the tail to it and then dry-fit the wings for this pic: That's where I am on those. These next two models are ones that I'm trying to get done very soon. One is a challenge build (The 1/32 scale Tigershark) and the other is a gift for a very good friend. Here is where I am on the F-106 Delta Dart for my friend. As a reminder, this model is the Monogram 1/48 scale aircraft. I finally have the decals on it and now all I have to do is add all the detail parts and then semi-gloss it. I'm hoping to have this done before Thanksgiving so I can give it to him as a Thanksgiving day present. This last one is my New Year's Challenge to build a 1/32nd scale plane. Well, I have the cockpit assembled and closed into the forward fuselage; the forward fuselage is attached to the rear fuselage and the wings and tail are added. This one is coming along: This thing is freakin' 'uge! Well, that's all I have for now. I'm heading out to St. Crispin's Hobby Night to work on some more models. I'll keep you posted! Meanwhile, thanks all for looking and comments are welcome.
  25. Von, I appreciate the suggestion. I've already finished this Sabre sans stripes and I'm calling it done. I've had enough headache and heartache with that model; I wasn't going to invite further disasters. I have kept your idea and suggestion for the next time I do a striped aircraft like that. Thank you for that again. Hopefully I'll be able to get some pics up later of my finished models.
