  1. Chris, you are welcome. I'm hoping it catches on more; especially since I'm always hearing everyone talking about their frustrations and such. I'll see about starting up a new Group Build pretty soon. It might even be fun. Who knows, maybe we can get a display table at the next Nationals showing 'before' pics next to the 'after' models.
  2. Cool. I'm getting some ideas here. I use aluminum foil for masking. For instance, when I want to spray a tail, or a nosecone, or some other part and I don't want overspray on the rest of the aircraft I wrap it in foil and tape the edges closed. I also use it to mask off landing gear when spraying the bottom of aircraft, or filling in landing gear or bomb bays before taping them off. Hmm, I'm going to keep watching this one for more ideas
  3. Good post Dick. I would possibly suggest for the New Year changing the name to something more generic than Saturday since some of us are able to build on other days as well. Congrats on having built so many this year. I'm still building so my final count won't be ready for a few weeks now. I think I've passed you though....
  4. I got this idea from Chris, who suggested starting a thread asking how many models are on your "Shelf of Shame". I'd like to take it a step further. I'd like to ask, "What models are on your "Shelf of Shame" and why? Many times , it is just burnout on that particular kit, or a big mistake we don't know how to fix; or even missing parts. I think posting here may help us assist each other in getting those Shameful models off that "Shelf of Shame". Maybe we can even take that idea further: A Group Build on those models on the "Shelf of Shame" with everyone helping give ideas and/or spare parts to help all participants to clear some space on that shelf and move some of these projects to the finished shelf. I'll be checking my "Shelf of Shame" soon to give a list. Meanwhile, anyone else who wishes to post here, feel free. I will say that the P-39 Airacobra I finished recently was a former "Shelf of Shame" occupant. That is, until I found another kit exactly the same (sans one fuselage half) in the Distressed Kit Auction at my IPMS Club meeting in December. That kit enabled me to replace the lost propeller assembly. Okay people, post away!
  5. Thanks guys!!
  6. Well, if one must know..... The armored train is one, plus the six other models on my workbench right now. In addition to those, the Dora railgun, and more I will list later.
  7. I know that feeling! Gonna give it a try myself and see how many I can finish before the new year. Chris, awesome work on that Tiger. She's looking meaner and meaner every time I check this Thread out.
  8. Well, I started an armored train this year and then sidelined it. I'll submit that as my "Must Finish" kit for next year. I would have said the Dora, but I haven't gotten it yet. Still waiting for more money so I can order it.
  9. Thanks Chris! Maybe it should be something to consider if you are up to it. Stay tuned, more to come.
  10. Thanks Bob! I like this one too and I'm certain I can get it done very soon.
  11. I agree Ying! It is a beautiful plane and I'm thrilled to have it finished!
  12. Thanks Gil! That is actually the Revell boxing of the Panther in 1/72 scale. This was a raffle prize I won at a local contest. I should have this one done soon.
  13. Thanks Chris!
  14. Thanks guys! I'm so glad to finally have this collection finished!
  15. Thanks Gil! It sure did! man the frustration I had seeing that thing sitting on my 'shelf of shame' for all that time drove me nuts; especially since I had put that propeller assembly aside JUST TO KEEP FROM LOSING IT! Yeah, peace of mind! Can't beat it!
  16. Sharp looking aircraft man! Awesome job! I do love the color you got mixed up. It does make this plane look fantastic. Congrats also in graduating from nursing school! Way to go!
  17. Well, it was a lazy Sunday today so I took some time to finish yet another model. Here it is, my other raffle prize that I won in Phoenix at the Nationals. This is the ancient 1/72 scale MPC PBY Catalina done up in British Coastal Command colors: I'm glad I can finally call this one done! Thanks all for looking and comments are welcome.
  18. I finally got this one done! This is a model that has been sitting on my workbench for three years because the propeller assembly I'd done had disappeared. Well, this Friday at our Distressed Kit Auction, I found another kit exactly the same as this one; but missing the one side of the fuselage. I got the kit for a buck, and the next day at St. Crispin's Hobby Day, I finally got this model finished! Here it is, the 1/72 scale Revell P-39 Airacobra that I finally can call finished! Man, I'm so glad to finally get this hanger queen where it belongs: on the finished shelf next to all my other finished models! Thanks all for looking in, comments are welcome.
  19. Yesterday I spent the day at St. Crispin's Hobby Day and managed to finish one model and get progress on two more. The completed one is in the Aircraft Forum, so feel free to check it out. Meanwhile, here is the progress I've made on the other two models. Here is the F-9F Panther all decaled up. Gonna have this one finished before too long: The other model I got ahead on is the Russian SA-10 Missile truck. All I have to do is ass the wheels and then it's a matter of weathering it since it had no decals: That's all for now. I got more coming up, including a couple new models I'm gonna get started on soon so stay tuned. Until then, comments are welcome and thanks all for looking in.
  20. Thanks Mark! Now to finish a few more.
  21. It's finished. This is my latest armor model finished; a two-inch-long French AML 90 armored car in 1/72 scale: I apologize for the pics. I was experimenting with a new camera and these didn't look as good as I hoped. I'll get some better ones up later. That's all for now. Comments are welcome.
  22. Well, here it is a while later and I finally have something to show. First off, here is the PBY Catalina almost finished. A few more parts and she'll be done. The next pic of her you'll see will be the completed ones: Next I got the paint on the F-9F Panther. Next up: decals! I haven't only been working on aircraft. I manged to get paint on my SA-10 Missile truck. This is almost finished with assembly. The next pics you see of this will be the completed ones: That ain't much, but it's all I got to show for now. Thanks all for looking and comments are welcome.
  23. Way back in 2007, I wanted to complete a full collection of civilian aircraft available in 1/72 scale. Back then, I had only one more aircraft to complete; the Cessna Skymaster, in order to achieve that goal. Then, three aircraft were stolen from me; setting me back a couple years. Fast Forward to 2010, and I have finally completed that goal. Here are the pics of my latest civilian aircraft finished. This is the Aurora Piper Cherokee in 1/72 scale. I thought I'd post them on the stands for fun. Here's the Piper Aztec all built now. Except for one wheel that came off soon after installation. I'm calling it done anyway, because God only knows when I'll be able to find/replace that wheel! The last plane I needed to complete was the Cessna Skymaster. Here she is in all her 'glory'! What a pain this one was to build! Yeah, her canopy is a bit 'frosted', I'll add another coat of Future to fix that. I'd had to clean something off and it clouded it. The Future will fix that straight away. And for fun, here is the whole collection of 1/72 scale civilian aircraft all in one big shot: Well, that's all my latest aircraft finished. I also completed an armored car as well. I've got it in the Armor Forum so feel free to go by and check it out. Meanwhile, thanks for looking and comments are welcome.
  24. Ah, my favorite superhero! Awesome job Chris!
  25. Wow Gil! That is some outstanding and quick work you've been doing! I am amazed watching these two models coming together so quickly. Beautiful job! As for getting da bear, I think he's ALWAYS chewing on me! Way to go on these Gil!
