I remember these kits. The box art was really interesting and lead me to buy several when I was a kid. If I'm not mistaken, two of my first airplanes were the He 188 and the PBY done by this manufacturer. I like the way you crew them up with the figures. It might be old but it looks the part. Well done, thanks for sharing.

1960 Ford Starliner ...work In Progress Updated 2-9

Awesome! Someday I'll be able to do wiring like that, probably at the same time I master rigging 1/72 biplane models. I'm still working on the Multi Maverick. After I received the Hot Rod article, I was not sure what to do. The kits is not even close in a lot of ways. The paint job/ decals are nothing like that shown in the photos. I've recently joined the review team so my progress on other things is going to slow down. Thanks for showing your progress it shows me whats possible. -
Thanks Raisin, thats a real boost coming from a talented car builder.
-
Yes it is. The worst part was fixing the seam that runs right across the radiator air intakes. The decals are a lot easier than they look. This was my first Formula car model and was the result of a weekend at Laguna Seca raceway. I was there for the vintage car racing and when the F styles cars did there laps it was awesome. Just had to build one. Come to find out they (race cars and aircraft) share a lot of common technology. Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the positive feedback Ed. I've a couple more cars in various stages so stay tuned. Your turn...

Wish I had seen this sooner. Smith Brothers Hobbies in Reseda is a real winner.

And the engine

As promised I stuck the broken bits back on took some more

Thanks Gil. This was one of those just for fun type kits. I too like the lines of the G-91. Its a Sabre with a Ferrari touch. Its surprising how small a plane it is compared to the other aircraft of its day. It was after all a contender in the light weight fighter competition that brought us the Folland Gnat and the Alpha Jet. Both cool little planes in their own right.

I'd love to but I broke off other wing window trying to set it up. Let me see if I can address that. The interior looks great but I did not wire the engine. Stay tuned for further posts....

This is the monogram kit and also had the options of top up or a hot rod version. The paint is several coats of testors black airbrushed with lots of sanding in between. The trim is alclad chrome. Cars are not my usual subjects but every once in while I need a break from the norm. Hope you enjoy.
-
Not my normal subject. I could not resist this one when I saw it at the shop. Built OTB including my first time building track links.
-
Found this kit in a pile of stuff my local Hobby Shop had bought from another shop that went out of business. Except for the pilot figure I did this one OTB. The kit shows it age with raised panel lines and decals that remind me of Airfix. Painted with alclad on the underside and testers model master enamels on top. The only thing that stands out is the windshield framing is not whats shown on the instructions or on the real thing. The engraving on the kit was so well defined I did not want to try to fix it. Other then that this was a fun, quick built.

The shading is really good. Very well done.

Looking good. I don't work in 1/72 scale much as my eyes don't see that small like they used to. I did buy one of the new generation 1/72 Sabre dogs with photo etch and resin parts although I can't recall the manufacturer right now. It looks great in the box! Its fun to relive our youth once in a while. I recently built the Monogram Cessna 180 and did a much better job than the several I built when I was a kid. The process has reversed as the fun started after the build when I was a kid. Now the fun is the build after which I give them away. Keep em coming

Very sorry to hear about your loss Raisin. Your project is an excellent tribute to your Dads memory. -
Put in a lot of time this weekend. Finished 1/700 Baltimore heavy cruiser and a Fiat G91. Painted a 1/48 scale Fairley Firefly. Need to photograph and post them. All in all a very productive weekend. Thanks for the inspiration.

Can't wait to see the top wing on it. It looks from the drawings you won't have much to rig. I'm trying to finish an F2B and rigging is a major pain. Its coming along nicely.

Beautiful job. 1/32 is a cool scale especially when your eyes don't see like they used to. The only problem is finding a place to show it once its done. I see your a new member, welcome aboard.

These are great shots. I especially like the Boeing 247 and the Northrop Alpha. I recently received a bunch of photos from my Grandfathers collection as well as his pilot log books. He was an instructor pilot during WWII for the RCAF and a corporate into the mid 1990s. One of the shots is him in a Piper Cub on his first solo flight. I have the logbook with the entry for that flight in it. I agree with Gil in that flying was so exotic than. Theres some great modeling motivation here. Thanks for posting them.
-
Thats been my experience with it too. I've got to get going, all this progress making me want to hit the model bench.

You've done justice to a great kit. Mustangs Rule!

I have a special place for the Chipmunk. My Grandfather who passed last year was a member of the RCAF during WWII. He spent the war in Canada teaching warriors how to fly in Fleet biplanes and later in Chipmunks. After the war he was a member of several aerobatic units that performed in the Chipmunk. After he passed, I received a bunch of photos of him in bright polished metal Chipmunks with a student in the other seat. While I did a lot of flying with him , I never got a ride in one of those. Great build, thanks for the memories.

Welcome. This is a great place to show your work and get some motivation/encouragement along the way. I recently posted photos for the first time. I put them on a photobucket account and transfered them from there. Look forward to seeing your work.
