  1. "I always liked having our American Flag in the top zone, and more obvious, on our web page." FWIW, I agree with Ralph. I really liked the colorful American flag header.
  2. Here ya go. http://www.freetimehobbies.com/search.php?search_query=1%2F200+and+figures&x=0&y=0
  3. Don't be misslead by the phrase "silent". Ain't no such thing. When its running, you'll hear it pumping (piston) or humming (diaphram). The best choice you can make for silence is a tank version. Once the tank has been brought to pressure, the compressor will stop (at least its supposed to). Then you can enjoy silence until the compressor needs to renew the pressure. Absolute silence can be achieved if you purchase or rent an oxygen tank and regulator from a local supplier. The tank (with no moving parts) will operate silently as long as there is pressure. Once the tank drops below your required pressure, you run it down to the supplier for a refill. You can find these things on Craigs list or on eBay, but I would rent one to make sure you like it. As far as poorly fitting hoses and regulators go, the more you spend, the better quality, fitting parts you will get. In other words, don't scrimp on a compressor. Spend as much as you are comfortable with, maybe a little more. You won't regret it. Personally, since I build models for a living, I always buy the best quality tools. You probably already know this stuff, but I wanted to make sure.
  4. I have almost 35 Warship Pictorial series of books (most in consecutive order) I want to sell. ALL of them are near perfect to perfect condition. No marks, folds, price tags, damaged pages, or tears of any kind, anywhere, on any of them. I want TO SELL THEM AS ONE LOT! Most of the issues are OOP. If you ever wanted to become a serious collector of these great ship books, here's your chance! Serious buyers only. I researched the cost of these issues on Abe Books and Amazon and the grand total is more than $2062.00. I'll sell the lot for $1600.00. I'll pay Media Mail shipping to your doorstep. CONUS ONLY. However, you SHOULD INSURE them to protect your investment. If they don't sell, no going to eBay. If I don't sell them, I'll keep them.

  6. Nice model John. Too bad Kombrig didn't devote just a bit more time researching the paint scheme. Rusty
  7. I'll be there as a vendor, competitor, and shutterbug. If you guys want to see LOTS of American Civil War model kits, drop by my table and say hi. I'll be just to the left of the main entry right up front. See you there. Rusty White Flagship Models Inc. http://www.flagshipmodels.com
  8. I never got to meet Jim, but I do (age spoiler alert) remember the smell of the ink those old mimiographs created.
  9. HA! Thanks for this. Made my day.
  10. There is a pretty well stocked Hobby Town in Norman where one the local club meet. I do all my shopping there.
  11. The topic says it all. I want to see your models of aces of the military. Restricted to aircraft only, the usual requirements apply to be designated an ace. Be sure to hold off until the first of the month to post. BTW, I'm running low on ideas for theme subjects, so feel free to post a suggestion here or send it to my email. (shipmodeler@sbcglobal.net). I'm sure you guys have some good suggestions. Everything is fair game and I'll even give you credit.

As long as you don't "enter" a contest where the rivet counters (judges) can get to it, then build it the way YOU want. It will be fine to display with all the others.
  13. Well done and very clever. However, isn't that brass tubing pretty soft? Have you had any problems with it bending during sanding sessions? Just curious.
  14. The juniors tend to get left out of our day to day model discussions, so let's give them an entire month to post as many photos of their models as they want. "What about the children?" will be the theme for January. ANY junior under age 15 can post photos of their models. Mom and dads, help your youngster post is they need help and let's see what our juniors have to offer. Be sure to hold your posts until the 1st of Jan.
  15. Let's see any holiday decorated military machines ya got. I've seen lots of photos on the web of every kind of military vehicle done out out in holiday garb, so let's see what you got for the holiday season. Be sure to hold off until the first to post. Let's see some season's greetings military style!
  16. This months (November) theme will be "Automotive". Any non military automotive subject from cars to trucks, to motorcycles are eligible, so let's see what you got. Be sure to hold off until the first of Nov. to post.
  17. This is magnificent work. http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2013/10/forced-perspective-model-car-photos/
  18. Just wanted to pass on to everyone the wonderful service and attention by Tom Jett with my hotel delima. I contacted Tom and in just a day or two, everything was fixed. The manager from the Days Inn sent me a new quote and confirmation number. I figure he saved me about $50.00 or so. Thanks so much for the service Tom. See you guys next year.
  19. Rusty, it looks like you are looking a year too early. The 7th is on a Wednesday this year. In 2014, the 6th is a Wednesday. Yeah, caught that (duh). I have already purchased a vendor table and made reservations. HOWEVER, if you guys plan on staying in the Embassy, rooms are scarce. I couldn't find four room nights there, so after the reservationist tried to assign me to the (very nice lady) Hilton, settled for the Days Inn at a pretty good price. However, the Days in got me in Thurs and Friday at $69.00, but for Sat. I was charged $92.00, so be aware the weekends cost more. This will be the first convention I have been able to attend for some time due to caring for an elderly mother in law. I'm REALLY looking forward to it.
  20. Sorry, I should have mentioned the posting date. Oct. 1 you can post.
  21. You got the right idea, but I am interested in those AWFUL quality models we all have dealt with. One comes to mind as the Linberg Hood kit. NOTHING fits, the molding is awful and I wouldn't wish building that kit on my worst enemy. I hope this clarifies your question.
  22. Gonna try something a bit different for October. The Sow's Ear (as in a silk purse from) subject will be for the model of the WORST kit you have ever built. I want photos guys, but if you tossed it in the trash and never finished it, write-ins will be welcome too I guess. It doesn't matter how good or bad it looks, just take a photo and show us. Feel free to share all the gruesome details. Remember to wait until the 1st to begin posting for this theme.
