  1. Always good to see Spitfires! :) One of the criticisms of the Airfix kit is the shape of the fin - how did you find it?
  2. You're welcome, guys! Re:the engine - that may well be the case, as this is a restored warbird, so all of this needs pinch of salt as it were. But in most respects - particularly the structure of the a/c, it is the same.
  3. Wow, it's even worse than yesterday - I didn't think that would be be possible!
  4. Don't forget that this is a restored warbird, so it's not necessarily "true to life" as it were. BTW, as Nick P. will tell you, the opposite of "crisp" is "uncrisp." :P
  5. Cheers, James! Hopefully, they'll be useful to someone.
  6. A link for which is: http://www.ipmsusa2.org/Walkarounds/05-01-...4U-1D/intro.htm Cheers, John - very helpful!!
  7. Here's a selection of detail shots of the Corsair for the forthcoming Group Build: More in another thread...
  8. The more, the merrier - that's what group builds are about!
  9. I have some detail shots of these areas if you'd like me to post them here?
  10. Whaddaya mean - JUST another Airfix????!!!! :o Nice build, Jeff!
  11. Just the two of us? Not much of a group!! :o But hey, it would be a fun, quick build. I will be doing a quick conversion on mine - to a Royal Navy Corsair I - hope that's OK, Ron? And I wasn't going to superdetail mine - just enhance what's in the box.
  12. Nice one, Scooter - always good to see British aircraft here. :)
  13. What colours will you be finishing the Firefly in?
  14. The only 1/32 Corsair I have is the 21st Century one, but I'd be willing to join in with that! :) What's the second project? - a 1/32 carrier to put them all on? ;)
  15. I hope I'm still building models at 88! My wife's grandfather is 90 this year, and just retired from his job as a jeweller last year.........
  16. All the great work he's done in the past, and his last work was a voiceover for an animated show that's past it's prime - I just think that's unfortunate. He was such a groundbreaking actor and activist for the Latino community, and had such a rich career. I had no idea he was that old though - 88! :o
  17. Nice one, Jeff! Roger that on Airfix. :D
  18. Wow, makes me want to giving up the building part altogether - I mean, why go through all that hassle? Just kidding! But a great idea and execution, Clare!!
  19. One of the big features of SMW is the range of SIG/Branch (chapter) displays, in fact, that's really the focus rather than the competition. Perhaps an enterprising SIG in the Columbus area could organize it's own vast display, along the lines of 500 Phantoms? Or, looking forward to 2010, someone near Phoenix....? Uh oh....!
  20. Congratulations to our own Bill Devins, who won Golds with his Gladiator and Savoia S.21, and Silvers with his PZL Karas and Mitsubishi Kamikaze at last weekend's Scale Model World (IPMS/UK Nationals) in Britain! I also note that a John Tate won a Gold in an armour category - was this OUR John Tate from ABQ?
  21. As has/is/will be discussed ad nauseum on other fora, this was a typo in the ad - its 1/72.
