Tempest Tailplanes On The 1/48 Monogram Typhoon? Help!
PaulBradley replied to Fred's topic in Aircraft
Oooh, the old Typhoon tailplane dilemma rears its head again! It's more complicated than that.....If you are a member of Hyperscale, I'd recommend posting your question there, as Typhoon expert Andy Thomas frequents the forums and is the guru of all things Typhoon - he literally wrote the book on them. -
Ahh, ELO - now there was a band...... I use oven cleaner - easy, cheap and available in local grocery stores.
-
I'll second what David says. It's free and quicker than e-Bay......
-
Very nice, Gil! :) have you tried Mr. Aeroclub's Incredibly Handy Stretchy Thread for rigging? Good stuff.
-
I remember that one, and the one in '06 where the a/c were flying right over our backyard - I was too busy hosing down our roof to worry about taking pictures..............!! :o
-
I'll second that - thanks for sharing, Jim!

Thanks for sharing - I look forward to the walkarounds.

We get them here quite a bit during The Season - I'll scan in a photo I took some years ago of one filling up a couple of hundred yards form where we used to live.

Hey, how'd I miss this thread??!! Great build there, Dick - who says you can't build big aircraft? :D
-
Yup, comes in a clear bottle and seems to work just like the old one.

MV Lenses! Open out the headlight appropriately; insert lens to test fit. When satified with fit, glue lens to housing. Add external embellishments as appropriate. Simple! Works a treat on aircraft landing lights too.

Nice one, Jeff! Bit of a novelty to see photos of plastic models on the Forum nowadays........
-
You're all wrong - the most built aircraft in history is Airfix's Spitfire JE-J...... :P
-
The engine on the 21stC kit goes together very easily - as there are very few parts and little detail, I am not all that surprised.... And all cowled up: Shoul dbe a quick and easy build, if I can drag myself away from the other 4 projects I have going at the moment...... :o
-
They probably mean we should get a life...... :P
-
That's the old Airfix kit - great to see one built! :)
-
So I made a start on my 21st Century kit - also 1/32, but about 1/10th the price...... ;) The obligatory parts shot: The kit features all the parts already separated from the sprues. Detail is a bit soft, and the panel lines are a little heavy, but at thest the thing isn't covered in rivets! As it is basically an unmade version of their 1/32 display model, there are some big compromises in both the method of construction and in the levels of detail. Basically, it has about 1/10th the amount of detail in the Trumpy kit.....It does have a crew figure, so here's a potrait of Johnny Pilot (who bears more than a passing resemblance to Michael Schumacher!) Give him a big wave back-at-ya, why don't you?! Cockpit detail is very simplfied, but adequate for my needs - which are to showcase the Fleet Air Arm version(incidentally, the first Corsairs to be flown operationally from carriers, rather than from airfields, were Royal Navy ones.) - so I built and painted it as is, with some simple weathering and a decal for the instrument panel: No seat belts yet, as I'll be using Johnny Pilot - there are enough redundancies nowadays without putting this guy out to pasture.

Alan W Hall Tribute/memorial Group Build
PaulBradley replied to JohnRatzenberger's topic in Aircraft
Interesting build, John - funny how things have changed over the years. And it is interesting how the more modern kit has caught you out, so to speak! :o I shall be doing a relatively simple conversion for this GB - the old Airfix Jet Provost T.3 back to a T.1, the fubn oart of which will be crash-moulding a new canopy - something I've never tried before! Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing more, John, especially how you tackle that bomb bay! -
Should be nice. And apparently, they have now switched to Cartograf decals.....finally! As for Airfix going under again, we'll have to see how their parent company, Hornby, fares in this recession. At the moment, its anyone's guess.

Hey Greg - the more the merrier!! :D Dick - I have no idea what features PB offers - I just use my account to post stuff online!

1. We should either start a new thread for the builds, or re-title this one appropriately. 2. I also have a photobucket acocount and it would be easier for me to post from there. :) 3. Can we start yet? :P
-
Ron, should we each start our own build threads, or did you want to contain it all in this one?
-
Cool build, John, and nicely done in the time available!
