Here are some more photos of the build. The model was pretty easy to paint; overall MM Acryl Army Helo Green (FS 34031) on the outside and on the inside I used Tamiya NATO Black. Other shades were also used to break up the overall colors. The inside of the engine area was MM Yellow Zinc Chromate with a mist coat of fluorescent green from the square bottle in the transmission area. Adding the Zactomodels exterior set really helped the kit also. So, here they are... I used Lite Bright pegs for the screens on the IP. I wired up the Disco Ball and the tail area. On the rotor, I placed dots of red, blue, green and yellow with a toothpick for the maintenance indicators. I also made umbilicals from the fuselage to the weapon stations. After everything was together I gave it a dry brushing with Tamiya weathering powders.

Thanks, Gil. That glass was the hardest part of the build. Had to hack up some interior things to make it fit just so. Some more pics to come. I forgot how to post them...haven't finished anything in a while. I really enjoyed building this one. Bill

Here is the Kiowa Warrior from MRC. Great build. Very wordy directions, but comprehensive. I also used the Zactomodels exterior details. I added some seat belts, a CAR-15 on the IP.

I always wanted that kit. Not enough lawn mowing money at that time. The kit looks great Bob. Bill

Nice job Bryan! They all look great. How about a nice SUV for them all to get to their destination? Bill
-
EXSSSSelent! Maybe the bow string broke on the armor plates? Bill
-
Nicely done! Your painting of the leather coat, helmet and gloves look great. The scene is very nice also. Bill

Nicely done. That's a very cool looking scheme and well executed. Bill

Yery cool! You captured the skin and hair color great. Beware the Ide's of March. Bill

The diving judges give it a 10. Well executed. Bill

Great job Gil! That Nautilus support is well worth the money for this build. It's nice to see a black radome on one of these birds. Cool scheme too. Bill

Looking great so far! As for another big kit, it isn't...it's ultra big. Cockpit looks fantastic. Bill

Great job, Ron. The railings and such that you added really set that off nicely. Did the rail come with the kit or is it a piece of HO track? Bill

Well done, sir! Since we mere mortals can't see anything really wrong here; what were the worst sticking points? Fit and finish look great. Bill

Looks great...even without a base. Bill

Nice work! You can tell the lineage of the TV series from this ship. Great idea. Bill

Well done. Your attention to the small things really make an interesting build. Really great work done so far! Bill

Thank you guys. This was a fun model to build. I didn't like the decal options in the kit though. I couldn't find any on line either. So I made my own. Gil, The seat belts helped the cockpit a lot. I forgot to get a descent shot of them though. There were to seated figures that came in the kit that were really nice. I almost used them but i am going to save them for another build. The brake lines on the main gear really helped there too. Christopher, I used bare metal foil cut to size and then wrapped it around the strut. I like how it looks with so much oleo showing. Bill

Hi all, This was supposed to be a quick build, which it basically was. I started putting things together and before I knew it, it was practically done. I added some seatbelts in the cockpit and some brake lines and such on the landing gear. I also took the step out of the the leading edge slat area (the red area) where the top of the wing transitions to the slat well. The paint scheme came from the Classic Air Frames 1/48 kit. Paints used were Vallejo and Model Master. I resized the CA decal sheet from the kit and printed it on my computer. Overall they came out pretty good. I like the color scheme with the three blues/grays. This kit is ancient but it fit great. The detail is accurate and there aren't a million pieces. What's not to like? Any comments always welcome. Bill

BOOM, BOOM, out go the lights! Cool looking conversion project Bryan. Great job as usual. Bill

Nice job on a very spindly looking kit. I don't mind PE but I don't know if I would tackle something that is just that...'a better man than me, Gunga Din'. Very interesting subject that really paved the way to the moon. Bill

Nice work Duke. Did the kit come with the floded wing option? Well done. Bill
