Woof! Sounds good. -
Wnder how long it took for them to figure that out? No screens then, eh? LOL
-
Chris, Did you drill out all of the portholes or were they already open? What are you going to fill them with? It's really looking good already. Bill
-
Gil, are you going to hang a big ol' Rascal off the side of it? Just kidding. May not? You amaze me at the pace of your builds. GREAT job. Bill

Charles, I showed this my friend last night and he was amazed. He said the only thing that's missing is the skinny cat hanging around the dumpster. He has been in many areas of the world and said that you really got this right...except for the cat, there is always a cat. Fantastic job, sir. Bill -
Good luck on the build. Your "slow" will get it done in no time. My slow is measured in 'dog years'. Looking forward to seeing this come along. Bill

After fits and starts and trying to figure out a game plan on what to tackle first on this beast, I think I may have a road map to completion. I have started to put together the airwing, LCAC's Landing craft and other fiddley bits. I have the hull taped and ready to be painted below the waterline. I have to get all of the parts that go inside the hangar deck and wet deck built and painted before I even try to put any thing in this hull. I'll try to get some pictures up and posted soon. Family life took the summer. Our daughter has gone off to college 2000 miles away. Maybe now I can slow down and get a jump on this thing. BTW..I am finishing up another model before I go full tilt into the Wasp. Sorry for the meloncholy part. Bill

What Mark said. Bill

Rob, your ship is looking good. Keep up with the pics as you go along. I want to see how you tackle your "ice". Ron, nice directions on the dio. I have been wanting to do something like that with a submarine but couldn't figure a good way to do it. I think your explanation is just what I needed. Great job both of you. Bill

Looking good Chris. I wish I could get back to building...not in the cards right now. Good luck in finishing. Bill

Whoa! That looks great. Very impressive. Bill -
Great job Chris. What did you think of the kit overall? It looks great on your "ocean". You have to show us how you made that base. Very cool. Bill

Chris, What was the pupose of the brass with the linoleum decking? is it just where the sheeting would meet? It seems like everything is coming along well for the build so far. Cool ship. One of my guys has a 1/200 scale "Yuki" he built some time ago. Keep up the good work. Bill

One of my favorite aircraft. Excellent model...really like the wing fairings. Which kit did you use? They should have built more of them when they had the chance. Wrong plane, wrong time. Bill

Some more pic's. -
Hello peoples, I started this a little while ago and am now stuck waiting for a decal sheet to come out for it. I have built the "Marine" bird but have since decided to make it up as an "ARMY" version. I am building this for my neighbor who used to work on them in the late 50's. He was in the ARMY. I tried MPC to get their decal sheet for their ARMY version, but they don't have them to sell. I await aftermarket decals. No, I'm not that good at cutting stencils for all of the markings. On with the build. This was a great kit, a complete cockpit (except collectives) and engine along with a nicely detailed cargo area with detail to the rear bulkhead. I cut out areas where photo-etch screens go around the nose and tail and tranmission. This really sets off the model. There are etched seat belts in the cockpit and on the seats in the cargo area. These look realy nice on the seats after painting them. You build up the cockpit first and then the engine. I added some hoses and wiring to the engine to make it pop alittle more. After it is put in the nose of the chopper you can hardly see any of the wiring. I know it's there. Building up the inner core interior first and then attaching it to the fuselage halves goes smoothly. I used very little putty on the bottom of the helicopter. The fit was great all around. I painted the interior Dark Gull Grey with international orange seat backs and olive drab seats. The seat belts were painted up camouflage grey with aluminum fittings. A brown oil wash was put on to highlight the interior. Outside, I used Olive Drab over black panel lined areas. I built up the color slowly and when finished I added some Yellow Chromate to the Olive Drab and painted the centers of some of the panels. I think it cam out pretty good. I am now stuck waiting to put on the fiddley bits and decals. A few detail painting areas and we will call the one done,,,someday. Questions, comments, funny stories all welcome. Thanks for looking.

Very cool. Love the track. Whatever else you tried, you nailed it. Great job. Bill

NICE! New tool? Bill

Hey Mark, What was used on the natural metal. I like the finish along with the cowling. Nice job. Bill

I already have 1 helicopter almost finished...only took 2 months. I picked up Trumpeter's UH-1N set so now I think I have everything I need. I have to redo the ALCAC that is shown above as there is more photo-etch than anticipated to attach to it. The WEM set has about 5x's the amount of photo etch than I have used on one build. I am really getting geeked to get this re-started. This should be fun. Stay tuned. Bill

Hi all, I am looking for the decal sheet from the 1/48 Gallery CH-34 ARMY rescue chopper, kit #64103. What is needed are the markings for the standard green helo. I have built the MARINE version of the model but want to do it in ARMY markings. I am building this for my neighbor who worked on them while he was in the ARMY. I tried contacting MRC and they told me the decal sheet is not available by itself for purchase. Any help in this matter would be appreciated. Let me know of any cost for the decals and postage. Thanks, Bill

After 6 months of waiting for the White Ensign photo-etch set to arrive, it finally came yesterday. WEM has been having problems getting their orders out due to a vendor problem. Anyway, was it worth the wait? Why yes, it was. I really like there stuff along with their directions. Pics to follow, as soon as I figure out my new camera. This build was supposed to have been almost completed by now. Oh well. I wouldn't have been able to work on it until about now anyway like all of my other started but not finished builds due to family matters. At least I can proceed with the model now, instead of waiting for pieces parts to arrive, so I can finish a sub-assembly. Not much of an update, I know; but at least there should be some progress going forward now. Bill
