One can never go wrong with a Spitfire. I have both Tamiya versions and I'm wondering what the main differences are between the two kits. Yours is really nice.

I though this kit was a very early kit and there was a second updated edition in the 1960s.. So after checking ScaleMates it shows that it is the same kit from 1956 up to the issue of the new mold in 2013. It is a 65 year old mold.

Thank you Keith.

Hey nice work! I've never built any of Hasegawa's 1/48 jets except their F-16D which I built in 1991.. I was impressed with the quality and fit but have not built any more of those kits. Well done Mark.

Hey that's really cool Gil. The only big boy model I bought as a kit was the Revell 1/48 F-102 with many parts. It was like $5 or so in 1967. I learned to apply decals with that kit. That kit nowadays is worth hundreds of dollars.

Yes they did and as you can see that the wings are a bit droopy from the working features and also to accommodate the landing to be able to retract the struts are too short. These are the two issues. The wing is easy to correct, but I did not want ot deal with the landing gear. I'm not a good scratchbuilder.

OKay, that is really nice! Now I know you had to do a lot of work with the fit of the clear parts. They are slightly smaller than the fuselage openings. What did you do to fix that?

It might represent the station/base.

Yeah I would shoot it down too! Just Kidding! 🙂 Very nice job on this kit. I think this is the best rendition of the kit I've seen. Nicely done Ron.

Excellent work and the detail painting is top notch. Well done sir.

Thank you Keith! Even if I wanted to I don't think I could figure out all those moving parts. 🙂

I've always like this kit but have not bought one. Price probably is the reason. It looks great. I notice that other kit makers don't taper the cowling to meet the prop like this one. Well done sir.

Thanks Carlos. The only other models of this kit I have seen are the photos on the side of the Revell box or catalogs. One thing I did learn from building this kit is that the windshield does not have painted frames. The side glass butts up against the front windshield. They do look like frames and modelers paint them.l.

Here is the scene from Flight of the Intruder where Sandy makes it's appearance.

Finished! So here is the classic Revell kit built out of the box. The only additions were the small white blade antenna on the spine and the aerial. The stand if from the Otaki C-5 kit.

The kit decals from the Vietnam version are now added after finishing the camo using Mission Models paints. The underwing stores are also from the Vietnam kit.

After applying dark gray auto primer I used Tamiya primer spray. The model is starting to take shape. First color sprayed on; AK SEA tan.

Work continues. The model was built with gear up. The forward seam on the dive brakes is easily seen so I left that open. Outer wing and tail are on the last photo.

The wing root fit was really good. The Perfect Plastic putty feathered great. There were sink marks which the putty fixed nicely.

The kit had been started and so I simply continued where the modeler left off. Plastic Putty worked great in this case

The Revell 1/40 AD-6 was first issued in 1959. It is not a box scale kit. Revell issued other kits in the same scale. Other makes did the same, namely Bandai. It had a slew of working features and many parts to go with it. I never did like all those features and so I decided to build my version wheels up thus freeing me from trying to figure out all the gears and levers that needed to assembled. The model was originally planned as a USN bird but the decals I had were not very good. The assembly was an exercise in puttying, sanding and repeat. The kit had been started and I simply continued the process.
