Thanks. Unfortunately I was unemployed at the time and had to sell many of my builds including this one. But I'm sure I have others in the stash.

Looking for a specific Testors Model Kit
thevid replied to Gregsed56's topic in Space, Sci-Fi & Fantasy
I remembered your post and while checking my stash I came across The Roswell UFO kit which I bought in Roswell, NM in 1996 at the 50th anniversary of whatever happened that day. Unfortunately it is kit no. 555. Sigh. Anyway here's a photo of Testor's display at Roswell. It was a very unusual and fun event with media from all over the world. All one had to do was paint a donkey with green paint and you would be published worldwide. -
Thanks Marks, I appreciate it. Now to build the FROG and Lindberg versions and I'll have all of the early Ju88s done.
-
Thank you Ron. I really appreciate it.
-
thank you Gil. It's a long way from the bare plastic, gloss black (props and wheels) and silver (landing gear)painted kit I made decades ago.
-
Wow I did not realize that Airfix had a very early Gladiator. That's really neat. I enjoy your Aurora kit builds. Well done sir.

this is Matchbox's kit of the Me110 and is built out of the box with only changes being the decals. It was first released in 1976 and unlike earlier Matchbox releases this kit has mostly fine panel lines unlike the deep engraving or earlier kits.
-
Thank you Gil. I built four vintage Me262 kits together, Matchbox, FROG, Heller and Hasegawa. Here they are. From top to bottom: Hasegawa, Heller, FROG and Matchbox.

Thanks Mark! I have several copies in my warehouse (it's beyond a stash at this point) but I had never built it because of modeler's syndrome. You know, "I have to get this resin set, it's not accurate" etc, and all the little traps we set for ourselves. Once freed of that, started to enjoy modeling again.

Looking for Chevy 1964 Pickup Blue Green paint color
thevid replied to thevid's topic in Cars, Trucks, & Motorcycles
Thank you Gary! -
When the new Airfix Me262 came out I built the original version from Airfix for a fun comparison. It is built out of the box and the decals are from the new Airfix Me262. For a 61 year old mold it does hold up. The last photo shows the new and old kits.

Simply amazing. Wonderful model there David. Well done sir.

Thank you Dennis. People ask me why I build these old kits. As a child I always wanted to build them like in the catalogs and instructions (Revell and Monogram) but I did not have the skills or experience. So in a way I'm fulfilling that goal. Plus they are so much fun to build right out of the box, especially without any additions. Thanks. David

This is an eBay purchase of a couplle of built relics and of them being Aurora's P-38 ca late 1950s. It is one of Auroras better kits so I decided to see if I could make a decent representation with the basic parts. It was missing the props and rear tail elevator. I used Monogram parts to replace the missing parts. The props fit as does the tail. So this is where we stand. It will an inflight model. I won't be doing any updates at all, only using the parts provided. The USAF and later National insignia are kinda cool in a weird sort of way. I'll probably sand down the biscuit sized rivets though. David

Here is one of my favorite photos from my collection. It's an AFSC F-105 from Eglin AFB at Hill AFB on a cold day.

Sadly I won't be making the trip to Vegas. I am eagerly waiting for the local shows to get going again, like the Richmond and DC shows.

Mark and Gil, yea both of you are correct. I left the panel lines simply because that is Matchbox's trademark on most of their 1/72 kits. It was my way of simply giving a tip of the hat.

This is an older build I made several years ago. The I did was use an Airfix cockpit. props, and nose cone. I like those cowlings!
-
Hi Mark. These little kits are basic but they certainly look the part when done. Thanks!

Lovely model! The eagle certainly looks very nice. Well done Sir!

Gone on say it! Here is my favorite TV robot. This is the smaller of the two versions put out by Polar Lights (Aurora Copies). It is a fun build. Hardest part was finding color references, and only after I completed it did I find lots of neat photos.

Hi Mark, I love those panel lines too! There a couple of sellers on eBay that specialize in off the wall diorama stuff. One is rebelalpha or just do a search for 1/76 scale figures. Here is the listing for it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/142837792909?hash=item2141cbc08d:g:c2UAAOxy4~BSQ8Md

The Matchbox kit was first issued in 1972 and later editions had an extra part to make a bubble top version. One can clearly see the trademark engraved lines on the fuselage. On this one I used a spare resin cockpit (make unknown) and also a Squadron vacform canopy. Paint is by Tamiya. It certainly looks like a Spitfire when done.

Yes indeed. The detail is very nice. Well done Mark.
