  1. Congrats Mark>
  2. Ok Mark, Call me stupid. What the heck is a BEEP?
  3. Well ok Propheads he I go. The funny thing is is that I was in Naval aviation and started building models of airplanes when I first got into this hobby. So that being said I voto for the F4U-1D corsair and the P-51 Mustang as a tie. Love both of them. Now if they could make tank fly, oh wait the Russians did. Yaaa, now that is cool. Chris
  4. Welcome aboard Scott. Chris
  5. Mark, The anti-slip coating is basically the same NoN-Skid coating that we used on the flight deck in the Navy. Try this; get some model railroad fine sand or graval and mix it in with your regular paint. paint it on the model and ta da you done. Chris
  6. Looking good Mark.
  7. Mark, That is really a great site. I will add that to my favorites list. Well there you have it, you should be all set. Chris
  8. Ok sorry about the last link for the post war engine. He is one taken at the US 1st Inf. Musuem. This should clear up any color question.
  9. Willys was the main builder of these jeeps thru most of WWII. Ford started to make them around 1944. Here is a link of a photo that shoud help you out. For the most part the engines were O.D. green. http://www.flickr.com/photos/tysonneil/485843577/ Hope this helps, Chris
  10. Here is a shot of my recently completed German "223" armour car in progress. If you go to the Armour forum I have posted photos of the completed build. Forgot about this thread and wanted to add my two cent. Thanks everyone. Keep this thread going. I love seeing all the different builds in progress. Chris

  15. Tom, I have the old 1995 DML kit in my stash. It builds into the M26E2. I have not built this kit yet, but as others have said, just build what you have. It looks to be a good kit. Enjoy, Chris

    German 223

Ok here is my latest build. It is the old 1972 Tamiya kit of the German radio armoured car "223". I updated the kit with the following. Added a full interior from Tank Workshop, added PE parts. Replaced the width indicators with brass ones from Voyager, replaced the machine gun barrel with a turned brass two part one, scratch built the light guard cage from brass, added the wire for the frame antenna, scratch built several parts here and there, replaced the gas and water cans with a resin set, dry tranfer decals and painted tactical markings added, scratch built camo net and camo pole stakes, scratch built foot steps from brass, replaced the tow cables with rope wire. Weathered with Mig pigments, dry brushing, several different colors of wash, grafite pencil. Painted with Tamiya paints and Model master paints. Enjoy, Chris
  17. Welcome aboard Brad!!
  18. I have several projects going on. One of them is this German 223 armoured car. I actually have it built and in the process of weatering and adding detail to it right now. I will post photos of it on the armour forum later when complete. As far as the other projects I have a build log going on the armour forum for that also. it is the Tiger-I build log. Two other kits going T-55 and a diorama with a T-34. Those two are taking a back burner for now.
  19. Kurt, Welcome aboard. Glad to have you. Remember, once you go armour, you will be hooked. Model on!! Chris
  20. JLK welcome aboard. Forget the planes and cars, stick with the military vehicals. Armour rules!!! If you need any advise about cars and planes, well cars crush really nicely when a good solid tank runs over it and Planes make very pretty fireballs after being shot out of the sky by an AAA vehical. Just my two cents. Chris
  21. I use Tamiya paints 99.5% of the time. I do use MM paints but only for detail work, like headlights and talelights etc.. I never spray with the MM paints. I have not gotten the results that I would like. Love the Tamiya paint. Make sure to use the brand name thinner. Very important. Chris
  22. Fantastic job! I too would like to know where you get the drafting linen? I have always used foil for my straps and as Mike said it is a little tuff to paint at times. Chris
  23. Welcome aboard, I be seeing you in 2012 for sure at the show. Chris
  24. Welcome aboad Ernie, Glad to have you. Nice to see a fellow armour modeler come on board too. Chris
  25. SOOOOOOOO Your a 125+ short. Well in that case as punishment for your crime of fibbing. You must have 200 models built by the time the Article comes out. Good luck, you better get movin. SLACKER!!
