Got home and checked my model mag's. The artical is not about British M-7's , but Canadian's> It was in the Military Modelling <October> issue. Talked about the vehichles used on D-Day. The M-7 that was mentioned in the artical was the later version with the deeper pulpit. The one the British used in the desert had the lower pulpit. I too have not done a lot of research yet. So I hope this helps a little. Chris

Oh my God!! STOP EVERYTHING!!!! The Duke is building something other then 1/72 scale or smaller. A Kodak moment for sure. :D Just kidding Duke. Everything looks great. I really like the French Armour car. Cool. Oh, by the way, in the latest Fine Scale Modeler Mag. Guest what? In the front section there are a few people listed that have built models with counts as big or greater then yours. One guy even did an addition to his house just to showcase the built models. Just a little tid bit. You are not alone DUKE. Chris -
Keith, I have never heard of them before now. I clicked on the link you gave. Seems to work fine. Does not look like that any U.S. dealers sell these, if that is what you are looking for. I did click on the link on the site for dealers. Looks like you will need to buy from a Euro company. Good luck. Sorry I could not help much. If you do buy, let us know how they work. Chris

Mike, Thanks, this helps big time. Now I must go order some tamiya thinner. Chriss
-
Ok, I need help. I just tried to use the Tamiya liquid surface primer that comes in a bottle. I have never used this stuff before. Since I use Tamiya acrilic paints I figured that this stuff was acrilic. I could not tell if this was true or not because everything on the bottle was in japance. Well anyway when I added the Tamiya thinner the stuff became a big messy blob in the mixing jar. My question is this. What do you use to thin the stuff? Do you thin the stuff at all? Take in mine that I plan on using my airbrush to spray this. Need help? Chris Graeter

The Archer was based on the Valentine tank. The 17 pdr was mounted backwards in an open top fighing compartment. Produced from 1942-1944.

Max, This vehichle was produced from 1944 on. The base color leaving the factory would have been dark yellow. The field unit would have applied the camo when they received it. Ken has given some good examples. It really depends on where the vehicle that you are modeling served. If it was on the Russian front, depending on time of year it could have a white wash over the yellow. There was no standard camo patteren by the Germans in WWII. Some vehicles in the same unit would be painted closely the same , but non alike. I have seen vehicles painted with Dark green spots over the base yellow. Dark green and brown strips over the base yellow. I have seen different forms of the "Ambush" patteren on these vehicles. If you are still woundering about the camo patteren, check references. Try finding a good book on the 8-Rod series of German armour cars. That will help greatly. Also try looking at others work on line. Track-Links, Missing-Links, War Wheels, IPMS Show photos, ect. Duke, Your models are really taking shape nicely. I am, building the BMP-2 right now to add to my Russian army. Your Russian models really stand out. Nice job. Ok, as for the F-86, think about this just for a minute. It may be time to bring back one of the tried and true modeling techniques. that we as children perfected. A.K.A> FIRECRACKERS!!! YA BABY< BLOW THE HELL OUT OF IT!! Don't you remember how much fun it was to stick about ten firecrackers in a model, light 'um, and run like heck, and them BOOM . That warm fuzzy feeling comes over you as you just realized the power you just unlashed on this poor piece of crap model that totally pee'd you off building it. B) Satifaction at its best!! Well just a thought! Keep posting the great model photos. I true love seeing the progress on them. Chris -
Wow, What a creep. Mark thanks for the heads up. Chris

Ed, Thanks! This was a quick fun weekend build. Sorry to all you airplane guys, I'm not trying to P#%* you guys off. Just having a little fun, in my own sick way. ;) Chris

This is the old Testors 1/35 scale Huskie kit. My model club received a kit stash from a modeler that wants to focus on other things in his life. Now I am not a plane modeler. I am an armour modeler, I have built some planes when I was younger. I bought the kit for $2.00 to help out my club with raising money for our next contest. So the question was this. What does an armour modeler do with a airplane kit. AHHH the light bulb has lit!! you build the kit fast, paint it a bland one tone paint - marked for targets, place it in a diorama sence. Hence a U.S. Army firing range. A place were old warriors go to die. Well that is my take on it anyway. Enjoy, Chris

James, You are a fine scratch builder, and the weathering on that rig is spot on. Really makes the model jump out. Chris
-
Andy, Nice job! Love the improvements. Chris

OH CRAP!! I can see it now, GODFINGER II - " The return " No tanks means free gold for the taking.
-
The mud is a combination of Mig pigments , dirt from the back yard, and some moss mixed together. I applied it with a small paint brush by hand. Chris
-
James, Welcome aboard. It's good to have a fellow armour builder on board too. Again Welcome. Chris

Richard, I was a catapult crew chief serving on board USN aircraft carriers during the 80's. I do not recall any WAVE patterens on the aircraft during that period. Basically the grey was faded into the white where they meet. I served both on the west coast and east coast ships. All the paint on these aircraft was flat. dull as hell, no gloss or semi-gloss. As a side not, some aircraft still were painted in the all white paint patteren with very colorful numbers and squarden markings. Check your references to be sure. Hope this helps, Chris
