ghodges Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Building the old Aurora 1/48 Sopwith Triplane (@1963). Just got the interior built and the fuselage buttoned up. And, so I don't go bonkers, and easy OOTB build; the Hasagawa 1/48 Ki-100...just needs gloss coat and decals! Hope to have at least one of theses done by New Years! Questions, comments, and critiques welcome. Cheers! GIL
ghodges Posted December 26, 2011 Author Report Posted December 26, 2011 A little more progress...painting and decaling is done on the Ki-100 And also got the tailplanes and bottom wings onto the Triplane... The gear struts are also glued in place, but not the cross bar. I want to be able to remove it to ease the sanding and drilling on the underside. GIL
Mark Deliduka Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 Beautiful work Gil! It's always a pleasure seeing your works in progress! Keep them coming!
VonL Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 Wow - advanced play here. That Sopwith 'pit is fantastic.
ghodges Posted December 29, 2011 Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) Got the Ki-100 done! More pics up in the aircraft section! GIL Edited December 29, 2011 by ghodges
ghodges Posted January 10, 2012 Author Report Posted January 10, 2012 (edited) Still progressing on the Sopwith Triplane. The initial primer coat is on and the rigging holes all drilled. The model is "pinned" together here, to allow for a test fit and to check alignment. More pics after she's painted! Cheers! GIL Edited January 10, 2012 by ghodges
Mark Aldrich Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Very Impressive. I love the way you make your yellows pop!!!
ghodges Posted January 16, 2012 Author Report Posted January 16, 2012 (edited) Got the painting done! Corrected the bottom nose contour, adding the concave area with sheet plastic, and also scribed in the stitch line on the bottom. Decals are up next! GIL Edited January 16, 2012 by ghodges
RGronovius Posted January 16, 2012 Report Posted January 16, 2012 I like the triplane. I've been itching to try one; I picked up a couple (1/32 Academy Camel and 1/24 Matchbox Tiger Moth). Haven't had the motivation to try one. I'm still trying to clear off some armor builds.
ghodges Posted January 22, 2012 Author Report Posted January 22, 2012 Decaling is done! Just a few minor things left, except for that "rigging" chore! Still, getting close! GIL
ClareWentzel Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Both models look good. I am a particular fan of the Tripe. Your interior was fantastic. It looks really great. An Aurora kit??? Well done.
JeffS Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Very nice, Gil. A real Aurora classic that tripe is.
ghodges Posted January 27, 2012 Author Report Posted January 27, 2012 Sopwith Tripe is done! More pics up in the a/c topic! Cheers! GIL
