Awesome work Mark! Man, I gotta finish something!
-
I'm waiting for the 1/72 scale kit. The resin one is far too expensive for this old boy...

Beautiful job on that truck! I love it!

The Duke's Workbench in 2011: Updated 12/2811
Mark Deliduka replied to Mark Deliduka's topic in Photos: On the Bench
No Mark, it doesn't. In actuality, it ends as you see it, with the turreted flatcar. Also, everything you see in that pic, is repeated in front of the train, as the Germans placed the locomotive in the center of the train. In that pic, I already have the pther tender in front of the train. All that's left to do for this side of the train is add all the metal handles and steps, and get a quad AA gun for the artilleriewagen. . -
Sweet! I'm still watching this. Thanks for the markings info too.

Well, for me it wasn't Workbench Saturday, it was Workbench Monday. My latest updates are posted in the Manufacturing Tour. Feel free to check them out and leave comments.

The Duke's Workbench in 2011: Updated 12/2811

And the Manufacturing tour goes on... It's all armor this time; I have yet to get the decals on the helicopters. I still need to dig them out. This past Monday I was able to get some progress done on three trucks I've been building. This first one is my MAC tanker truck. I got this fully assembled, including the windows of the cab, and even started painting it. The underside of the chassis is painted, along with the wheels. Next will be putting on the three-tone camo pattern on this truck: Another truck I finished assembling is my IBG British Bedford QLD. I even got a basecoat of paint on it now: Probably too soon. There are a few more fiddly bits to add to this. The third truck is my Studebaker semi. I got the windows and windscreen in this and then got a basecoat of paint on it too. This one is almost ready for decals: Next, I managed to get three more railcars done on my armored train. The flak artillery car, the flatbed car holding the Panzer 38(t) and the turreted flatcar at the end. Here they are minus the metal handholds and steps: You can see the completed Panzer 38(t) in the flatcar. I have one more to build. Here are all the cars and engine that I've completed except for handrails, steps and wire antenna that will all be done with copper wire: This makes me about half done with the assembly of this train, except for the quad AA guns I need to get. Well, that's everything so far. I'm hoping to get some more of these done later on. Meanwhile, thanks all for looking in, comments are welcome. -
I could and did! A few of their F-4 Phantoms did not measure up. There are some gems though in that line; I especially love their small scale armor, even though they don't always stay in scale...

Interesting! I wonder how a Stuart would have looked in IDF colors...
-
Cool. Thanks for the heads up about the Corsair. It does look good though. So far the only "what-if's" I ever built have been ships; so far only one, but I have plans for a second one.

Incredible Ed! That's brilliant! I'm blown away! I gotta see if I can try that myself! You rock!

The Duke's Workbench in 2011: Updated 12/2811

Well, thanks to actually getting work, I have slowed down a little. At least i was able to get done with some progress at St. Crispin's yesterday. Here is my latest progress to date. I'll start with my two Russian helicopters. I have them both camouflaged now. All that's left is to detail paint them and then decal them up. Time to dig into my decal stash... The Mi-6 Harke: The Mi-10 Hook: Next is my armor. I almost finished up my little MAC tanker. I only have to put windows into the windshield frame and then the assembly will be done. All that will be left then is paint and decals, then weathering. This truck is bigger than I'd thought for a WWI-era truck! And now, I have managed to get one armored train car fully assembled and ready for painting. Another one, the commandowagen is almost ready for paint; I just need to add an aerial on the stanchions on top. I also almost completed my little Pz 38(t) that goes in one of the flatcars. You cans see it here, sitting in front of the train: That's about all I got finished to date. Yeah, not as much as I'd hoped, but at least the train is moving along. I'm hoping to have the base delivered on Saturday so I can start to work on it too. Well, that's all I have for now. Thanks all for looking in. Remember, comments are welcome. -
Awesome pics! I love the one Thread where he shows all his helicopters. I've also built every one of those he showed, but mine aren't nearly as good! In fact, I've also completed about 85% of everything he's posted there, but again, his far outshine mine! It is awesome seeing all these great models I built done even better by such a Master! Thanks for the link!

A Whole New Ballgame For Me
Mark Deliduka replied to Phantomphreak's topic in Tools, Tips & Techniques
Brian, I apologize for getting back so late to you. Yes, this gunship was painted in overall Gunship Grey. Building the kit took about two weeks total. The only issues I ran into were that the rear ramp tended to break alot as the hinge pins are so delicately molded. I glued the ramp in place but a number of times, it broke of and had to be re-glued. One of the guns, the forward one if I remember correctly, kept breaking off every time I handled the model for painting, decaling, and finishing. Aside from that, the wings, fuselage and even canopy went together very well. I do love having this model hanging from my ceiling. My father was at Hurlburt Field with the 1st Special Operations Wing as an observer at the Air Ground Operations school. He was there from 1971 to about 1981. When did you serve there? -
Looking sharp Mark! I see you got the paint situation under control. That bird is coming along nicely! BTW I never knew the Israelis flew these. I may have to get one to add to my Israeli Air Force.

Somebody got a link? It would be nice to see alot of 1/72 scale stuff, especially from someone as prolific as I am.

Okay, here we are with my latest progress. I'll start with my armor. All of these trucks I started at St. Crispin's this past Monday. This first one is IBG's 1/72 scale Chevy CWT 15 utility truck. The rear part is finished, but the cab and chassis are about half done each: Next is this PST 1/72 scale Studebaker Semi truck. It is all finished and ready for paint: You can see I already started on the wheels. This last truck is my RPM 1/72 scale Mack tanker truck. The rear tank is finished; the cab is almost done, and the chassis is barely started. The extraneous pieces/subassemblies you see go on the chassis, one of those subassemblies is the engine. I almost wish I could leave the hood open: I also managed to get some work done on my armored train. All the cars are fully assembled, gaps filled and seams and filler sanded. I will have to touch up a few of the worse seams and fit issues, but for the most part, I am free to move on to adding the detail parts. This includes the couplers. I have managed to add the train couplers to the engine, one tender, and one Geschutzwagen (gesundheit!) Here they are. The engine: The tender, front view: The tender, rear view: The Geschutzwagen front: The Geschutzwagen rear: n And finally, all three in line together: Well, that's all the progress I got done so far on my armor. Next up is my aircraft. I have one fixed-wing aircraft and three helicopters going. This is a quick little model I got for $5.00 at my IPMS meeting. It's the Pioneer 1/72 scale Beechcraft C-45 Expeditor. I did all this in an hour at St. Crispin's: Even the windows are masked for the first coat of paint. And now on to my helicopters. This first one is my MPC 1/72 scale German Puma I started some time back. Just got a coat of paint on her a week ago: Next is the Mi-10 Hook. I've got it almost completely assembled; all that's left is the crane operator's booth below the cockpit. Otherwise, this bird is finished. It was a real bear trying to figure out the way those landing gear struts were supposed to go! The Mi-6 Harke was much easier. I got the landing gear on it and then proceeded to give it the first basecoat: You can see the X-acto blade there for size reference. This puppy is a real horse! Biggest helicopter I ever build. I can't wait to get an Mi-26 Halo! And that completes my list of aircraft models in progress so far. Thanks all for looking in, comments are welcome. -
Thanks Greg!

Thanks Dave! I appreciate it very much. Now to get more progress done on my latest projects. Stay tuned.

Eric, thanks for the heads up. Also, I want to add my thanks for all you do as well. Guess I'll be doing alot of building this weekend since I'll have no Forums to visit! -
Hey Jim, I consider myself a Little League player on a very Big League field, but I still post mine. You may not feel you are in the league at all, but there's no reason to be embarrassed or ashamed of your work. We all started the same place. Heck, I'm barely past the starting block myself! Welcome to the Forums. You will learn alot from everyone here, and it'll also be fun!

Thanks guys! I appreciate the great comments. Rick, I will, as soon as I finish showing them at my IPMS meeting tonight. James, I hear ya! My father's plane (AC-130) made it back from a mission on only one engine once. Two had been knocked out by AA gunfire, the third quit 2/3rds of the way home. They still managed to land just fine.

Thanks Dan! I love seeing people post their personal experiences here. Great info. There's nothing like getting it straight from "the horse's mouth" so to speak.
