  1. Welcome to the Forums. Looking forward to your Group Build.
  2. Thanks Chris and Ed. I appreciate it very much.
  3. I had a guy tell me it was 1/76. I don't think he's right, since the box says 1/72 scale and it scales out to 1/72 scale. I'll keep labeling it as 1/72 scale. It is identical to the military version I built some years back. Lee, thanks for the compliment. I hope to get more done today.
  4. Cool! Three I never was able to find. What do I owe you for them? BTW, I found the Opel ambulance and Halftrack ambulance in my stash ans started them. I didn't even know I had them! Wild! I'll send a PM.
  5. Hello all. I had another great St. Crispin's Hobby Day in that I found time to get five models further along. Actually, two models further along, and three started. Without further ado, here is my lineup from that day. I'll begin with a model I started two hobby days ago. This is the Trumpeter M-26 Pershing that I'm making for my Marine Corps. I finally have all the assembly done and will be able to finish painting the upper hull and turret: Next up is the Tiger I Initial production that I also started a bit ago. Lots of small pieces; more than expected in a 1/72 scale armor kit. I finally have all the assembly finished on this one as well. Now all that's left is to 'sticky up' the gun so it doesn't stay in this permanent state of sag; apply the P/E grilles and other pieces, and then paint it: That reminds me; I need to pick up some more Panzer Grey. Onward and upward... I started one plane at the Hobby Day. This is the old Aurora kit of Cessna Skymaster. I built and painted the interior (leather seats!) and then closed it inside the two fuselage halves. I also added weight in the nose so that this will sit on it's landing gear better. This one, by the way will be the civilian version of this plane. Next, when going through my stash to find something to build at Hobby Day, I found two old classics in it : The ancient ESCI Opel Ambulance and the ancient ESCI Ambulance halftrack! I didn't even know I had them in my stash! Anyway, out they came and off to hobby day they went. I started both of them. This is the Opel Ambulance first. I left the front of the cab off so I can add a clear poly windshield and side windows to this before I close up the cab: Next I started the halftrack, concentration on the upper hull. Here it is mostly assembled: Man were those last two an awesome trip down Memory Lane! I couldn't stop smiling while I was building them; even when I ran into some fit issues. Just like old times! Well, that's all my progress I made so far. Enjoy people. Comments are always welcome and I appreciate all who look in and leave a comment. Oh, and just to let you all know; I'll be out of town for the next three days and probably won't be able to reply to anything before Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. Thanks again for looking in.
  6. Mark, I have the old Airfix Refueling set that I can probably submit for this Build. I may have already built one of the trucks; but I can always add the other to this Build. Let me see if I can.
  7. Mark, I'm probably in this one with you. I have to check my stash to see what I have to submit for this Build. I'll let you know.
  8. I kind of like Bob Liebman's idea. Why not honor the Korean War guys.
  9. "One man group builder" -->that's funny! B) Wait till I start my personal International Trucks Group Build! I got ten models of military trucks I will most likely start all at once. Hmmm.... Maybe I can start one of those on the new Forum....
  10. Beautiful job! Awesome finish! I have a suggestion for the wheels: to enhance them, you might try a little light drybrush of silver on the spokes. I do like the current color very well, it really sets off the car!
  11. Welcome all to the Group Builds Forums. This is open to anyone who wants to run a Group Build with his fellow IPMS Members. Anyone wishing to start a Group Build can propose a subject to build. Simply start a Thread with the title of your Group Build you wish to do and then list the description of it. Include a list of all acceptable models, subjects scales, etc. Finally, list the dates from start to finish. The host also can suggest a Group Build badge to be 'worn' as the build progresses or after it is completed, but that is optional. Anyone wishing to join the Group Build can post in the Thread stating what they want to build for it. The Host (originator) then updates the first page with the names of the participants and what they are building. Once the Group Build starts, everyone continues to post in the same Thread pics of their progress, or of someone needs, reference pics and links to help others in the Group Build. So, this is usually how it's done, and some of my fellow LEMurs and others from other boards will already know this. One thing I do want to stress above all else: HAVE FUN!
  12. Well, I think having more than one Group Build going would get more people involved as they would have more choices. Usually on the LEM, we have three to five going at the same time. However, if this is how you want it to be with only Group Build going, then that will work too. The person suggesting the Group Build is the host. It will be his job to keep the main page (first post) updated with the names of participants and the subjects they are building. So, William, start a new Thread with the title of your Group Build, than post what it is, subjects accepted and then list those participating and their subjects. Keep watch on your Thread because anyone wishing to join needs to post on your thread. Meanwhile, if enough people want to do a NASCAR Group Build, then someone could lead that and start a new Thread so others can join. I'm actually involved in three Group Builds already on two other Forums so I'll sit out the BoB Group Build. besides, I think I've already built everything that was used in that battle anyway!
  13. Thanks Mark! I'll send this one on to the MEWSIG
  14. Thanks Lee! I agree, it ain't bad for my having to almost force myself to finish it. I should be able to finish this soon.
  15. Hey all. This was one of the Trumpeter 1/72 scale T-55-type tanks I was building with all those other tanks before. I actually finished this about two weeks ago, but I forgot to post it! This is the Chinese Type 59 tank from Trumpeter. Since China exported a number of these to Iraq. I decided to make mine Iraqi to increase my Iraqi army. Here it is completed: I'm happy with this. I took the decals from ACE leftovers, as well as some old ESCI decals from their T-62. This was a fun little build. It's also all I have finished for now except for my ship in the Ships Forums. Feel free to check it out as well. Meanwhile, thanks for looking, comments are welcome.
  16. Okay, it's been a few weeks and I've managed to get a bit of progress done. This has also helped to fight off a depression that hit Sunday. I did start a couple of models; but alot of what I've been doing is trying to finish up some stalled projects. One of my LEMur friends got me motivated to gets some stuff done, and because of that, I finished one project (seen in the Ships Forum) and made some progress on another project for a friend. Okay, enough babbling. Here is what I got done so far. First off, in the helicopter Group Build on Hobbylink Intl. I managed to finally get the Nighthawk's interior ready to close up inside the fuselage. All I need are a couple of decals, which I can put on while the clear parts on the fuselage are drying: Meanwhile, I pushed my way through getting the three-tone camo pattern finished on my Japanese Sea Knight. I was so burned out on this, but I 'bulled' my way through it: Now I just have to clean up the windows, mask them, then clearcoat and this puppy will be ready for decals. And yes, the front landing gear is broken. I decided to leave it off until I can get more done. Next, the one project I was stalled on got some work done. This is my 1/48th scale F-106 Delta Dart I'm building for a friend. So far, I got the fuselage together (That was a job!) and added the air intakes. Still a few gaps to deal with that I thought would be covered. I did get the rest of the seams and such covered with Mr. Surfacer 500 in preparation for sanding. . Now for the two projects I started. Despite the fact that I'm pretty burned out on anything German, since that is all that seems to be released and/or built by everyone, I started a couple of German subjects This first on is the Dragon 1/72 scale Tiger I Initial that In started. They claim they shrunk it down from 1/35th and I'm beginning to believe it! There are more parts in this model than in any small scale Dragon armor model! Just look at the breech on the main gun to see what I mean: After I finish this one, I'll have completed all versions of the Tiger I released by Dragon in 1/72 scale. Next is another German subject, but this time, I'm making it different. Meet "Cuckoo", the Panther captured and briefly used by the British in WWII: Well, that's all the progress I've got done so far. I have finished two projects so feel free to check them out in the Armor and Ships Forums. Meanwhile, comments are welcome. Thanks to all who stop in to comment.
  17. Okay, thanks. I wonder if it can be airbrushed onto the decal sheet?
  18. Why not brush the Microscale decal film?
  19. Well, the full list includes the Opel Ambulance, the SdKfz. 251/8 Halftrack ambulance, the M-48-A5, the T-62M tank, SdKfz. 251/7 assault bridge, SdKfz. 251/16 (Mine was short shot on the upper hull) the PzKpfw III - Flamethrower and I think the T-34-76M 1943. These are the kits I never built. I usually keep my eyes peeled at shows for these if they are offered at a decent cost. Ones I've wanted to get a second or third kit of to make in another country's markings were the White scout car and the Leopard 1A3A4. I can usually pick them up at shows though. If you are offering, let me know what they would cost and I'll see what I can do.
  20. That is another good reason I like building the older kits. When I can stun another modeler with the name of an older kit that looks like one of the newer ones on the market, it feels so much more fulfilling. Well spoken Aaron.
  21. I've been thinking long and hard about this one. I think I finally figured it out. The kits that bring a smile to my face are the old ESCI 1/72 scale armor models. I would love to be able to pick up a few more; there are several I never got to build. Otherwise, I have most of the entire line built.
  22. Welcome Jamme. I too have built almost everything made in 1/72 scale armor and aircraft. so I know how it feels. I still have most of them too! Looking forward to seeing more from you.
  23. Nice Mark! I'll be looking forward to them. I'll try and get some more work done too. I gotta keep up with you after all!
  24. Mine do the same thing to me too. You should hear the squeals of excitement when I look to choose another project from the stash pile. Oh man, THAT didn't sound right!
  25. But 1/72 scale IS the 'real' armor scale! After all only the best and bravest try it. All other 'just stick to' the 1/35th scale models.
