Thanks Gil! I appreciate the compliment. I only actually finished 50 models in 2011. I'm counting the armored train as one since all the parts were designed to come together to make one unit. If I really wanted to pad my count I could count them all as individual models, but they don't all stand alone on their own as they are designed to be part of a larger whole. If you haven't already, feel free to check out my two Year in Review Threads on the Miscellaneous Forums showing everything I've built this past year. Thanks again for the compliment Gil!

Happy New Year everyone! As of the 30th of December, I have managed to finally complete a final four models for 2011. That's right. With these final three armor models I have brought my collection of small scale armor models up to 587 pieces. Wow, 13 more and I'll have 600 finished! Anyway, on to these last ones for 2011. Two of them are Jeeps from Dragon. One is sporting a .50 caliber machine gun and the other has two bazookas. Here they are: In addition to these two, I also managed to complete another SA-2 Guideline SAM launcher. Four more and I'll have a full battery: And there they are, my last armor models from 2011. I also finished one aircraft that is shown in the Aircraft Forums as well. Feel free to check it out. Meanwhile, Happy New Year and thanks for looking in!

Okay everyone, here's my final aircraft for 2011. This is the Fujimi BAe Hawk strike version. Not much to say. I have an interceptor version being built as well, but I had some issues with the paint. I'll get it done in a few more days. Meanwhile, feel free to check out my latest armor in the Armor Forums. Thanks all for looking in and Happy New Year.

The Duke's Workbench in 2011: Updated 12/2811
Mark Deliduka replied to Mark Deliduka's topic in Photos: On the Bench
Oh yeah, I've known that for decades. I still like them, but then I've always liked Airfix kits as well; despite their issues. Building an Airfix or MPC kit sure makes one feel like a model builder! I've always loved the boxart of all those Profile Series kits and have always wanted the full collection. Thanks for the compliment! -
The Duke's Workbench in 2011: Updated 12/2811

Okay, this will probably be the last update showing the progress on the models I'm working on this year. Many of these will most likely be finished in the next few days. Now that the armored train is finished, I'm going to try and get a few stalled projects finished. I've also started a few 'quick' models in order to 'cleanse the pallet' so to speak. I'll start with two aircraft models I started. These are two BAe Hawks I found in the stash while cleaning one day. I figured these would be some quick little builds that would be different enough. This first one is the Air defense variant. It is the Italeri 1/72 scale model kit. Here is the cockpit: Another shot showing the instrument panels. I hand painted those: My apologies for the poor pics. I guess my macro didn't focus too well there. Here it is all assembled and ready for paint: Then I painted it. The upper grey color was apparently no good as I couldn't get a smooth coat on it. So, I sanded it down as much as I could in preparation for a new attempt with another grey. I also had added most of the landing gear and other detail parts. It's sitting propped up because one of the landing gear was broken: Next is my other BAe Hawk, this one is the 1/72 scale Fujimi strike bird. Not much cockpit to show, so I forgot to take pics of it. Here it is with fuselage and wings assembled: NOTE: I started this one before the Italeri one. Because of poor instructions on the Fujimi kit, I made a construction error here. It becomes more noticeable when you see this next pic where I fixed it after I'd painted the camo pattern on it: Here it is later when I'd repainted the error and added all the landing gear, landing gear doors and underwing stores. She's ready for decals now: Okay, on to the third quick 'kit' to be started. I put that in small quotes because the kit includes two vehicles. I shall still count this as two models. This is one of the Dragon 1/72 scale armored jeeps that comes in this tandem kit: Again, my apologies for the pic quality. These little jeeps are about one inch long. I guess my camera was having difficulty focusing on something that small. Here is the second one built and sitting next to the first one: Next I added the wheels and photo-etch armor plates. These two are ready for decals: Finally, two of the stalled projects I started some time ago and never posted. First off is the ancient MPC Profile Series kit of the P-61 Black Widow. I've always wanted to build one of every one of the old MPC Profile Series models. This one however, is quite the dog. Here it is all assembled so far. I have it propped up because one of the landing gear broke here too. Also, the booms are all crooked compared to the rest of the plane. Looks like I'll have to break this one up in order to fix it: And finally, a model that is going together much better. This is the Italeri Night Hawk that is right now ready for paint: Well, that completes my final Works in Progress Post for 2011. Any more pics will be posted next year. Some of these will most likely be done, along with some others not shown on this latest post. You'll see them later in my 2011 Year in Review Thread. Meanwhile, thanks all for looking in, comments are always welcome. -
Sopwith Triplane and Ki-100 Goshiki

Beautiful work Gil! It's always a pleasure seeing your works in progress! Keep them coming! -
This model looks good Glen. Does your company have any plans to also do models in 1/72 scale? This M-ATV would sell out very quickly as nobody does this model in 1/72 scale, despite it being very much in demand. Something to think about; 1/72 scale is not dead; just hiding in the shadow of everyone's 1/35th scale kits.

Stevens International Introduces Meng Models
Mark Deliduka replied to dmorrissette's topic in Coming Attractions
Yeah, now it would be great of someone shrunk them to my scale too! Still, it's great to see another manufacturer start up. I may look into getting any future 1/72 scale aircraft provided they release something besides "Luft '46". -
Thank you Oleg!

Looking good Mark! I didn't realize this was a tough bird to build. And now I'm kicking myself. I have three transports I started some time back and I forgot all about this group Build. I'm building a C-130A, a C-160 Transall and an AN-12 Cub. All are ready for paint now. Should I still post them here for this?

Thanks Gil! -
LOL! Thanks Gil! I appreciate the compliment very much. I would have added those parts if I'd had them. I hate leaving parts off; makes me feel like I've not actually finished....

I posted mine in the armor section, but then again, it is an armored train. You could also post them in the Cars, Trucks and Motorcycles Forum since that deals with non-military transportation. Perhaps then we could get Eric A. to add "Trains" to the Cars, Trucks and Motorcycles Forum. I'd suggested this quite some time ago, but was shot down. Maybe he'll listen better to you.

Hey all! In the Armor Forum post I mentioned three completed models along with my armored train. Here is the third finished model. This is my Russian Mi-4 helicopter I finished up recently. This is missing a few parts inside, but for the most part, it looks complete. I debuted this last night at my IPMS meeting: Anyone know the NATO code name for this bird? Anyway, that is all I got done recently. Feel free to check out the Armored Forums to see my latest finished models there; including my most difficult model I ever built! Meanwhile, thanks all for looking in, comments are welcome.

Finally! After a year and a half of grueling, frustrating and tiresome work, I have finally managed to complete my Armageddon 1/72 scale Panzerzug BP-44 Armored Train! Here are some preliminary pics from it's debut at my local IPMS meeting. There aren't the greatest quality, so I'll be trying to get some better pics later. Here is the overall shot of it sitting on the table. This train measures six and a half feet long. I placed it down the center of the eight-foot table it's sitting on. On one side you can also see my other three completed models; closeups of those will come later. I left this pic kinda big so some details could be seen. Now for some closeup shots so you can see all the detail. Here is a shot of the engine and two tenders: Next are the Geschutzwagen and Kommandowagen: And finally, the Artilleriewagen and the last two cars, the transport wagon and the Panzerjagerwagen: And that's only half the train! On the other side, we have another set of the Geschutzwagen and Kommandowagen: ...preceded by the other three cars in front: There she is in all her glory! This was one of the most difficult, time consuming and frustrating models I've ever built, but the results are well worth it! I tried to use the kit parts wherever I could, but some were just plain unusable. I freehanded the camo pattern on th3e whole train; it took me four to five days to get it to my satisfaction. Most of the delicate thin parts are brass or copper wire, while the antennas are stretched sprue. One car I actually built using ONLY kit parts, including the grab handles and steps; just to see if I could do it. Due to the extremely poor molding quality, the quad AA guns were impossible to remove from the sprues so I substituted old ESCI/Italeri quad guns. The panzer 38(t)'s came with the kit. Despite the extremely poor molding again, I was still able to assemble these little tanks well enough to use on the model. Now I can send her out on the circuit and show people that, yes; one of these models CAN actually be built! Meanwhile, as promised; there were times I needed a break from this train, so I assembled a couple other little models to clear the palette, so to speak. This one is my ICM 1/72 scale Russian Ural-43207 Command Vehicle. This one will not be taken to any contests as there are at least five 'vital' parts missing. Whether they were originally in the kit, I don't know, but I couldn't find them when it came time add them to the model. Rather than having another "shelf queen" on the bench forever; I just completed it 'as is' so I can move on: This next one was a simple joy to build. It is ACE's 1/72 scale Ford US Army Staff Car. This is a 12-hour build I did; partly for fun, and partly because I've wanted one of these in my collection for so long. Here it is: That's all I have for my armor for now. As for my third model completed; feel free to check it out in the Aircraft Forums. Thanks everyone for looking in; comments are welcome! Merry Christmas!

Beautiful! I've always loved Israeli Phantoms! You did outstanding!

Thanks Dave. I've been looking for a good inventory software for my unbuilts. I'd also love one for my 1100+ finished models. I'll have to look into trying one of these out.
