  1. Well you answered that question about whether a kit is available or not, so that precludes my offer to build one. If someone else does have an unbuilt kit in their stash they are willing to donate, they can send it to me and I'll build it for the museum. Also Mark, if you'd like help in getitng some of those other models they want 'done yesterday' built for them. let me know. I'm fairly quick and efficient in my work. However, I'm no good at resin or vacuform planes; I'm better with injection molded kits. Something to think about.
  2. More progress this week. This is a short update since work took me away from my workbench so much this week. Starting with my aircraft, I refined my painting on the B-57G Night Hawk. Now it is ready for decals and final details: Next thing I dd was to complete the camo pattern on my C-130A Hercules. Now it is ready for clearcoat and decals and then I get to find the two missing propeller blades and make some repairs before I can call this thing done: And finally, for a Group Build on another Forum, I'm re-starting this model since I'm tired of it sitting around on my workbench! Here it was when I stopped working on it about two years ago: The white stuff in the openings is Testor's Window cement. I figured I needed to close off all those windows in the mooring tower. Recently, I did get the mooring tower painted. You can see all the windows have cleared up nicely: Next up, my armor. I did all the rest of this at my Monday Hobby Day. First thing I did was to assemble my Russian Ural 432 Command truck. I had gotten the cab finished for the most part, as well as gotten the suspension mounted to the chassis: Within an hour and a half, I had this thing fully assembled and ready for paint: I had also painted my Japanese Kurogane personnel carrier but didn't get any pics of it yet. Batteries died on my camera before I could get pics. They are coming soon. Finally, I did start a new armored train. This one is a Russian one containing an engine, a tender, and four turreted cars. I got the engine assembled and the top half of the tender. I also got one of the turreted cars assembled as well. I'll be slowing this one down a bit till I get some brass rod for the axles since the plastic ones in the kit break when you look at them. That's why I haven't gotten the lower part of the tender done. Here is what I have done on this train right now: There is a TON of photo etch included in this kit for this train! It's gonna be real interesting getting this thing built! Okay that's it for now. Yeah, it's a short update, but hopefully I'll be able to post a longer one later once I get some paint shot. Meanwhile, thanks all for looking in, comments are welcome.
  3. You need to do a video or picture tutorial on how to paint that stowage. If I could get mine to look half that good, I'd be ecstatic, and all my models would be loaded with stowage!
  4. Thanks for the great compliments guys! I'm hoping to get more done this weekend. Organized Gil? My wife would argue that point.... Persistent and motivated yeah, especially whenever I get comments on my work, that always fires me up!
  5. I like it! I look forward to seeing how it's gonna look.
  6. Well it's a new week, and I've actually got something to post worth showing. I've been working on my eight T-34's , as well as my large cargo planes so I can clear out a good set of boxes for more room. I'll start out with my cargo planes. I've gotten my C-130 basecoated with a dark green and got started with some preliminary camouflage painting. You can see I've also already broken two propeller blades, one of which is already disappeared: Next, I got my An-12 Cub completely painted and ready for a clearcoat. I should have decals on this bird pretty soon: That's all my progress so far on my aircraft. Hopefully I'll have some of these done soon. Now for my progress on my armor. As I mentioned above; I have managed to get my eight T-34's to the painting stage. I took these all to St. Crispin's Hobby Day on Monday and set to work on them. I got all the roadwheels drilled out and installed on all the lower hulls. Then I added the P/E screens to the engine decks of all these tanks. While they were drying, I went box by box and added all the fiddly little detail bits that I'd bypassed before to all the upper hulls. Then when I was done with that, I went through and completed all the turrets for every one of these tanks. After about 7 hours of work, I finally have these tanks ready for their basecoat of paint. Now for the parade of tanks: T-34/76 1940: T-34/76 1940: T-34/76 1940: T-34/76 1941: T-34/76 1941 with Cast Turret: T-34/76 1942: T-34/76 1942 with Cast Turret: T-34/76 1943: Finally, a shot of all of them together: Once I got do0ne with that, I decided to work on one last model; my Mercedes 3000 from MAC Distributors. I had gotten the chassis assembled earlier, and now that everything was all dry, I went ahead and painted the grey basecoat on it: Well, that's all I got done this past week. Hopefully in another week I'll have some more finished models to show, not to mention more progress. Meanwhile, thanks all for looking in, comments are always welcome.
  7. I want to make mine an in-service bird too. What decals do I need and where can I get them?
  8. Yes, I remember seeing that. Thanks. I've already spoken to my brother in Columbus and we have this on the schedule when I finally get there.
  9. Awesome! I have one of these too! This is looking great already!
  10. Man, too bad this ain't happening in April. I'm gonna be out there from the 6th to the 20th of April visiting my brother. I'd love to meet up with a few fellow modelers if there's time. I read there's a contest in April in Dayton. My brother and I are already planning to go to that one when I'm there. I'm even considering a few models to bring to enter from California. That would ROCK if I could take home some wood from Ohio!
  11. I feel vindicated! One of the Warriors is using the Testor's orange tube glue! YES! That's what I primarily build with myself. Great to see these guys doing so well. I enjoy seeing this thread updated. Thanks for posting.

    Beautiful! What scale is it?
  13. Okay cool. That is interesting that it was a good enough plane to keep around all that time. Glad that was clarified. Thanks.
  14. Yeah, it works great, but takes so long to get the effect I like. Still, the results are worth it.
  15. That looks stunning. Definitely a wargame table wlorth 'fighting' on! Brilliant work Dave! I love all the crates and boxes below; I'd love to get some of the smaller ones for my 1/72 scale armies.
  16. Looks like a great set of a little-represented aircraft. I'm surprised they wwere still making them in 1953, or is that a typo? I may have to get one, finances permitting....
  17. Ken, thanks! The injury healed pretty well; so I'm back to the bench. I hope to see more of your work as well.
  18. Thanks Dave. I go my highlights by dry brushing with the Testor's Model Master Light Ivory. I dip only the tips of the bristles in the paint and then keep brushing a cardboard or paper towel surface until it appears nothing more is coming off the brush. Then I dry-brush the tank. It takes awhile, but then I stop when I see a a slight appearance of ivory. Your highlights don't look that bad, I think you have a good technique there. Thanks again for the compliment.
  19. Thanks Dave! I find it easier at times, although someday if I can get a decent fine-tipped airbrush I'd like to try some of those other techniques with it.
  20. Thanks Gil! Yeah, that Hokum is pretty wild. The Russians were well known for pulling 'proven' parts off the shelf to design and build a new vehicle. This one here is the improved version of the Hokum that had upgraded sensors and electronics. Thanks again for the compliments!
  21. Yep! Hopefully this time I can keep it going. Thanks for the post!
  22. These are two models I finished about two and a half weeks ago. I only just found time to get them posted now. This first one is the Italeri 1/72 scale BAe Hawk interceptor I started with the Fujimi attack bird. This one gave me a bit more trouble so that's why it finished later than the other one. Here it is: This next one is a model I started at the beginning of the year last year. I believe I got this from Jason West, but I can't remember for certain. I put it aside for a number of months because it seemed the more I tried to assemble it, the more it fell apart! Finally, I just got tired of it fighting me and I went on a full 'offensive' to get this done. Here it is, finally all finished; my Italeri 1/72 scale Russian Ka-50W Hokum: This does come with weapons, someday I may put them on. This is all the aircraft I finished so far this year. I also finished an Israeli M-50 Super Sherman that is posted in the Armor Forums so feel free to check that out too. Meanwhile, thanks for looking in; comments are welcome.
  23. This also makes my 588th armor model finished. I actually finished this about two and a half weeks ago, but haven't found time till now to post it. This model is the Israeli M-50 Super Sherman. It is a kitbash using the Dragon M-4 Sherman 105mm with HVSS suspension as the base kit and Corporal Overby's Motor Pool M-50 conversion set. I finally managed to get this finished. I dusted it with a light coat of dust with my airbrush, but it's difficult to see in these pics. Enough talk, here it is: Now I have several more kits and nine more T-34's to finish so stay tuned. I also completed an aircraft and a helicopter; feel free to go check them out in the Aircraft Forums. Meanwhile, comments are welcome; thanks for stopping in.
