  1. All light is not created equal... and our eyes are pretty good at adjusting to the differences. So what looks white to us may not to your camera. I think most (digital) cameras do a pretty good job of auto white balancing assuming a couple things... First, the lighting needs to be consistent - mixed incandescent and sunlight is not good, for example. Second, I usually take a picture of a neutral grey or white object that fills the frame. This may trigger the auto-balance. If not, I do it manually. If the balance does not work, I then have the image of the test shot which I can balance in my image editing program (Apple's Aperture) than I apply that adjustment to the entire set. Now if we're talking film cameras here, that's a different issue. Eric
  2. You are a brave man.. Protar kits are generally no fun. Eric
  3. Now that the new space is built - we even have a 'secret' testing version of the site - I am going to see if I can import the old reviews into the new site. I am not sure this is possible, but the way John R redid the HTML template for the reviews was pretty smart and may allow for an automated import. I think we'd probably have to re-insert the images by hand, but just getting the text in would be really useful. Eric
  4. The width is something I need to look at... but from looking at our Google Analytics stats, I would say that 80% of the Forum visitors have screen resolutions over 800x600. I may see about having an alternative theme... E Eric
  5. I'm hoping I can flesh out the indexing a little, but given that the site wide search works pretty well, I think most folks will take advantage of that. Eric
  6. Hi Folks, The new IPMS/USA Reviews web site is now up and running. Currently there are about 12 new reviews on the site and more will be added soon. We wanted everyone to take a look at it - I have a few more features that I will be adding in based on a few suggestions but they can wait for the moment. I'd like to thank Patti Walden for taking over the role of assistant webmaster and editor of the site. She's done an excellent job getting the new reviews in this past week or so. I will be updating her info on the EBoard / Web Team page tonight. I'd also like to thank Jim Pearsall, Perry Downen, Rob Folden, Jack Wade, and David Goudie for volunteering to be the guinea pigs on testing the site and who will also be adding new reviews. If anyone has any suggestions, spots any bugs, or has comments, please post them here. The site is located at: http://web.ipmsusa3.org Thanks, Eric Aitala
  7. Are you going through the 'New Gallery' link or the older set of 'Original Galleries' links? The Original Galleries will 'go away' once we move everything to the new space.. which is gonna take a while. E [EDIT: I just did a quick edit of the web page to add direct links to the sub galleries...]
  8. Armor is here - http://ipmsusa3.org/gallery/v/walkarounds/armor/ Misc is here - http://ipmsusa3.org/gallery/v/walkarounds/misc/ I wonder if we need to sort the galleries in reverse chronological order? Whoops forgot about the 'View Latest Update ' link - http://www.ipmsusa3.org/gallery/updates?g2_albumId=7 - its on the main gallery page above the Random Image. Eric
  9. I've thought about setting up my F1 folks as a SIG, but I haven't really had much time to think about it.. E
  10. There is Central Pennsylvania Model Car Club - http://www.freewebs.com/cpmcc/ - but its not an IPMS club. Eric
  11. In the left side menu in the Gallery there is a 'View Latest Updates' link for each album which will show a grid of recently updated albums in that area... Like this page for the Walkarounds... http://www.ipmsusa3.org/gallery/updates?g2_albumId=27 Eric
  12. I wonder if they've been swamped - I have seen the site mentioned on a number of fairly prominent blogs in the past week... Eric
  13. It has nothing to do with your account - the permissions on that forum area allowed folks to upload images, but not everyone was allowed to view them. Should be fixed now. Eric
  14. Some interesting pictures at... http://www.scifiairshow.com Eric
  15. I set up a special area on F1M.com just for Lotus 79 related posts... http://www.f1m.com/main/forum/viewforum.php?f=50 There are some comparisons there... Eric
  16. The folks at HLJ have a new web site out - http://www.hobbylink.tv/ Its pretty interesting and has lots of nice images from Shizuoka... Eric
  17. Well.... I don't think we're going to open that Gallery up for general users - we (aka Dennis) have enough trouble keeping track of users on the Forum. We will have a system for folks who need to upload things like Event Galleries, but that will entail using a general guest account. Once I update the Forum software, I will look into buying the Gallery addon for it.. will make life easier for everyone. Eric
  18. Hi Folks, We have a new Gallery online at http://www.ipmsusa3.org/gallery . The Web Team have been moving the galleries from the other servers into the new space, plus we have some new Albums set up as well. The older galleries are still online and linked from the 'Galleries' button on the main site since we're still working on the move. The new site is not setup for members to submit images - I am looking into the Forum add-on to do that, but we'll have to upgrade IP Board to version 3 first... If you have any questions, let me know. Eric Aitala
  19. Guess what - I found a possible patch on the IP Board support area.. I have installed it.. you may need to clear your browser cache for it to work. Let me know if it does. Eric

  21. IIRC, I think the latest FF update actually has the issues with replies and the previous version didn't.. I think something changed in their Javascript interpreter which may have broken the quick replies... Things may stay broke until I can do the 2 -> 3 update of IP Board... E

  23. I will see if any of my European members know anything... Eric
  24. What I find odd is that the Forum software has not changed when we moved to the new server... can't figure out why folks are having the cursor issue. Really makes no sense... Eric
