  1. Yowie! That's nice work! I really like the mud spatter on the lower edges of the jacket. For those who may attend the upcoming event in Houston (Saturday, April 24) Henry Nunez, Ace Figure Painter, will be putting on a demo at 11am.
  2. It's a bit long but check out http://ipmsusa3.org/gallery/v/box_art_albu...ugh+S/Spitfire/
  3. Mike's advice is golden. You can also add another step. After you've left scratch marks all over the canopy, wet sand it down with 2000 grit, then 6000, then 8000, and finally buff it out with 12000 grit. Then dip it in Future. I have managed to overcome my fear of sanding imperfections out of the canopy and can produce a crystal clear and clean canopy with this process. Like to see some pics before and after. Good luck
  4. Thanks. Got it.
  5. Can anyone ID this aircraft? Thanks.
  6. Figures... I just started building a vintage Viper (no box, no decals) and now am looking forward to the "II". BSB was/is one of my favs and the models are cool!
  7. What a terrific effect with the mud! Great job! Now...quick! Start another kit right away!
  8. Its been a strange winter....friends in Dallas, Tx reported (and photographed!) about 6 inches of snow that fell just a few weeks ago! I think I'll take the pollen over the snow....
  9. I'd rather have the cooler weather than this! We call this "Texas Rain". This is the pollen dust that accumulated in about 8 to 12 hours. We have a week or so if this...so I figured to take advantage of Nature's billboard and work in a little advertising for the Society.
  10. That's a great looking car!!
  11. How about a "How To" with pics, if possible, regarding the manufacture of the prop blades....would be something interesting to see.
  12. "Well done" to Dennis and Eric. These advances now evident in the forum have been a long time in planning and it appears, thus far, that all of the niggling little technical issues were resolved prior to roll out. Spreading the word to other IPMS branches is being taken care of but nothing prevents any member from visiting other sites and inviting folks over for a look-see. I look forward to additional modeling information and resources being posted, not that anything will really improve my modeling, but hope springs eternal.
  13. I purchased a Grex at the VB convention and use it for detail work. The bigger areas I still airbrush with a Paasche. The Grex has a pistol grip handle and that makes it very comfortable and that results in improved control. Its a dbl action and has an adjusting screw that acts as a limiter on the air flow. It doesn't get any easier than that!
  14. Before and after shot of the starboard gun bay. Upper gun needs a little adjustment...
  15. If I could build tanks as well as you build aircraft then I'd be very happy! Goes to show that some basic techniques transfer from subject to subject, whether its space, auto, armor, etc.....and good work always is fun to observe! Thanks for the pics.
  16. Which particular airframe....hmmm...don't know. Depends. This is actually just a vehicle to use for a review of the Eduard PE set...I may not even finish the model.... and in fact, I think its missing some important parts. The only markings I've got are for a Japanese aircraft...anyway....we'll keep plugging along. Here's the kit-supplied engine, still incomplete...lots of plumbing to add.
  17. Eduard makes great stuff. Its easy to remove from the part carrier and easy to shape. I consider myself a rookie when it comes to pe parts so imagine what the experienced modeler can do.
  18. Today was a good day. I finished up the air brake replacements for the kit parts. Bet you can tell which is which...
  19. I've got a Grex, purchased during the Vir.Beach convention, that has a knob that can set the max paint flow. That is one reason I bought it. It is an excellent tool, comfortable to use, and cleans easily.
  20. Dang, you guys are good. F-86F-40 by Hase....the old kit... And for its time it was top of the line. I've got the Eduard pe set for the exterior that I'm working on and was shooting some wip pics. Thought I'd share. Kit needs some help but the Eduard stuff is fantastic.

Can you identify the model? and
  22. I favored Gunze but their acrylic is MIA. I used Pollyscale(found them a bit twitchy) but I really liked the quality of the finish after airbrushing. I'm starting to focus on Tamiya acrylic now.... While I've used Model Master for some reason I never really took to it as I have toward Tamiya. I'd be interested in hearing what you experience with MM over the next few months...
  23. The talent level we see within the membership never ceases to amaze me. I enjoyed the images of Ed's Apollo spacecraft, and its always entertaining to view the finished product. I also appreciate these kinds of threads, for lack of a better term....a "How I did it" thread, to see how the modeler achieved such a great end product. Thanks Mike!
  24. I use an Iwata Eclispe for the delicate work and a 30 year old Passche H-5 for everything else. Both work very well, and I just love the Iwata....that baby can put down a line as fine as a sharpened pencil.
  25. Ed, you are a man of many talents. That kit is one of my favorites and I know it to be an "interesting" build. Great job on the model! I hope the gift shop allowed you some space for a little advert for your club and for IPMS.....
