Dick Montgomery Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 Noel, That is a spectacular Hun! Perhaps you should write an article for the Journal on how you achieved such a great finish, especially on the exhaust area.
Dreamsof51 Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 I agree with the others really nice build. Always one of my favorite century series fighters. thanks fo sharing it. Chris
ghodges Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 That is one Super Saber (pun intended! )! Great NMF and excellent job on the burnt area in the back. Is that the Trumpy kit OOTB, or did you add some things yourself? Congrats on a beautiful build! GIL
ncarpio Posted November 17, 2011 Author Report Posted November 17, 2011 Hi guys! Yes, I built this OOTB except for the Decals. I wanted mine different looking from the original box decals. I simply got some tips from the Super Saber Society on the nose-job. Placed some additional wires here and there. I painted the baby with Gunze Silver #8, Super Silver #159 and a mixture of both for the third plate color. The exhaust is a combination of Silver and Tan and Black to arrive with that bit of Burnt Titanium shade. I really had fun on this one. Especially on the paint job. About 70 hours was spent on this project. half of it is on painting and finishing.
burner12 Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) carpio that is just spectacular! I love the exhaust areas and up front. Edited November 17, 2011 by burner12
dmorrissette Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 Great build. What did you do the natural metal finish with? Dave
ncarpio Posted November 19, 2011 Author Report Posted November 19, 2011 I used Gunze paints, Dave, as I posted a few posts before yours. After a wash over to bring our the lines and rivets, I sprayed the whole bird with Clear Gloss.
dmorrissette Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Noel: Duh. Got hooked on the pictures..... Dave
kolja Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 I'm another one who just loves to see how folks capture the discoloration on the 'hot' part of bare metal finishes. Very nicely done!
ncarpio Posted November 22, 2011 Author Report Posted November 22, 2011 Thanks again! I'm another one who just loves to see how folks capture the discoloration on the 'hot' part of bare metal finishes. Very nicely done!
