  1. On a highway yes. This would be a city plow and living in North Dakota I can tell you first hand they don't drive fast enough in the city to throw snow like that. If they did, our houses would be buried.

You lost me with the nose panel and gun cover panel... LMAO See, I'm REALLY green to this! I plan to hit the public library for some serious reference material. Thus far, I've only been able to find pictures of the restored/pristine version of this plane, and I'd like to add some life and weathering to it. Plus, I'm going to make it in a flying position with the gear up, so I need to find those photoetch "propz" I think they're called? They look like the prop is spinning?? I'll definitely be posting in progress pics along the way.

I'm 99% an automotive builder, and the other 1% Sci-Fi modeler. I decided I need to get off my but and try an airplane for the first time in .... 25 years. The last ones I built were when I was 9 years old and glue bombs. I figured this would be a good stable kit to get in to it with since it's been around for many a year. I may be popping in here asking for help. LOLOL
  4. As for a kit or kits, I'd like to see a 1/24 Cadillac XLR in a new tool. Old-school Nascar kits reissued when they still looked like factory cars, the Monogram Chevy blazer's reissued, and whatever odds/ends that catch my interest.
  5. Thanks guys! Gil - the snow was made using green floral foam to sculpt the main portion, then I used railroad ballast and chopped chunks out of the foam with my tweezer for the chunky effect.
  6. Here it is all done. The rest of the pics are up in the diorama section.
  7. LMAO LMAO LMAO Living in North Dakota and this winter's plows have driven me mad... You get the idea. We'll just refer to it as the driveway incident with "hungover Howie Long" driving this beast. I scratchbuilt the shovel and our angry driveway owner started off as a construction worker with his arms in the air and standing vertical. I cut him up and puttied & reglued things to make the stance he's in now.
  8. No real huge changes, but now I just need the figure to complete it. I've got my eyes on a couple on evil=bay.
  9. Here's my progress as of tonight. Being green to dioramas still, I neglected to paint the floral foam white before sprinkling the snow about... rolleyes Oh well, chalk it up to beginner's learning and keep moving onward!
  10. Well, I got started on the diorama tonight. It's going to have a load of sand and where you see floral foam will be snow surrounding a sidewalk and an unsuspecting driveway.
  11. Thanks a bunch Jay for the kind compliment. On the flip-side, photography can really polish a turd... I truly go to contests to admire other's builds, so competition is the least of it really.
  12. There are a couple few touch ups and other last little things, but I'm calling it done for now. Next is to get the diorama base and things going and do some final weathering on the plow once it's in it's permanent home. The back of the plow blade is my "proud moment" for this build as I used Testors International orange for the base, then Floquil/Polly Scale reefer orange fogged over it to give it the sun-bleached, discolored look and it turned out perfect IMHO.
  13. Cool build! I like the old flopper cars.
  14. Finally some movement on this. I managed to form the driver figure the way I wanted with a little help from a lighter. After getting the arms located to where I wanted them, I painted the figure and installed him. Still some weathering on the cab to do, but now I can focus on the blade and sand spreader. I replaced the kit shifter with a stick pin.
  15. Nice work Texas. Looks like it's ready for a 1/4 mile.
  16. nice clean stock build! On a side note - the national model day sounds like the 24 hour build the guys over in the West Virginia modelers group do. This past Saturday they annually start up at noon on Saturday and end at noon Sunday. 24 hours to start and finish a model!
  17. Thanks for the compliments guys. Here's this weekend's progress. Interior is done sans driver and in researching these plows, I've found that often times the cab is much newer looking than the box. A slight amount of weathering on the cab & fenders and bumper.
  18. Very cool. I'm not a fan of red, but the stripes set it off.
  19. Looks like a great project. As for paint and nice gloss, everyone's got their opinions, but I've really come to enjoy the Tamiya Primers which lay very smooth, and Tamiya spray paints, or Testors/Tamiya acrylic with Tamiya X-22 clear polished out. House of Kolor stuff is nice too if you're able to still get your hands on any. I guess for color, I've always been a fan of the 80's trucks and the stripes. Cream/beige with tri-tone brown stripes. Metallic green is always nice too for a solid color. Just my .02 cents.
  20. Here's the post salt=removal pictures. I'll get the interior & cab going next. Thanks for following along
  21. The interior etc. will take more time of course. I need to get a driver figure for it also. The box is actually International Orange which the cab will be also.
  22. A little baking soda applied to the tires to replicate snow, and the salting technique in a minimal form, should hopefully result in a nice lightly weathered truck box.
  23. That's the fun in it though! My friend Mark & I shop the nail polish section at Walmart for car colors not available elsewhere. You should see the looks we get!!! LMFAO
