Super work. I, too, relish in assembling tires and rims. For me, a good set of rims/tires sets a car off from the others.

I managed to get a bit more time to spend on this project. I broke out the oil paints to help with some blending and pin washes to bring out detail.

The site is great! Very well done.

This is the result of my efforts after an hour tonight. Just working on the face and mixing three various shades of the base color to pick out hi & low lights, this is where I'm at. I still have to blend in the colors to make the shading less drastic, but I'm learning as I go, so to speak, and remembering all of my art class instruction along the way too.

With my workbench uprooted due to my basement construction, I'm trying some figure painting to pass the next two months. I've been inspired by Games Workshop's Golden Demon competitions and it gave me the itch big time to try this.

I got it all done. I may still go back and add some more minute details. Now I debate if I want to create a diorama base for it too or not. The figure is about 3" long and 1 1/2" tall. The main goal for this one was to try get a natural heated metal look (the pictures don't show the slight blue tint) I used Tamiya bright green and washes to try simulate a back-lit chest cavity also.

I freakin' love these old race cars! I'll be watching for the completed project!

I just found out of his passing today from my same friend I built this for. RIP Dom!

Pyrman's avatar is Captain Chaos, which brought back fond memories of The Cannonball Run movie. I built this one for a friend of mine as a gift. He and I used to get together and watch crazy movies like Cannonball Run. The kit is the MPC Dodge van kit with the Cannonball Run box art, and the figures are courtesy of Scale Equipment Ltd. He still gets questions and comments on it 3 years later sitting on his desk at work. I made the back drop of the movie poster on my computer for the van, J.J. and "Him" I regret being "green" to the hobby still and not being able to find a figure to make the doctor as well.

Yes it does. I didn't paint mine that way though. From what I've heard/read, the red wheel wells were a factory thing that came with certain makes/red-line tires.

I fired up the airbrush tonight and began with some heat-staining and aging of the metal, along with some soot around I guess what would be exhaust vents of some sort. The joy of these things is the wide-open pallet of creativity you're given.

The big spring tool show is now done at work, so I actually had excitement and ambition to work on the Necron Destroyer. A chicken kabob grilled supper didn't hurt either. On to the build. I've gotten all of the base colors etc. that I wanted done. I still have a touch up on the head piece and have to decide what position I'm going to have the gun arm in. I'm pleased overall, and thanks to Tamiya bright green, I was able to manage some semblance of a lighted chest cavity. The weathering, heat staining, and washes are yet to come. I'm pleased with it thus far and wanted to give it some life with an out-reaching head-turned pose. I've got an idea for a diorama base, but that'll come once I get this completed. Thanks for following along! The gun with replaced lines for a better look and detail. This was with the flash on and shows the actual colors more accurately.

My current work in progress is this Warhammer 40k Necron Destroyer. Being an automotive builder 99% of the time, things tend to crossover. This one needed a chrome skeleton/body parts beneath the armor etc. like the exhaust on the cars I build. Oh yeah, and the Terminator. LOL

Bun E. was asking for a Challenger, but this is the only Mopar I've built. This is another build that ended a slump. I built it just like the car pictured on the Revell kit. Overall, the kit is one of the best offering's I've seen from Revell in fit and detail. My first attempt at adding more detail to an engine bay, hand-painted wood grain on the interior, and scratch-built belt buckles from styrene sheet for the first time. The paint's a little rough too.

Thank you for the kind words guys. Ed, the shift pattern does not exist on the shifter knob. May be photo lighting. You are correct, this is the Revell kit and a GREAT kit. I highly recommend it. Bun - I don't have a Challenger, but I do have a Daytona.

This one really helped end a big slump. I got the inspiration from my Muscle Machines magazine cover when it hit the mailbox. INSTANT inspiration. The paint is Tamiya titanium gold, with the Testors vinyl top system for the roof. I added the drip rails along the bottom portion of the back B pillars as they weren't molded in. I also plumbed and wired the engine for some detail and used Pro Tech wire looms. The interior wood grain was hand-painted by me and I used Detail Master parts for the seat belt buckles. Unfortunately my bare metal foil's shelf life was about up and caused me problems at the end of it. Thanks for looking. :)

Hi Jay, thanks for the compliments. The wheel wires are painted gold and the tire emblems are decals with a mist coat of flat clear over them.

This is my most recently completed build before the big basement clean-out before construction starts. Revell Germany Porsche 956c. On a whole, I'm not impressed with the kit, especially seeing that I paid import price for a glorified snap-kit of sorts. No engine at all, no suspension at all, a dash with separate steering wheel, and a seat/driver area mold. Next time I'll buy the Tamiya. LOL Nothing special, but a decent shelf model. One decal rolled over on me and I could not for the life of me fix it. There was not any chrome parts in the kit, so all the chrome was done using Alclad II.

I hope to have something nice to display my builds once our basement is finished. Thanks for sharing the pics!

I love the modern camo scheme Pyrman. Very nicely done. Here's a couple shots of the driver in-progress shots along with the lines to the tanks. I also made welds around the panels and roll cage to show through where the paint is faded/rusted.
