I'm loving this. Looking good so far. Speaking of "what if"; I myself picked up the Revell kit to do a "what if", only mine would look like I imagine it would if the Soviets had kept it after the war; developed it for their use and even added an angled deck to it (a la Kiev class). I'd then add Forgers and Helix's to it; and maybe even some Su-25's, Su-27's and -29s as 'test' aircraft in prep for the 'new' Tblisi/Kuznetsov class carriers. Now if I can only find that Revell kit in my stash...... Keep going Chris, I'll be watching this one with interest!

Okay, I'm a little late in getting things posted, but as promised, here's my latest update. I'll start with my aircraft, since I only had one thing I was working on and it got screwed up again. Story of my life! I was painting the details (nose, black in front of cockpit, green on fins, etc.) Of course it was my fault since I got green paint on my thumb and promptly emblazoned my aircraft with a big green thumbprint right on the top like an idiot! So, when I removed it and then shot some more silver over it, this is the result: That has been put away until I find myself willing to pull it out and do the painting all over again from scratch. Now on to my armor. This is all the work I got done at St. Crispin's Hobby Day on Friday. Things had been going great to a point while I was working on my armor. I even thought I was making progress when I shot my Gloss Black on my GAZ 11 and my GAZ pickup truck: But then I took a closer look. I had forgotten to put the photo-etch grills alongside the engine compartments! Boy did I feel like an idiot! So now I need to scrape the paint, apply the P/E and then re-shoot these two. Moving along, I decided to get some more of my Morser 17 gun built. I finished up the gun carriage and added the barrel. That was tough to do: Then I completed the main chassis for this gun, except for all those tiny detail pieces that would end up breaking off every time I handled this thing: Here's a shot of the two assemblies dry-fit together: After getting that far, I went on to my Japanese three-ton truck. I couldn't do much more to the truck itself yet since I have to paint it before I can move on. So I figured now was a good time to start the two trailers that went behind it. First I got the water trailer done: Next I went to work on the cooking trailer and got it done: Now it is time to paint these two along with the truck after sanding the water tank smooth. So, I set them all aside and moved on to the BR-86 locomotive. I finally found out why certain linkages weren't connecting right: I had two of them upside down! After fixing them, everything went together far better and now I could move on: So next I started putting together the 'barrel' (for want of a better word) of the locomotive. I got it together and added filler to those areas that needed it: Then it wanted me to add a bunch of detail parts to the "bumps" that go on top of this part, but all those parts would have broken off when it was time to add them to the barrel. So I skipped that step. I'll add the "bumps" after I get this sanded to my satisfaction first; then I'll install the detail parts. So, that being said, I moved on to the cabin and installed the windows. I did this a little differently this time. On my WC-360, the windows look like crap because the edge where the 'glass' was glued was still unpainted, and I had to paint the edges very thick to hide the unpainted plastic. On this model, I could see the same thing happening, so I painted the inside edges where the 'glass' was supposed to go and while the paint was still wet, I installed the clear parts. Thus the paint holds the clear parts and the bare plastic is painted. Here is the cab next to the barrel: My apologies for the 'highly technical' parts description for this locomotive. Moving along once again, I decided to change things up a bit. I pulled out my 1/32 scale model of my Airfix Dennis Fire Truck. First thing I did was to clean up the ladders of all the seam lines. Here's a 'before' shot: See the difference? The 'clean' one is on front: Next I assembled the ladder lifting gear for the back of the truck. I got it all assembled and then dry-fit it to the back of the truck. Here it is next to all three 'clean' ladders: Next up is some painting on that as well as adding the rope so that the ladders are able to extend and contract. I do hope it works! After St. Crispin's I did a little work this past week. Most of it was on a company of Syrian T-54's for a friend's wargame army. These are in 15mm scale and made of white metal. He asked me to paint them up for a historical gaming convention this weekend. Here is the company all painted up and ready to go: All those were airbrushed, even the camo pattern. Pretty good I thought, considering I had no fine tip for my airbrush. Just so you can see the scale difference, here is one of the T-54's next to my 1/72 scale T-55: Finally, while painting his tanks, I also shot some paint on the ZIS 5 truck I've been working on as well: Well, that is my latest update for this week. Well, the best plaid plans of Mice and Men often go astray.... I got called in to do a job for someone yesterday so that took most all my day. Then I had to finish up some wargame tanks for a friend of mine. They are done so I should have pics very soon today. Stay tuned.

Yeah, I agree Ed, but it does feel good knowing my updates are missed. So far, Chris is the only one on four Forums who has sent me on a guilt trip all expenses paid! :gold-plane: I'm finishing up a couple more things; I should be able to post tonight!

Well, I do have some pics to post, I just need to get them edited first. I got so much going on that I don't have the time. Hopefully tomorrow.

A couple of days ago at the Brewer Brothers show I picked up an Airfix Lockheed Hudson I in 1/72 scale. I got it for $5.00 it was the only thing I got.

Very nice! I like that she's dressed in armor; a Lady charged with safeguarding the sword should be ready to use one. You did extremely well with this model. Keep up the great work!

Beautiful job! I also likem how clean this is, very well maintained by the crew. However, I always thought that THIS was the Lee; I'm under the (possibly incorrect) impression that the Grant was the one with the larger turret. I always get those two mixed up.

It's actually a new release of two old kits in one. I do plan on building both. Thanks for clearing that up. I was only a couple decades off. I have a single kit of the Dennis fire truck already started; I'd gotten it for about $5.00 at a kit swap meet. I'd never seen the bus as a single kit before; it was worth it getting the dual kit for that. You may still be able to get one John, good luck in finding one. Bob, I'm looking forward to seeing you start that one. I want to see that in progress!

I don't know Gil, these sure look like Masterpieces to me. I'm not quite as skilled as you are, I certainly can't make any of these look as good as you have! After all, mine are built..... yours are built VERY WELL!

Speaking for myself, it would help me. Right now I'm going through the Week from Hell. It might take me till then to recover enough to spend some time finding something to build for this.

I've been following this alot and I'm quite stunned at the incredible detail you've done on this ship. I really like what I see. One thing I noticed that you may want to check out: The braces under the main mast top cabin (for want of a better description) look to be sticking out and/or unconnected in the angle on the first pic. Maybe a slight sanding to make them more flush with the side of that cabin will make that connection look more natural. Oh, and I second someone else's suggestion on taking more level pics of your models. My neck is starting to hurt with all the intense study I do to your pics. Keep up the awesome work, this ship is truly a masterpiece! I'm learning so much watching you build all these.

Welcome to these Forums. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have built and what you are building. I also have a Heller 1/72 scale Constellation that i plan to start soon. I only hope mine comes out half as good as yours does.

I was going to try this, but so far I haven't found anything in the stash to build for this. I'll have to keep looking, I doubt I'll be able to start on the start date anyway with all the stuff going on in my life currently.

Nicely done! I did something similar when I hung up my KC-135. I put it slightly above and in front of my B-52D so that when the angle is right, it looks like they are refueling in midair as well. Then the air conditioner turns on and they start swaying back and forth ruining the illusion... Great idea John, I love it!
