I sure counted it as an armor model when I built mine! You definitely qualify! Brilliant job too! You's a contendah!

Awesome! You've really done well with all these excellent Airfix kits! Gotta love Airfix!
-
Love it! Awesome job! I was at an airshow once where these two engaged in a mock dogfight for us. The MiG had the upper hand through most of the fight. Most interesting and entertaining display!

Airfix 1/72 British F-86 Sabre - first model after 10 year break

Sweet! I gotta get me one of these! You really did extremely well. Welcome back to the world of modeling! -
Awesome! You gotta love Airfix!

Love it! Awesome paint job; I really need to pick up some silly putty.

Many Hobby Shops sell a CA Debonder which should work also. It is a bit more expensive than the Bondini Super Glue Remover Gel, but it's a good thing to have in the tool box. I had a friend who tried to strip paint off a car model with brake fluid and it softened the plastic causing the body to warp. Scratch one car kit! My recommendation is to stay away from brake fluid period.

Thanks Chuck! Man, I've had that kit for so long I'd forgotten where and when I got it! I'm glad it's finally built. Now to find that Leopold.... Thanks again, I really appreciate your compliments.

Looking sharp! I like what I see. I don't do 1/48 scale aircraft, but I also like the Se-5 and will be watching this with interest.

Welcome to these Forums and back into modeling Joe! There's lots of guys who can help; we have quite the assembly of Masters here who are willing to give you all the advice and assistance you need.

Man, that pea-dot camo pattern must have been a tough one to do! Brilliant work Chris, he looks so realistic! Another masterpiece from your bench!

Thanks for these. I'm going to try and reduce these to my scale, even though the writing will be unreadable. Still, it will be nice having these for my 'supplies'.

Brilliant job Mark! Most impressive! Makes me wish the Israelis had actually gotten these.

Thanks Rob!

Thanks Gil! I gotta admit, I'm glad they do. This was a fun kit to build! Thanks Rob! I shall do that. I did dip my canopies in Future before application, but I always seem to get scratches and blemishes anyway. Canopies are my toughest challenge to get and keep clear.

That's a beautiful and very clean build! Way to go! -
Thanks Bill! Now I have to figure out where to keep this until the next contest. It's so big, I'll have to hang this from the ceiling.

Thanks Bob! You reply is very appreciated! I was hoping they would look right; I'm glad I got it.

I agree Bob. However, ACE has been putting out a lot of cars in 1/72 scale that can be made as civilian vehicles. There's the GAZ staff car (seen next to my Mi-26 Halo in my thread in Aircraft), an Opel Olympia that can be done as a civilian car; British tourer, the Ford Staff car, even a French Citroen or Trabant; I can't remember which. Roden makes an Opel Zeppstaffen(?) bus that looks wild. Hasegawa put out a pilots set in 1/72 scale that contained a 1970's era panel van, but that's the only 'modern' vehicle I've ever seen released by any model company. Of course these are all WWII-era vehicles too; I'd love to see everything you mentioned as well, we really need them!

Thanks Pete!

Check it out: my pilots are pre-flighted and ready to take off: So come on everyone; check in with Pasha Alekseyev and climb aboard for a ride to the Factory where you can check out my latest helicopter: Watch your step as you disembark... Now that we've arrived, Pasha will happily show you around my Zvezda 1/72 scale Russian Mi-26 Halo. He'll let you know that this is the largest helicopter in service today. She's built OOB and painted with Testor's Model Master paints. A wash was done on select locations with Windsor & Newton Oils Burnt Umber thinned with Mona Lisa thinner: Pasha is still standing by in case anyone has any other questions about this Big Bird: There it is; another of the large projects that slowed me down last year is finally done. I hope you enjoyed the ride. I sure did enjoy the trip I took to complete this thing! Thanks all for looking in, comments are welcome.

Welcome Bob! I commend you on your assistance in restoring that classic plane. I would love to be able to help do that someday. It sounds like you are a most valuable addition to these boards. Glad to have you here. I would love to see pics of your models!

Thanks guys! You compliments really mean a lot to me.

Thanks Bill! Yeah, I guess I should have kept it below Mach I until the decals dried! :gray-plane: I'm not sure if I'll touch them up yet; matching the colors may be a bit tough. I won't hide it, but it will be pretty tough to see among all my other aircraft. The natural metal was Tamiya Bare Metal Silver from a rattle can. One shot, one kill. Thanks again for the great reply. Mark, that's awesome to hear these kinds of stories. One of my IPMS club members was a Corsair driver in WWII; I think he had about 6 or 8 kills to his credit. Unfortunately, I never got a chance this past meeting to ask him his opinion. I'll probably bring it back next meeting to see what he thinks about it. Thanks Gil! I wouldn't really call that Thunderjet a winner given the decal issues, but from a few feet away she does look good on the shelf. I'll probably take her to a couple contests for kicks. Thanks again guys for all the great comments! Stay tuned for more!

Maddog Manufacturing 2013 Production Line Updated 7/17
Mark Deliduka replied to Mark Deliduka's topic in Photos: On the Bench
Just a real quick update since I managed to get a few hours on the bench today. I spent it getting all the fiddly bits on the Mi-26 Halo, painted the details on the rotors, and added the landing gear and rear clamshell doors. Here it is: Here's a shot of this 1/72 scale helicopter next to a 1/72 scale Russian staff car to show the relative size of this monster helicopter: Now all I have to do is do some paint touch up; re-coat it with dullcoat and remove the clear parts masking and this beastie will be done! Stay tuned!
