Hi everyone, I'm happy to announce that a new SIG (Special Interest Group) is now active, and recruiting members!! We're called the Blue and Gray Scale Modelers and are focused on all aspects of the American Civil War. Our web home address is below. Our focus will be on modeling this facsinating area of American history, and at the same time encourage discussion on battles, personalities of the era, battlefields we've visited, or any other war related subject. We don't favor one side or the other, and aim to keep politics, either then or todays out of the mix. In addition to a spiffy group site, we're also affiliated with Tholians Web, a discussion board, which is also hosting three other SIGS. (Sci Fi, Two Wheeled, and Heavy Haulers SIGs) Some of the features of our group is picture posting where you can share pictures of your latest work, take a poll relating to some area of the War, a cool map where you can pinpoint the battlefields you've visited, and a review section where you can tell us the good and bad points of any battlefield visits you may have had. One thing I won't use again is plumbers putty to secure those weights. I tried using this stuff to set some wieght in a S-3 kit a number of years ago, and was amazed how the nosed started to drip an oily residue from the putty. I now only use white glue or epoxy to secure the weight, and won't be trying anthing exotic again in the near fuure!!

I made the mistake of talking on the phone and building a model at the sae time. I'm not sure how, but somehow during my conversation I managed to super-glue my hand to the phone. It took about two hours to carefully excise my hand from said phone, without damaging either the phone or hand. Talk about feeling stoopid!! Doug

Good luck with your Le Mans build Ralph!! I hope to get a chance to see some of it, but have to install a new fence, or the wife will kill me!! I've been putting it off long enough, and if I told her I had to watch the race, and build a model at the same time, it might send her over the edge!! (Wouldn't be the first time!!) Speaking of the Revell CR-6, have you seen the Scale Motorsports upgrade kit? I picked one up last week, and it's very cool. You get the Revell kit, plus carbon fiber decals, turned aluminum wheels and other parts, and a nice P/E set for it. I got it for $90.00, and is worth it, if only for the wheels!! I guess the Corvette guys are tired of competing against themselves in GT1. It should be interesting to see them take on the GT2 guys!! Ham

Ok guys, here's a question I haven't seen kicked around before, so I'll ask it. What sheen values do modern US missles, bombs and the like have? By sheen values I mean flat, low luster, eggshell, semi-gloss, or gloss finishes. I've never seen this information published any place, and wonder what values everyone uses when they add the bombs and rockets. Maybe I've just missed it, but any light that could be shed on this subject would be apprecaited. Thanks!! Doug

The funny thing about all those old Japanese monster movies was the way thebuildings and infrastructure were protrayed. When I was stationed on Okinawa in 74, everything looked just like the movies!! I was always waiting to see Godzilla come over the hill, and start stomping everything in sight!! Especially after a long night in town!! :lol:

My three favs are, in no particular order: Star Trek 4, The Voyage Home Invaders from Mars, this one scared the tar out of me as a kid, and The day the earth stood still. Honorable mentions go to Mothra, Journey to the center of the earth, the original one, and The Abyss
