  1. One of the things I'd like to do sometime is take a big kit -- 100's or parts -- and try it without the instructions -- kind'a like a jigsaw puzzle. In fact I've been hoping we'd get some pre-release pile of parts from some manufacturer to review and that I'd get to do it -- then I know it's brand new, no chance of cheating ... Anyway, nice job Mark !!!
  2. My truck says ... I think I'm in love Great job and a wonderful build article !!!! I have thoroughly enjoyed it and I don't even do cars ....
  3. Rebecca, I think there are early colors and late colors, one being darker than the other, but I don't remember which, nor do I know equivalencies without some research. Do you have a particular timeframe in WW1 ? Might help someone come up with better answer than I.
  4. Hey, Rebecca ... Good to see you here !!! I assume you'll be at the R-12 show in Nov ?
  5. Talk about a minority ... Mack NO. There's lot's of 2-1/2 config's that could be kitted or aftermarket. Any of the White, Mack, Corbitt, Autocar series -- cargo, tractor, COE, wrecker, etc. Dozers, dozer cranes, graders, etc. Cranes, and tractor cranes. Trailers for the above. Also consider 1/48 scale for airfield diorama use.
  6. Are those the 9th ID "Star Wars" dune buggies ?
  7. John, Welcome to the Forum !!! Can I assume you've found the IPMS chapters out your way ? If not check the Chapters button on the main page. Were you able to make RDUCON in Raleigh last week ?
  8. Thanks, it looks "bigger" -- I might think about one. Probably my 2nd favorite after "Serenity" ...
  9. Yeah, I might come up and search that floor for some of my parts -- easier than in my place
  10. Mike, Very nice !! About how big is that assembled with wings spread as you did ?
  11. Bummer ... So now, you going to build it in time for next month's Gallery ? ...
  12. Neat !!! So what's "bagged" mean exactly (I can guess from the picture) ? Do they actually drive them ?
  13. [THE FOLLOWING FOUR POSTS HAVE BEEN MERGED INTO ONE AFTER DIVERTING AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL TOPIC.--FORUM ADMIN] Hmmmm, as you know, when I update the website, I send a email to the reviewers to let them know their review(s) are up and ask them to let me know if there are any problems with our work. Your reply to that email didn't indicate any problems, so I was concerned about what your post here meant ... [John Ratzenberger] Hi John...................yes, I get your notice.........but I do not know if it was edited until after I see it posted on the site................I've alwayz reffered to my oils with names like "Dick Van Dyke Brown", which you edit out and other tidbits like my favorite color panties used to wipe off the oil wash residue that my readers over the years LOVE and expect...........But thats oKay...........They go to several newsletters across the country and IPMS/USA is the only one that Edits them.........but, I understand. It's all good. Dracula said there's no such thing as bad press. (Ed Wood) :) [bun e. Carlos] Jack and John: I edit the reviews, not John. I make sure they follow the guidelines and are consistent Dave [Morrissette] Thanks Dave...................they will be very consistant from now on. [bun e. Carlos]
  14. Hey Mark, great working with you !! Glad to have you on the judging roster now !! Phoenix 2010 ?
  15. Yes, it was -- is there a problem ?
  16. Mark - Thanks !!!! I've got 2 of the 3, not interested in the 3rd, so I don't need to worry about going broke looking for lots of 'em !!! Still would like to know a bit more about the company, when their kits were produced, etc.
  17. For brass it is very useful for parts which get rounded, particularly tubes. Your method, piece by piece over flame, is a good one.
  18. Does anyone know the anything about "Europe Model Kits", a French company -- particularly history and a list of kit releases ? I gather they are an oldie. I picked up a 1/32 1895 Panhard Coupe at Columbus and have since found a 1/32 1891 Panhard -- I'd like to see what else they might have produced. As you might guess, searches using Europe Model Kits return a whole lot of useless information ... Thanks in advance
  19. I also use WEM & love them, but my brushing experience has been spotty at best. Except for quicky touch-ups, I thin about 50-50 and then brush thin coats with plenty of time (24 hr) between coats. I highly recommend test brushing colo(u)r-by-colo(u)r and tin-by-tin as I have had varied results. WEM says brushing should not be an issue -- maybe it's you and I .... I really recommend an airbrush to get the most out of these excellent paints.
  20. Jonathan, Welcome back and welcome to NC & Region 12. If you check the Chapters page, you'll see one in Charlotte, and a few others nearby to include across the border in SC -- you really are pretty centrally located for lots of local contests. If you check the Events page, you'll see RDUCON in Raleigh 12 Sep and it's always a good one. The one in Hickory on 29 Sep is mostly cars but still a good one. And our R12 Regional is 7 Nov in Fayetteville and they always do a good job (funny it shows in events as a local contest but is is the regional). So, a few opportunities to meet area modelers. Again, welcome
  21. They almost moved for 2009, decision ran right up to last minute. Convention Center hotel is a mess; owner said he'd fix it up, but didn't do it by much, now have new owner. Actually need new hotel & Conv Center. So far talk is a move into MO, but it may just be talk to force owner, town, etc to do some serious overhauling of venue. It would be hard to move historically and emotionally, as you know ...
  22. Wifey does Paducah every 2-3 years; kind'a waiting for the AQS show to make up it's mind on whether to stay or not. If it moves to Missouri, it'll turn it into a 3-4 day drive for her due to flaky road network and that'll be the end of it. Anyway, she just had a quilt on display at the Quilter's Hall of Fame in Illinois.
  23. How can you say "real coast" when it appears you're just trying to imitate us with all those high temps ??
  24. If your wife is paying that much per yard then I have a whole closet of fabric for sale!! :D
