TimHortman Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Finished up this long running project recently too. Hasegawa 1/48 Ki-27 Built OOB. Markings are Aeromaster, for the Chinese "Japanese puppet government" I tired something new with the weathering, but am not 100% happy with the results (a little too heavy for my taste).
ghodges Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 I think the weathering is ok, especially since that theater wasn't known for pristine maintenance! Neat markings! I've never seen those roundels before. GIL
DennisTennant Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Tim, I think the weathering works nicely! Great stuff...dt
TimHortman Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 Thanks Guys! The photos look a little better than the actual kit does sitting here (at least to me!) You're right - polishing the aircraft wasn't a top priority!
Mark Aldrich Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 I love the markings.....really make you stop and say....???????????????????????
TimHortman Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 I love the markings.....really make you stop and say....??????????????????????? Yeh, but that's not hard to do with an "armor guy"... (I am just kidding Mark - thanks!)
PaulBradley Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Nice one, Tim - so what's that new weathering method? Looks fine to me.
TimHortman Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 The weathering is with Windsor Newton "Designers Gouache". It's a water based artist's paint. I mix a little in a cup with some water & rubbing alcohol to break the surface tension. I've been using it for a while, but for the Nate, I really just applied it differently. I found that I could not take as much of it off as I would have liked.
Mark Aldrich Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 (edited) Yeh, but that's not hard to do with an "armor guy"... (I am just kidding Mark - thanks!) OUCH...I take back EVERYTHING I said about your aircraft and your armor........just kidding too. Keep up the great work. Edited April 26, 2010 by Mark Aldrich
66Foxtrot Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 That's really, really nice Tim!! What decal sheet are those markings from?
adfogel Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Looks terrific to me! Love the markings. Later, Lee
TimHortman Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 Thanks guys. James - the decal sheet is an older Aeromaster sheet: 48-032 "Nakajima Ki-27 Nates"
PawelP Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 The photos look a little better than the actual kit does sitting here ... Tim, Very fine model. Propeller blades's colour was described in a Aeromaster's instruction ?
TimHortman Posted May 2, 2010 Author Report Posted May 2, 2010 Thank you Pawel, I do not recall any color markings for the propeller on the Aeromaster directions.
