I've got a MAC and want to start posting photos here. I have a photo bucket account all set up with some photos in it. I've tried using instructions I got from a PC person, but they don't work. Anyone have any words of advice/wisdom/instruction?

PS: I know this has been asked before. It would probably be a good idea if there were instructions on how to do this somewhere on this site, don't 'cha think?

You mean directly posting a pic on the forum or giving a link to a Photobucket pic?

Ron,

I recently copied the following from here (or somewhere?);

"For Photobucket: put your cursor over the pic you want to post and a set of URL's will appear below the pic. Highlight, COPY the DIRCT LINK url..

When you come here, put the cursor where you want the pic to be in the "reply" box. Next, click onto the "insert image" box (2nd small box to the right of the smiley icon above the typing area). When you click onto it, another rectangular box will appear at the top left of the screen with a blue "http" in it. Put your cursor over that blue http and RIGHT click your mouse. Scroll down to "paste" and click it. The direct link url that you copied from Photobucket should appear in there. Once that url is there, click the "OK" button and the pic should immediately post into the reply box. If it doesn't, a step got skipped somewhere. Hope this helps!"

I managed to get the image below to load (on my MAC :smiley4: ) using the above procedure.

Good Luck, See you in Phoenix, and TAKE CARE. :smiley20:

NEVER rule out operator error. At least in my case, anyway. I'll give it another shot.

Ralph,

Thanks so much for the advice, but I'm still having problems. I did exactly as you instructed, but when I hit OK, all I saw was the address in the post, no picture. I tried submitting the post, but I got an error message that said "dynamic pages in the tags are not allowed"

What the heck does that mean?

To quote Homer Simpson, 'Why does everything have to be so hard?'

OK, I just created an account...

Here is what I did using my MacBook Pro and Safari 4.0.4...

  1. Added a pic.
  2. Went to image page.
  3. Placed cursor over image - displays a menu at top.
  4. Selected 'Share..' pulldown.
  5. Selected 'More Options'.
  6. Selected Get Link Code tab
  7. Grabbed text link from 'IMG for bulletin boards & forums'
  8. Pasted below.

OK. Now this is getting really weird. To see if I could duplicate Eric's technique, I went to Photobucket. I put in my user name and password and when I hit "Log In", I got a warning that said the website I am visiting appears to contain malware, which is malicious and can harm my computer or operate it without my consent and I can be infected just by browsing this site. I've been to Photobucket numerous times in my quest to get pictures posted, but never seen this before. I won't go back unless someone can tell me what the heck this means.

Sheesh. Homer was right. Everything is hard.

Safari has a built in security checker which uses a Google system to check for malware. I am wondering if one of the Flash ads has an issue.

I did get the same warning after I went back, but it has not reappeared...

OK, Eric. I tried your way and this is what I got. Just the address, no picture.

Got any idea what went wrong?

On the Share >> More Options pop up window, Select Get Link code, and check only the 'IMG for bulletin boards & forums' box

Then in the 'Share this image' box next to the image will always have the correct code which uses the square brackets...
