Ron Bell Posted December 3, 2024 Report Posted December 3, 2024 I continue my journey through the realm of interwar British aircraft with this rendition of the rather elderly Airfix Hawker Demon. With care, it goes together pretty easily which is aided by its complete lack of any intricate detail parts. Even the decals worked well although the roundels on the top wing were slightly out of register. I used the S.B.S. pre-cut rigging wires and they worked a treat and they even include the ring sight for the rear gunner position. I've got a Matchbox Fury and Czechmodel resin Nimrod done and waiting for rigging so they will be up next. 1
VMF211 Posted December 4, 2024 Report Posted December 4, 2024 SWEET!!! That looks awesome!! I picked up one of these a couple months ago....hope it comes out this nice!! BTW.....I really wish Airfix would do a 48th Demon, or even a Hart.
ghodges Posted December 4, 2024 Report Posted December 4, 2024 Very nice and colorful build! It's amazing how sleek and good looking some of the Brit's fighter designs in that time were as compared to how ungainly and ugly the bombers were! Gil
Mark Deliduka Posted December 4, 2024 Report Posted December 4, 2024 That is phenomenal! Brilliant smooth paint and the pilots surely make this pop! Way to go Ron, I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work!
Ron Bell Posted December 5, 2024 Author Report Posted December 5, 2024 Paint is Tamiya Flat Aluminum for most of the a/c and good old Testers Silver for the polished metal parts.
VonL Posted December 7, 2024 Report Posted December 7, 2024 (edited) Nice work on a fun kit! Here was mine, many years ago. The polished cowling was saved for the final step (of fuselage finishing) with masking for a black gloss coat and the old SNJ powdered aluminum. Very, very sensitive to handling, but it still looked OK here: Edited December 7, 2024 by VonL 1
