  1. Since a good majority of model railroading parts come from Walthers: MV Products http://www.walthers....ry=LEM&split=30 If you mean by "#29" catalog number 516-29, the part is currently backordered. You can order directly from Walthers if need be.
  2. The video at the bottom of the article is fascinating... http://www.npr.org/2012/01/15/145141033/speedy-toy-cars-blur-the-boundaries-of-sculpture Direct link to the video:
  3. Ok Mark... I'll admit I squealed like a little girl after I clicked on the link. Another kit to add to the "unbuilt battalion"... Thanks for the heads up.
  4. There was an update released by Woodland Scenics today that was sent to all of their dealers. I read the release on the O-gauge forum that I haunt that while they lost a couple of manufacturing buildings: "Our shipping department, warehouse and corporate offices were spared any damage, as were most of our manufacturing buildings, so it is business as usual." Glad to hear they are going to be up and running... would have been bad to lose them.
  5. David, I don't believe one has every been made. I checked the two main 'resin houses' for this type of car and neither offer it in their lineup. The two were the Modelhaus and Model Car World Automotive Finishes. I couldn't even find a dealer promo listed anywhere though I might not have looked in the right spots. I believe AMT made a 1967 Ford Galaxie but you would need to do a lot of scratchbuilding to make it into the body style you seek. Sorry I don't have better news. Maybe someone else will chime in on the subject...
  6. Hey Gary... Welcome to the forum. I don't know what you are looking for 'specifically' but here is an example. If you were looking for the paint codes for a 1970 Challenger or Cuda, it is as simple as looking for Dodge Paint Codes 1970 in a 'Google' search. http://maxwedge.com/.../highimpact.php If you are looking for one of the best suppliers of correct automotive paint: http://www.mcwautomo...t/newstuff.html They normally do a couple of major shows a year across the country. If you are looking for racing colors, while this business is across the pond and the exchange rate is bad, Hiroboy can't be beat. http://www.hiroboy.c...ex.php?cPath=48 I hope this helps. If you are looking for something specific, maybe someone else will chime in and help. Kevin
  7. So what you're saying is that you won't be modelling a Fireball suit surrounded by Tribbles? I was so hoping for that... Kevin
  8. From MK.com to viewing your work on Timelines and now lucky enough to see the work on the IPMS forum. Welcome Bryan... I hope that people who frequent this board will appreciate your website and the information you share. Your techniques can be applied to many different genres in the hobby. Fantastic work on the Nutcracker dio (or oversized vignette). Glad to see you here... Best, Kevin
  9. Thanks Ken. I know that licensing fees are killing the creation of the modern flopper and digger (and the dwindling fan base of NHRA fans). Even if the kits were popped in gray plastic with no decals, the amount of coin that the auto manufacturers would want alone would raise the kit to over $50.00. Slixx Decals could probably offer the decals for $14.00 to $18.00 depending on the team. The kits might even reach Tamiya costs (between $60.00 and $80.00 per) if PE was included. I don't have an issue with paying for quality but the masses need to buy the kits to make the new tooling a 'break even' proposition at best. The model building community for modern drag racing isn't as big as the interest in German armor. As far as the Pro Mod goes, that could be done a little cheaper because you wouldn't have to deal with the NHRA. Until that happens I'll just keep working on my scratchbuilding skills...
  10. My list is rather easy... 1:24 scale modern Funny Car utilizing the latest in rapid prototyping to make it as accurate as possible (Read: Complete New Tooling, especially the motor) 1:24 scale modern Top Fuel (with the same request as above and including PE body panels). 1:24 scale modern Pro Mod with a fully plumbed and detailed twin turbo motor. (Blow-off valves, wastegates and turbo compressors with PE impellers) No one makes a good modern racing turbo in 1:24... And lastly... 1:12th scale McLaren Mercedes MP4-26. I know the sucker will cost over $300.00 but I don't care... need for Tamiya to tool-up and release a modern F1 car.
  11. Chris, Very nice vignette... I followed the thread on Timelines and read that you stated that this was your first vignette. You're off to a great start... looking forward to the next one.
  12. Hello Carl, Those back issues are available for purchase at the Scale Auto website: SA Back Issues They look to be $4.15 per issue. Kevin
  13. Thanks for your effort Mark and the effort of the rest of your crew... The Museum of American Speed looks very cool...
  14. Alright James... What did you do with the GAU-8 Avenger? Isn't that a little much for 'home defense'?
  15. Tim, With the Airfix 1:32 Aston Martin, you need to look in the slot car realm. I have never dealt with this person and I see others have had issues with their decals (in the past) but it may be worth a try considering you are looking for something besides the Gulf livery. Pattos When you go to the home page, you'll see 'Decals' on the left side by number or alphabetical. Go to 'A' and scroll down about half way to two-thirds. There are a fair amount of different Aston Martin decals available. As Eric said, I don't believe that anyone made decals for this car. I checked Hobby Link Japan and Hiro Boy... HLJ just sells the kit and Hiro Boy doesn't even offer that. If HLJ doesn't have anything, especially since they carry 'Tabu', it isn't made. Kevin
  16. Wow... Looks like the IPMS will need their own personal 'C-130J Super Hercules' to drop off all the donations to the troops. Remember... frequent breaks and plenty of water.
  17. While it is unfortunate that the Hudson family lost their loved one, it is wonderful news that these models will provide those who serve with a much needed distraction while away from home. Many thanks to the Hudson family...
  18. Mark... I was wondering what paint did you use that caused an issue? I've painted about 20 or so of these bodies and have never had a problem at all. These bodies are actually quite simple to paint once you get the hang of it. Kevin
  19. Tim, I know you have probably research the heck out of this but I seem to remember the right side of the monocoque was covered (low) for the most part with not much exposed. This image shows part of the right side of the number 2 car through the left side opening and driver's support: Partial Right Side Audi R10 Slightly different angle: R10 from 2007 Lime Rock I also remember, during driver changes, the outgoing driver standing (sometimes) in that area and helped the new driver with his belts and electronics. Maybe that was just at Le Mans but it was probably at Sebring too... though that might have been during the early years of the R10. By 2008, the right side looks too crowded with the 'in-car camera' and communication antennas taking up about a third of the opening. If you note on the two pics I linked, the lower majority of that compartment looks to be where the battery cells were placed. The gray 'female' plug that can be seen in the carbon fiber is most likely used for charging the car prior to the race. That plug looks identical to what I have seen on other race cars that I have been around. Battery placement on the right side would make sense to offset the weight of the driver. As a long shot, you could try two avenues: One would be the magazine: Racecar Engineering I would purchase this magazine, a long time ago, and it had great technical pieces. Maybe a back issue has a tech piece on the R10... The second would be to reach out to Speed contributor: Marshall Pruett Pruett covers a fair amount of sportscar and prototype racing for SpeedTV and has been around the paddock for a while. While it might take a while to get a response, guys like him will normally follow up eventually... If all else fails, you could always reach out to Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich... I'm sure he isn't busy... This might all be repetitive to you but I thought it was worth posting... Kevin
  20. To my knowledge, no. The company who would be most likely to produce it is the Model Car Garage. I went through their online catalog and while they have a few 1:12 scale PE sets, nothing for the 1:16 scale Nomad. You may want to reach out to them and see if they have produced the artwork but not put the set into production. MCG
  21. Great Job... really like the 'stance' of the car. Mike does a great job with his Powerslide decals. I have many awaiting a model to be applied to...
  22. Nice build Ralph... like the blog commentary too. If we are all lucky, maybe Revell of Germany will get the rights to the Audi R-18. That could be the build for next year...
  23. Well I won't be building but I'll be watching... Very disappointed in the pace, or lack thereof, of the LMP1 Aston Martin (both 007 and 009). A few of the Ferrari GT cars have had issues in morning shakedowns but should make the grid. Looks to be a Peugeot vs. Audi battle for P1. We'll see who is left running tomorrow morning (or afternoon across the pond)...
  24. Thanks for posting the other photos James. I would hope that AMT makes the glue kit sometime soon (with options hopefully). Considering that NASCAR keeps changing the CoT design...
  25. Very Nice... Question on the kit: Did AMT miss the roof flaps? Looking at your sixth photo, there seems to be no roof flaps detail. Great job! Kevin
