Scott, Welcome and besides knowledge, we are a pretty downright ornary crowd. Feel free to jump in on any discussions that peek your interest! Also, Don't forget to show us your works(if you get any built)! MJark

Les, YOU are such a LIAR!!! Back when you were in the Army....they were still using horses!!!!! HAHA!!!

David, I actually wanted to tell him that!! (typically smart deirere self) I need to be more proactive on finding people. The model was there and I knew who to ask for I just didn't have the testicles to go up to the answer and page him. Mark

It was really nice up close and personal at the OHMS show! Wish I had gotten to meet the builder! Mark

Pappy, Color is relative. There are pictures of vehicles coming off an assembly line in distinctly different shades. Add to that how the crews touched up and repaired vehicles affects color also. I don't use acrylics but the Model Master line matches their oils pretty well. I use their OD often as well as Humbrol. The Humbrol has a distinct green to it though. Mark

Great.....Now I gotta worry 'bout SECRET demerits!!!! What's next....Double Secret probation??
-
Ed, Wait....I am pulling my TREADHEAD card on that one! Treadheads use the "CIVILIAN" term to differentiate a Monogram R Mack and Kenworth from my 2 1/2 ton and Opel blitz trucks. There are also bins labeled Civilian vehicle parts to separate them from non-military based 4 wheeled vehicles. Besides, what are you looking at my BINS for? You are supposed to be looking at the ACHILLES!!!! Troublemaker!!!! HaHa If Dennis gives me a demerit then it will be well justified.......TREADHEADS UNITE!!!!!!!!!!! Mark

Looks GREAT to me!!

Dick, I could go with the Gadfly as armor but the Diskhound does not attach to the earth therefore I would opt for aircraft! Mark

Got a little building and a lot of painting done. Based the rounds after lots of sanding on the primer caps. Lots of interior painting so the build can progress Turret close up. The gun will eventually be the same color as the rest of the vehicle.

Well, I guess my Workbench can be added here. This is a Friday night build with the fellas. Needed to get paint on it so I can do some more assembly next week. This is the old Nitto Jerry. Hoping to change out the claw (never know why they included that) with a 20mm from the Academy or Italeri M-163.

Brad, If you use photobucket or some other website, they show up pretty good. Check out my Achilles build in the Armor section. Mark

Found a REALLY GOOD LINK!!! Explains the diffferences between ford and MB. http://www.jeepdraw.com/

Rick, We had bland vehicles because we kicked derriere!!!! We didn'thave to worry so much about camo because we controlled the skies and the ground! We didn't need to hide or concealour vehicles becasue we ROCKED!!! Mark

I know this is later but from 1982-2002, most engine parts block, tranny, transfer gearcase on the M113 series were Green/OD from the factory and overhauls/refurbished were Gray.

Best Pershng Kit: Dragon, Tamiya or HobbyBoss?
Mark Aldrich replied to TheMadKlingon's topic in Armor
Tom, Sounds like a great idea! Best of luck to you and keep us posted! Mark -
Whoever said model building was a relaxing hobby needs to be hogtied and horsewhipped!!! The Verlinden rounds arrived on Tuesday and I got around to messing with them yesterday. They are all too short and the primer plate is too wide to fit in the cradles. So I need to alter 32 rounds and then adjust the middle round support to accept the rounds. I did manage to get the smoke discharger wiring and firing apparatus done.

Kevin, Most of it is about budget and comfort. Most anyplace that sells airbrushes should allow you to at least hold it (unless it is sealed). You need to get one that is comfortable in your hand or hands. I personally would suggest a double action. There are some nice single actions as well. I have an old Badger 150 that I love. I also have the Testors/Axtek A430 with all the tips which I reviewed and liked but it keeps gunking up and not working as well as my older Badger. Mark

Gary, The Squadron walk around is of a G. However, the Osprey book agrees with Tamiya. The large box is a 12 round ammunition bin. The B carried 12 stick grenades in clips along the rear ammunition bin. Mark

Saturdays????? Who builds on Saturdays???? Saturdays are for "Hunny Do" lists, mowing the lawn (or at least thinking about it), LHS trips....to see what they do and don't have, and couch potatoing. I don't build on Saturdays!!!! HaHa.......Hopefully, there will be a picture update on my Achilles progress as last weekend was the McMinnville show and no building or lawn mowing was accomplished!!! Mark
