  1. What color would you call these tracks?
  2. Can't hardly blame him; there have been plenty of times I've wanted to take my bat & ball and go home on websites I have reviews on. I visited this flame blog once that has a massive axe to grind with TA. That guy has gone through some vicious verbal attacks.
  3. His review database was still the easiest to navigate. Click on reviews, click on manufacturer and all the reviews of that make were listed in kit number order. The only thing you couldn't do was to search for all like vehicle kits. For instance if you wanted to see all the reviews of the Panzer IV H, you couldn't enter it into a search field and have all available kits' reviews in one list. You had to know to look through the Dragon, Tamiya, etc. kit lists. Too bad it folded at warp speed. I was hoping it would continue on for a while until someone else was allowed to host it.

    AFV News

The name sounds a lot like George Bradford's AFV News site: http://afvnews.org/
  5. He had a unique way of criticizing without biting the hand that feeds you. He was able to point out the pluses and minuses of the kit without being negative. He could kill a kit with a review, especially if there was a competing kit of better quality.
  6. Most of the tanks around post have been slowly disappearing. The transportation company stationed here at Knox has been getting ready to move some of them as a form of training.
  7. I believe most, if not all, AFVs can go backwards. I'd be an M8 MGS or Stingray, obscure cancelled light tank that can shoot & scoot.
  8. Sounds like you found a kit that someone cannibalized the parts to make their M2 with interior into an M2A2 with interior. The M2/3 upper hull was retooled when they made the M2A2. You should make sure that even though you have the A2 box, that you really don't have just the remnants of an M2.
  9. I read somewhere that it was reconverted back to a standard HMMWV when the M242 was deemed too much for the hardtop to handle. It probably served out its life as a standard M1025 or M1036 variant.
  10. Verlinden makes a set of modern US stowage in 1/72 scale. The box art is a photo of all sorts of stuff sitting on a Bradley, but in reality it is just assorted crates and bags that could easily be used to fill the HEMMT cargo bay. It is set 1887 and one set would be more than enough to fill one truck.
  11. The kit is number 3670-298 I assume 298 was the original price of $2.98. I've included a shot of the box art along with a yard stick. The box is about 14" high and is a very sturdy cardboard. There is a shot with the hull top and sides as well as the vacuformed parachutes. There are two sheets of each color of parachute, they're just stacked one atop the other. The parachutes are created by gluing two red and two yellow to create the canopy. There are a couple of woven straps for the parachute risers in OD green, nice stuff there.
  12. ITC's old M41 Walker Bulldog "Battlin' Betsy" was relelased in the 1990s by Glencoe. It was in 1/16th scale (IIRC). Another old ITC kit that came back to life as a Glencoe kit was the M724 Mechanical Mule w/recoilless rifle. They did not include the wall mount and air drop parachutes though. Another old ITC kit I have the the T92 Airdrop tank kit. This was the tank that was to replace the M41 but was cancelled after the amphibious PT-76 arrived. The subsequent tank eventually became the M551 Sheridan. The T92 is in 1/24 scale as well.
  13. I'll check the kit number to see which one it is. I'll post a photo of the box art and sprues for the curious. I'd probably never built it or if I did, I wouldn't do it any justice. It was a cool, vintage kit that caught my eye, that's why I grabbed it.
  14. Yes, it looks just like an M113, a 1/24 scale one. If it isn't worth any real money, I may try to make it into an M113. Tracks to replace the vinyl kit ones would be necessary, probably try to make a set of Bradley tracks work.
  15. I found an old ITC M113 (actually a T113 prototype) kit in 1/24 scale complete with the styrene plastic parachutes and wall mount so you could hang the 113 from the wall looking like it was being airdropped. Any idea what this kit could be worth?
  16. I slowed down building when I started getting review samples sent to me. Building and completing the model became work and was no longer fun. It was a chore, so I stopped doing reviews. I even stopped taking in progress photos to upload and share because there was really no difference between building for a review and building to show others my work in progress. Now, I build just for myself and my young son. I may take a photo of the completed kit, but most of the time, I do not. I stopped caring about how my kit looked and just had fun building. I'm not criticizing how other modelers build; I know may of them get enjoyment out of super detailing and extensive research and others like to quickly build them OOB. I've often used the analogy of men and their yards. You may just like to cut with the riding mower to get it done as quickly as possible and the retired neighbor next door tends to his immaculate yard for hours on end with nary a blade of grass out of place. Neither one of you are wrong, you just go about the same task differently.
  17. An Infantry Regiment would have had three infantry battalions. You are missing the infantry battalion designation. The 99 would be fine, but the battalion designation would be 1-394, 2-394 or 3-394 depending on whether it was the 1st, 2nd or 3rd battalion. Unless you wanted to depict a regimental HQ vehicle, then it would be just 394.
  18. I do not have any issues, and I look at this forum on two different computers.
  19. Those series of kits are motorized toys that share a common hull. In other words, a Leopard, M60A3, etc. all have the same lower hull and rubber band tracks.
  20. The M10 Wolverine, M10 Achilles and M36 Jackson were done in 1/72 scale plastic by ExtraTech. I would like to see modern armor released in 1/48 scale. I'd settle for downsized versions of Tamiya's M1A1/A2, M2A2ODS and M60A1 RISE/Passive kits in 1/48 scale.
  21. At least his bathroom has toilet paper in it, and not the shelf with the three seashells.
  22. Trumpeter 1/72 scale Panther II, although I am torn between back dating the pretty nice M1A1 hull to the proper M1IP hull. I'd like to do it, but I just don't feel like it.
