  1. Cool! I'll download it and try it out.
  2. Not much progress this week. Worked the paint some, added the canopy and that's about it. Will probably work the landing gear before finishing up the paint. David
  3. I agree. Takes a minute to re-orient yourself, then you can start appreciating the improved layout and functionality.
  4. Yep, they're bringing out 3 different configurations of the B-25. I'll have to have at least one of them!
  5. I may never be able to build it, but I still want it. I'm saving my pennies!
  6. Yes, Sprue Brothers is an online retailer. Not sure if we're allowed to link to other sites on this forum, but you can search on their name and locate them. I think their price is around $3 for a 10ml bottle. David
  7. Hi Ying, I came back into the hobby using acrylics (Tamiya and Vallejo Model Air), but have started switching over to solvent based paints for a number of reasons. If you want acrylics, Vallejo Model Air has paint sets grouped on type and country and are available from most retailers in the US. Like I said I have started switching over to solvent based paints, specifically Gunze Sangyo Mr. Color and as you said, they also have sets based on type and country. Sprue Brothers Models has an excellent selection of Gunze Sangyo paints. David

    Outstanding James!
  9. A quick update on correcting my paint goof on my Bf109G-6 project. Wings sanded, primed and pre-shaded with a little RLM66 - Sprayed the RLM75 - and with a little RLM74 I'm back in business ready to move on to the next step. I'm getting better fixing my mistakes...finally
  10. Yeah, I finished the fuselage mottling and its looks pretty good - It's the upper wing surfaces I messed up on. I think I can re-mask and re-spray and it will be ok - I use an Iwata HP-B Plus for detail work and it does a fantastic job David
  11. Thanks for the comments Dick. The spinner was made easy with an Eduard's spinner mask, but I'm still really proud of how it turned out. This is my first mottled camo and I'm not real happy with it, especially after finishing the RLM74 this afternoon. May be starting the paint job over if I can't correct it. These are the only pictures I've taken of this build, didn't want to document the tons of mistakes I made. ;) I'm going to another G-6 or maybe an F series 109 next and may document that project. David
  12. Making progress on my "Yellow 6" Hasegawa 1/32 Bf109G-6. Working on the camouflage, RLM74 going on next.
  13. Beauty, and grace, are in the eye of the beholder I guess. The venerable P-47D bubbletop gets top marks in my book. It may look like a deformed milk jug on the ground but it's down right gorgeous in the air! David
  14. I own both as well. The scriber/scraper is invaluable!
  15. Vallejo paints are available online from most retailers. If you are brush painting I would recommend the Model Color line of paints from Vallejo – best paints for brushing on the market. Testors, Tamiya and Vallejo Model Air paints do not brush well at all. Smell is not really an issue with acrylic paints, although Tamiya has a ‘sweet’ smell that I don’t find appealing, but some like it. Since you thin acrylics with water or alcohol (depending on brand), thinners are not much of an issue either. The Vallejo paints have a very smooth tough finish, very similar to enamels in my opinion – although no acrylic will be quite as tough as a properly applied enamel finish.
  16. I primarily use Vallejo Model Air acrylics and haven't had any adhesion problems yet, as long as the surface has been cleaned and primed. I don’t believe Tamiya uses a true acrylic (seems to be some sort of blend or hybrid) and I have had issues with adhesion and finish texture. I’ve had nothing but problems with Testor’s Acryl line; I stay far away from it. The Vallejo Model Air line is very easy to work with and results in a smooth tough finish with very little effort. Just be sure to use a light touch on the airbrush and never use alcohol or lacquer thinner to thin it. Usually doesn’t need any thinning and a little water is all that’s needed if it does.
  17. I use the same thing. They're great for mixing and adding paint by the drop. They also clean up easy.
  18. Outstanding work there Gil, but I'm not sure I have the skills at this point. As popular as this scheme seems to be, I was hoping someone had sets available in the larger scales.
  19. Does anyone know if there are 1/32 decal sets offered by anyone that include marking for 'Hun Hunter' or 'Wicked Wabbit'?
  20. All done! 1/48 Tamiya Bf-109 E-3, finished as Galland's JG-26 mount Thanks for looking!
  21. Don't know about the USA, but one of the best I've been in is Top Shelf Models in Owasso, OK. Was just there this past weekend picking up a few things.
