  1. Is that the Tritium.TG Dick? I have one of those as well with a 0.2mm nozzle. I finally learned how to handle a double-action using that brush and your right - it doesn't get any easier. I still use it, but just like the feel of the Genesis.XN better. I tried a number of Iwata and Badger double-action brushes but never 'got it' until I tried the Tritium.TG dave
  2. Very pleased! The Grex Genesis.XN fits my hand like it was custom made for it. It is now my go-to brush for multi-color and more complex applications. The Genesis.XA has taken bit bit more practice but its the only brush I use now for primer and large single color applications. Both brushes are extremely smooth operating and easy to clean. Gravity fed is the only way to go. Less paint, easier clean up and lower pressures.
  3. Wow! Would have loved to see a WIP thread on this build. Especially on paint and finish. Dave
  4. Nice builds!
  5. Lookin' good!
  6. Calling her done! Will probably add a bit more weathering, but its time to move on to my next project.
  7. Wow! is the word. -dave
  8. Outstanding!
  9. Lee, if you like the Aeromaster Warbird Acrylic paint you'll most likely like Vallejo Model Air. I swear it's the same paint in the same bottle with a different label. Don't know the history of these companies as well as others and its been a long time since I used Aeromaster, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort connection back there somewhere. -dave
  10. Polyscale had always been my paint of choice in the past but started using Tamiya when I got back into the hobby. Of late I've started giving Vallejo Model Air a try. I really like the dropper bottles (great for gravity fed brushes) and the fact that I can airbrush straight from the bottle. Paint sprays well, stays put (surface cleaning and priming are important) and has a great cured finish. Almost no odor and seems to clean up easier than Tamiya. There are some gotchas on thinning, but you can avoid them by using Model Air thinner (never use lacquer thinner or alcohol). Don't know for sure, but Tamiya seems like it's some sort of acrylic hybrid to me. Close enough to be called acrylic, but not really if you know what I mean. Vallejo seems more like a true arcylic, not that it really matters. Might check them both out.
  11. Fingerprints, glue smudges, paint fuzz - all present and accounted for Little more progress today -
  12. Not perfect and still need a few touch ups, but I think it will work. Now, what else can I mess up?
  13. Nice build!
  14. Bent clothes hanger, best thing since sliced bread Looks like Murphy followed me home again! Yep, snapped the tail wheel off. Repair underway
  15. Decal time -
  16. Looks great James!
  17. Yeah it does look good, good alternative to the normal blue. Used Vallejo Model Air paint on this one and it seems to take a bit longer than Tamyia to fully cure. Going to set it aside for a few days before going on so everything can dry fully. While I'm waiting I opened the kit that had intended to be my first back into the hobby and started on the cockpit this evening. Eduard F6F-3 Hellcat kit # 8221. This looks to be a fun build, so I may start another WIP thread on it.
  18. Primary paint finally on. Now all I have left to do is a million little things :D
  19. Thanks guys! Gil - I'm finishing it in a North Atlantic scheme. I'll use the kit decals which have the markings for VC-36 USS Core (CVE-13).

    Nice build Paul!
  21. Just realized I posted this to the wrong forum. Can a moderator please move it down to Aircraft? Thanks!
  22. Started building a 1:48 Hobbyboss FM-2 for a group build a while back. Still working on it and I thought I might post some WIP photos here. This is my second Hobbyboss kit, first was an F4F early model, and I have to say that while the extra detail they provide is nice the fit is not so good. A lot of the sprue attachment points are right on mating surfaces which makes it tuff on someone like me with limited experience to get things cleaned up properly for a nice neat join. At any rate, here are a few pics of my progress - Started off with a nice cockpit - until I somehow managed to break off the control stick - Managed to build a new one out of metal tubing that while not to scale, but looks ok - Cockpit and engine mounts assembled into the lower fuselage – Fuselage buttoned up ok, but the wings were a challenge. Wing roots are pretty ugly - Cleaned them up best I could. Learning a lot on this build, let me tell you - Now its off to the paint booth for prime and paint!
  23. Welcome! Just getting back in after a long absense myself.
  24. I believe so. Grex uses a 1/8" fitting and so does Iwata I believe.
