  1. Due to the unprecidented interest shown by companies for additional vendor tables to be made available at the 2010 AMPS International show, we've been trying to work out a way to fit more tables into the venue. We've come up with a way to offer 10 more vendor tables to interested parties (3 of the tables are now left). However, there is a bit of a rub; they aren't be in the main vendor area. The newly available sales tables are in an attached room to the main vendor area, called the "north theater". Although we agree it isn't the best of circumstances, we believe it will suit the vendors' needs while allowing more companies to participate. The room is directly attached to the main vendor area, and we will do everything we can to make sure all our attendees know about this additional area to ensure proper foot traffic for the vendors located there. Our efforts will at least include adequate signage and PA announcements being made periodically. We're also open to other suggestions to help ensure everyone is well aware of the new area. Please contact me via e-mail (at editor@warwheels.net ) ASAP if you are interested in tables. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me as well. Regards. Patrick Keenan Vendor Coordinator2010 AMPS International Show
  2. Thanks for the info Keith. Please pass on my comments to Ken in the spirit in which they were given.
  3. Gotcha Marc. Like I said, I do understand your point 100%.
  4. Marc. Although I agree with your point on the track color, maybe you could have offered some constructive criticism besides just pointing out a negative issue with the paint color. The reviewer appears to be a newer modeler, so let's help him out. To reviewer Ken. I thought your kit construction looked very good; even more so, if you are a newer modeler or new armor builder. Nice Job. However, although I know your point was not to weather your kit too much, the color of the tracks looks "off". When I do tracked armor, I usually use a base coat of a dark drown/rust ish colored paint to simulate the look of tracks that has been out of the factory for even a few hours. I used to use Humbrol's "Scenic Track" color (I forgot the number), but it is either hard to find or out of production. Now I use a base coat of Tamiya Red Brown (XF-64?) and do some dry brushing with gun metal, rust and other colors. Keep up the nice work.
  5. I'm sad to see Terry shutting down as well. But, I wish him luck in his future endeavors, particularly having fun modeling.
  6. Crap. I had heard this might happen, but since I hadn't seen any updates ever, I had hoped it was cancelled. Dang.
  7. The folks at Accurate Armour have sent us "test shot" photos of their upcoming new 1/35 kits, the Jackal 2 4x4 SRV (K177) and Coyote 6x6 TSV (K178). Check them out at http://www.warwheels.net/whatsnew.html .
  8. Hey Guys. We've finally made our decisions on the 2009 Wheelie Award Winners. Check out the results at http://www.warwheels.net/WarWheelsAwards2009.html
  9. Great news! All 75 alloted vendor tables for the 2010 AMPS International Show have been sold out. If you've missed out, you can still be put on our waiting list in case a company (or companies) cancel their appearance. There is no guarantee you'll be able to get tables, but it can't hurt to try. If you have any questions or want to be put on our waiting list, please contact me at editor@warwheels.net . Patrick Keenan Vendor Coordinator 2010 AMPS International Show
  10. Tables are quickly running out as almost 3/4 of the vendor tables are already rented, so if you plan to attend as a vendor, you should act ASAP. Also, another reason to reserve tables now is that the "early bird discount" will be ending on January 15th. If you rent your table before that date, you can still lock in the $95 table rental fee. Otherwise, if we receive your payment after January 15th, the price will go up to $105 per table. Sincerely, Patrick Keenan Vendor Coordinator 2010 AMPS International Convention/Show
  11. In November 2009 we sent out letters inviting potential vendors to the 2010 AMPS International Show, to be held in Auburn, Indiana USA on April 22 to April 24, 2010. Tables are quickly running out as half of the vendor tables are already rented, so if you plan to attend as a vendor, you should act ASAP. Also, another reason to reserve tables now is that the "early bird discount" will be ending on January 15, 2010. If you rent your table before that date, you can still lock in the $95 table rental fee. Otherwise, if we receive your payment after January 15th, the price will go up to $105 per table. 12. For the second year, the WarWheels.Net crew wants to publicly recognize what we consider the best armored car/ WFV related model products released in each calendar year. These Awards are called the WarWheels.Net Hobby Modeling Awards (AKA “The Wheeliesâ€). We will award a certificate to the manufacturers who we have deemed to be the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each of the following three (3) categories: Best Armored Car/WFV Model Kit (Any Medium) Best Armored Car/WFV Aftermarket Item Best Armored Car/WFV Reference (Book/Magazine/CD-ROM) To help us determine these winners, we need some help from YOU. We are looking for you to provide us with nominations for award finalists in the above three categories. Therefore, we hope you can send us 1-2 product nominations for each of the Best Of categories. Your nominated products can be produced in any scale, medium or representing any era, but must have been released in 2009, need to fit in one of the three product categories and need to be Armored Car/WFV related or products that can be used in conjunction with armored car/WFV models. By our definition, an armored car/WFV is any wheeled vehicle that is armored (either with or without weapons) OR a wheeled vehicle that is un-armored, but is equipped with weapons AND the vehicle has a primary purpose of offensive or defensive combat operations including reconnaissance. The only exceptions to this definition are motorcycles. For example, a deuce and half cargo truck with a machine gun mounted is NOT considered a WFV; but a Vietnam Era M35 Gun Truck IS considered a WFV. We will accept nominations until January 15, 2010. Once we reach the nomination deadline, Co-Editor Dave Haugh and I will choose and announce the winners of each award. The finalists and winners will be determined by Dave and me based upon a number of factors including your nominations. Okay, now that all the B.S. has been explained, we need your nominations. Please send in your nominations to the e-mail address patrix1@hotmail.com . We definitely look forward to your ideas and participation!! Regards. 13. Ed. It is definitely not an insider conversation. However, there is a LOT of "history" about this issue, but most of it isn't here at IPMS/USA. You can go to Armorama or Missing Lynx and do a search on PMMS or something similar to find out the whole story. But, the latest chapter can be ascertained from Terry Ashley's blog at PMMS. I have a link to it at my initial post in this thread.
  14. I definitely agree. When I was heading up AMPS' review program I had a couple "issues" similar to Terry's. However, my problems weren't even remotely as bad; Not even close in fact. I have to say that I was a wee bit upset during those times, so I can't imagine how I would have handled Terry's problem.
  15. Well, IMHO what was going on was way more than 'yanking his chain'....

    PMMS To Stay!

Great news guys! Terry Ashley has decided to keep PMMS going. To see more detailed info, check out his blog again. Thanks to those who took the time to let Terry know we would miss PMMS if he were to shut it down.
  17. You have a good point about him not reading the post as he's not a member. Duh. I'll make a change to my post. However, I still think it is important that people know his intentions of shutting down.
  18. Hi Guys. Terry Ashley of PMMS has decided to shut down his site. To see his message,go here . Personally, I would very much miss his site and especially his reviews. IMHO, Terry's reviews are some of the best available of the tens of thousands on the Internet. In fact, they are usually the first that I check. No offense to IPMS or any other site. I hope he reconsiders his decision. Although I cannot speak for anyone but myself, it is obvious to me that Terry's decision would mean a great loss to many. Patrick Keenan Editor - WarWheels.Net
  19. Mike. I can handle this request as I do know about the Buffalo (as it is in my "wheelhouse" of info) and I've been in contact with Chris in the past. I'll e-mail him asap.
  20. I think it was even announced "officially" before that time; even 2006 perhaps if my memory hasn't been completely lost... Anyway, I'd love to see some MRAPS (specifically the RG-31), plastic Daimler, Humber and AEC armored cars and the FAV of course.
  21. Thanks Greg. I've already sent them an e-mail and got a reply... Pat
  22. I'd prefer a place in the US, but I am definitely willing to order with a company overseas. I did find a website called Modellbau Konig, which carried Schatton. However, their overseas postage costs were very excessive so I obviously won't be able to shop with them though.
  23. Mike Starmer, a very well respected researcher and author on Brit WWII Colours, has been posting some "tamiya mix formulas" on Missing Lynx. It just so happens that he posted a message on Desert Pink. Access this link for more info on the Pink: http://www.network54.com/Forum/527528/mess...+mix+correction
  24. Hi Paddy. I didn't know you were also a member of IPMS/USA. It's nice to see you "hangin' around" on this side of the pond.
  25. I got my order in four days as well. Same thing with one of my kit boxes being a bit crumpled though. However, it wasn't too bad and the stuff inside was totally fine. No prob to me as these kits were super cheap.
