Flagship Hotel Reservation Process
Dick Montgomery replied to Highlander's topic in 2025 IPMS/USA National Convention
In 2018 I had the great fortune of traveling with Ron, Ken, and Joe to SMW. As Ron mentioned, we stayed at the Prince Rupert in Schrewsbury. We took a short train ride to Telford and then back to Schrewsbury at the end of each day of our stay. I enjoy train rides so I considered it an add-on rather than an inconvenience. I found Schrewsbury to be an interesting location with an opportunity to walk through the town and site-see, eat at various pubs and restaurants, and to avoid (so to speak) the hoards of visitors that fill Telford during SMW. As mentioned, it's been a few years since my stay at the Prince Rupert but I would stay there again without hesitation. While hotels seem to be "scarce" during SMW, the International Centre is an excellent facility for model conventions such as SMW. I've only been to SMW three times and I wish I could add to that number........it's a fantastic experience, especially with such excellent travel mates as Ron, Ken, and Joe. -
And here is the photo I took of the "monument" to her. The photo is dated in 2022. Note the souvenir stand in front of the monument. Rather a poor location as it blocks the view somewhat.

What? No photographs exist? No plaster castings?! No paintings? What's this world coming to?!!!!

Looking great! BTW- there is a "memorial" to Boudica and her daughters in London. It is on the north end of Westminster Bridge (the Parliament building and Elizabeth Tower are on that side of the Thames and just across the street from the memorial. I've seen articles in print that indicate Boudica was killed and buried near King's Cross Station in London but no memorial plaque marks the spot. If you Google-Map Boudica's memorial you'll note that the view is blocked a bit by a souvenir stand.

"Amazed" is not the word I'd use to describe these fantastic models!

The date was determined by other groups booking the facility a few years ago for 3 and 4 years in a row. Jan 4 was open so we took it. Also, we did not want to go further into the calendar and cause conflict with other Region 6 clubs which already had their dates and locations set. Fortunately, we have been looking at 2025 and other years and we can slide back ModelFiesta during those years into late January, February or even March. -

Received my copy Sept 27th ( I am usually several weeks behind those who get their publication rather quickly) I enjoyed the various articles, finding the work being shown exemplary, as usual. The photos were quite good as well. As for the ease of reading the lighter text, I had no major difficulty with that since I have a bright desk lamp that I switched on. Did I think it was an improvement over the usual darker text? I do like the new lable of IUJ for the Journal? I'd rather leave such details up to the IUJ crew who put in many hours of work on the publication. Perhaps giving the new crew some time to tweak the publication is a positive approach. Thanks to Editorial Staff for their hard work and dedication.

Nationals in 2026
Dick Montgomery replied to ckkohout's topic in About the IPMS/USA National Convention
Perhaps: 1. The EB (2nd VP leading the way) can share a document that thoroughly covers the actions that need to be taken to produce a strong bid, and then....... 2. Work through the DLC to deliver that document to the RCs who will then share that doc with the clubs in their respective regions, suggest that clubs consider preparing a bid.....etc......(basically provide documentation and support to potential bidders) with the RCs and 2nd VP volunteering tips and techniques to build a strong bid to those clubs that show an interest......and 3. Consider creating a committee working under the guidance of the 2nd VP, the committee members being individuals who served on the Leadership Team (Event Dir., Registration Dir., Vendor Dir, Seminar Dir, Volunteer Dir, etc. , from the previous 4 or 5 conventions who are available to share their experience with potential bidders. And, by all means, Require that a Bid document be provided to the EB two weeks prior to the convention at which bids will be presented, giving the EB time to ask detailed questions before and during the actual Bid Presentation -

I've used Gator Glue for a number of years. Never had an issue with it. -

Revell (Matchbox) 1/76 Humber Mk II armored car

A nice job on a model that needed a lot of TLC! -
Impressive "paneling" paint scheme......

This is my first Arma kit and I concur with a comment made in another forum thread about the high quality of Arma kits. The amount of detail and the high quality of the molding is outstanding. Just to show some of that detail here is a photo of the cockpit sub-assembly. A few more bits are to be added. The "fit" is exquisite. A thorough examination of the instruction illustrations is helpful when locating the parts properly. Arma recognized an error or two in the instructions so a separate "flyer" is included that provides a visual "description" of how to fix the issues. It was no trouble at all and took very little time to execute the "fixes".

Very well done and especially on a vintage kit!

In the meantime, I won't be purchasing parts from this supplier.
