  1. No, not this one. I have a very early issue and it does not have embossed markings like some of their other kits did, i.e. 1/72 T-6, Corsair etc.
  2. Thanks! This kit is one Testor's re-issues. I have very early versions but I did not know the decal markings were embossed on the plastic. I'll have to look again.
  3. Yup they are blue. Caracal pulled a fast one. The illustration does show it in blue but when I looked for a blue line, nope just black. I live in Hampton and that's why I wanted to build the kit as a Langley bird.
  4. I enjoy photographing my models as much as I do building them. These are scenes made just for the camera and are not diorama per say. I use Nikon 950 Coolpix series cameras for these shots. Very cheap on eBay ($20 or so) and have great depth of field. Figures are from various sources; Revell, Preiser, Kit Figures etc. Odds and ends are from ebay. Background is handpainted. P-47D, fuel truck and P-38 are Hasegawa and jeep and B-17 are Academy. Control tower is by Airfix.
  5. PST KVII A long time ago I bought many PST kits at bargain prices. I built this model several years ago and except for the metal gun it's out of the box. I think this was the first one I built and I was not familiar with all the cables and tools that Russian tanks carried. I did add many hand holds with thin brass wire. The decals went on beautifully. The track were a pain because some of the single tracks were slightly thicker than the longer sections. So here is this monster.
  6. Monogram 1/72 F-105B This kit was first issued in the late 1950s with moving parts. This particular version is an early 1970s edition. I sanded all the rivets and smoothed it out. I used Tamiya silver spray can for the finish and decals from a very old MicroScale sheet. Actual F-105s were painted with a silver finish which the Tamiya duplicates nicely. So here is the kit with no additions. The markings are from an old MicroScale sheet with those of the 4th fighter Wing in Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina. The yellow outline on the canopy was done with a very thin strip of 1/64" tape called simply pinstripe Tapes.
  7. Beautiful work there Ron. I also enjoy building the classic kits from long ago.
  8. Man that is a lovely finish! Absolutely gorgeous.
  9. Agree with Bob C the instrument panel is really nice as is the rest of the model. Well done sir.
  10. Thank you Mark. This was an exercise in puttying, sanding and priming using Tamiya products. This did not take long to build and I wanted to give it a clean finish.
  11. Thanks Gil! I appreciate your comments very well.
  12. Yeah the decals are black and there is a photo of a T-33 with similar scheme and a black cheat line. I don't know if Caracal used that as their source or not, but I don't really care I built it out of the box with the decals I had. I'm not going to repaint it. 🙂
  13. HAWK 1/48 T-33 1958 The Hawk 1/48 scale T-33 was issued in 1958 and has been issued in various boxings throughout the years. It is a product of the times and with care can be built up nicely. This is an out of the box kit (mostly anyway). I used Caracal decals for a Langley AFB T-33. I blanked off the main gear wells which covered up the mounting pegs for the kit landing gear. That made installing the kit parts more work than needed. So I used a spare set of landing gear from the Monogram F-80. Most of the work was puttying, sanding and priming, and repeat. Primer and white paint are from Tamiya and ADC grey is by Mission Models. There are various versions of this scheme with some having a blue stripe separating the white and grey fuselage colors and some with a black line. The decals sheet only has the stripes in black as are the codes, national insignia etc. I like the pilot figures of the kit and included them. The canopy is separate from the frame and I mounted it with Gorilla clear glue which gives a strong bond without crazing. So here is built of HAWK's T-33 from a 63 year old mold.
  14. Thanks Nick! I appreciate the trouble you took to find out.
  15. Let me know. What color do you want them? Red lettering or White. I'll print them on white decal paper and add a black background. Let me know.
  16. This is a raffle win. Yeah someone donated it thinking he would never see it again. So I'm going to build it. It looks like 1/48 scale and is a perfect candidate for honing my natural metal finish. Any additional info is appreciated. Thanks, David
  17. Gil, That really turned out beautiful. The metal finish is wonderful. Well done sir. I have one on the back burner. I assembled the wings and polished the cowling gaps, but I forgot to include the engines! I trimmed the back plate to be able to insert them. David
  18. Hi Miles, Those would hard to find. Let me look in my remnants box. What aircraft are going to use them? I might be able to print you some. David
  19. Gil, thank you for your comment. It's one of those verbally abused kits. You know, "it's crude, inaccurate, toylike etc". I enjoy building these classic kits for what they are. They are the glue boms from our youth which deserve a second chance. David
  20. Thank you Mark! I really appreciate it. There is still life left in these early kits. David
  21. Thanks RC. My goal was to make the best model out of the box of this 1954 kit. I appreciate your comment.
  22. Thanks Rusty. I figure with today's paints and tools one can make nice model from the early kits from long ago. I appreciate your comment.
  23. First post here. I just finished my Lindberg F-94C. Here she is out of the box with no additions except for blanking the intakes and exhaust. This one represents the Lockheed L-188 demonstrator which was sold to the USAF which became one of the YF-94Cs. There are color photos of this aircraft online which I used to try and emulate as close as possible. My decal paper came in yesterday and I finished putting the correct stickers (tip o the hat to Scott Bregi). The kit was originally issued in 1954 or so. The kit is painted with multiple layers of Tamiya primer and silver. I tried using Rust O-Leam silver but it had a sparkle finish. The orange is by Tamiya as well. The mummified figures were painted per photo of the real aircraft.
