  1. Tru-Color Paint is in the planning stages of developing military paint sets for the modeler. We have about 30 potential sets we could assemble on the drawing board and have produced mock-up art work for all the sets. Our intent is to release 4-6 of these sets at the IPMS National Convention in August of this year. We are requesting the modeler's input as to which of these sets YOU would like to see. Samples of the mock-up sets are attached. These are for the Israeli Air Force Set # 1 and the Metallic Set useful for armor and aircraft models. There will be a poll (or survey) on our website by the end of March showing all of the proposed sets with their composition. We will let you know when the poll is posted on the website so you can vote on the sets we should produce. All military and related areas will be represented - armor, air forces, ships, diorama, figures and detailing and covers the U.S. and Israeli paints (these are the colors currently produced and ready to place into the sets). If you wish to get a jump start on the survey, we can email you a Acrobat file of the description of each set along with their contents. Just let us know if this is wanted by email, this thread or call us. How many manufacturer's request YOUR input on what they should place into production ? Tru-Color Paint listens to our customers and want to be your go to company for accurate, easy to use paint for your models, dioramas, figures, etc. All comments are welcome. Come see us at the IPMS National Convention on August 1-4 in Phoenix, AZ ! Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 714-488-9779 email: tru.colorpaint1@yahoo.com

  3. John & Gil: Thank you for your replies. We have been developing most of the colors listed above in the lab and sending them to several individuals for evaluation. Regarding the Azure Blue, does the RAF color (and any of the other RAF colors for that matter) match any of the WWII U.S. ANA colors ? We have the Monogram books that show a good many of the color chips with the same name as the RAF colors. The Azure Blue ANA 609 is definitely a purplish color as shown by spectra graphic analysis (as well as visual observation) of the color chip in the Monogram book. We have a really good looking match for that Azure Blue and would like to send it (along with a few other colors we have done) to either or both of you for your comments. Looking forward to hearing from you on this project. Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 714-488-9779 email: tru.colorpaint1@yahoo.com
  4. We are in the process of developing the RAF camouflage colors used in WWII plus the green used on the interior of the plane. At the current time we have 8 colors that have been identified to us as being the most useful colors that should be brought onto the market: Medium and Dark Sea Gray, Azure Blue, Dark Green, Interior Green, Dark Earth, Light Aircraft Gray, and Sky Blue Type S. Should there be any other color(s) that should be added to this list ? Are there any RAF WWII modelers out there that would like to help us develop these colors by evaluating R & D samples of the colors ? We would be sending 3-4 colors at a time with up to 2-3 shades of each to evaluate. You would get about 1/2 ounce of color to try. All would be air brush ready and have a matte to flay finish (if they need to be glossy for any reason you need to tell us that !). We would also send some thinner and acetone for clean up. Please reply to this thread to contact us via email for further information. Martin Cohen Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 email: tru.colorpaint1@yahoo.com

  12. We are seeking volunteers with expertise in German armor colors to evaluate several formulations we have developed for Dunkelgelb - Dark Yellow (8 variations) and Rotbrun - Red Brown (2 variations). These are WWII armor colors. From our research and input from modelers responding to threads on this and other forums there appears to be 4 distinct Dark Yellow variations for German armor, depending on year and manufacturing plant and 1 or 2 variations for the Red Brown color. We will send 1/2 oz. of each formulation with each bottle clearly marked with laboratory code (that is 10 sample bottles). Up to three (3) modelers can be sampled with these colors. These can be sent anywhere in the U.S., Europe, Australia, or New Zealand. Each sample can be either air brush sprayed (28-35 PSI recommended) or hand painted for the evaluation. If you are interested in volunteering to help determine what color(s) are the best match for the 2 we are developing currently, let us know via this forum or email us directly with your information. After we successfully match these colors we will work on other German WWII armor colors and ask for help for those matches. Thank you for your input and we look forward to your response. 13. Eagle: Thanks for the info. We feel more confident to proceed with making the FS 36170 paint we already have into the Have Glass scheme. We will announce the stock number and release date after the first of the New Year for modelers wanting to paint replicas of the new paint jobs of those F-16 aircraft having this scheme. Sounds like the maintenance crews have their hands full with keeping the surface intact. Martin Tru-Color Paint
  14. The pictures we have seen appear to be of planes based in Tulsa, OK. Is there any other base where these aircraft are stationed ? The pictures show a 2-tone paint scheme, but a person cannot tell if the nose (a very light shade of gray ?) also has the special properties like the main portion of the jet. It seems the main color is darker than FS 36170, but again pictures are unreliable to give a definitive answer. Anyone seen one of these up close and personal ? Martin Tru-Color Paint
  15. Tru-Color Paint is looking for any help we can get on getting the correct colors for German AFV's used in WWII. Information on all the color schemes on all types of vehicles wanted - particularly Panzer and all other tanks used by the Germans. All years of WWII are of interest to us. The information will be used to make accurate paint colors for release in late 2018. If anyone has information or wants to help develop the colors for this area of WWII models please contact us via this thread, call or email us. We look forward to anyone supplying data that we can use or pointing us in the right direction. We realize that color chips would be nearly impossible to obtain, but if anyone has a paint color or colors that is considered "accurate", we would be interested in knowing about it (them). It is possible that we could send some plastic scraps or polystyrene sheet material to anyone to paint a swatch for us to match. Just send us details of what you have and your address for us to send materials for you to paint. Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 714-488-9779 email: tru.colorpaint1@yahoo.com
  16. Several F-16 aircraft have been painted with a similar type technological paint (radar dispersion & absorption) that are on the F-22 and F-35 jets. The issue is, it is nearly impossible to tell what base colors were used to make the paint. We have read that FS 36170 could be one of the base paints used - can anyone confirm that ? And if it is 2 tone, what is the other base color ? We know that the original F-16 colors (other than that used in aggressor squadrons) were painted in 2 or 3 tone schemes. Does anyone have knowledge that the same base colors were used for the "Have Glass" scheme ? If NOT the same base colors, anyone venture a guess as to the base colors used on the new paint jobs ? Once we get the information, we can develop the Radar Disp. paint for the F-16 using the same technology we have for the F-22 and F-35 paints. Any help would be appreciated in this project. 17. We have quite a few metallic paints in the railroad product lines, and over 55 metallic automobile colors in the TCP-700 series. Lots of colors are available besides silver, gold, brass, copper, tin, aluminum and dark aluminum. There's a light and dark pewter, titanium, steel, plus a myriad of metallic reds, blues, greens and other assorted colors for the modeler. Check out our website in all categories for a listing of all of these and other products. With close to 700 colors in the 5 major product lines we manufacture, we are the largest domestic producer of paint for the model market. Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint
  18. Richard: That will be great. When you have pictures ready we would like to put them onto out website agllery. Martin Cohen Tru-Color Paint
  19. Rusty: Unlike other paints, Tru-Color Paint is a solvent based paint that is single component. That is, it DOES NOT cure so even if some of the solvents should evaporate sitting on your shelf, you can reconstitute the paint using TCP-015, Thinner and spray away. Adding more thinner will not hurt the drying time or intended smooth finish of the paint. We use an acrylic polymer to bind the finely ground pigments we use to the model being painted. This gives the paint a flexibility and why it adheres well to R/C (made of Lexan) and all plastic bodies. So to answer your question - Tru-Color Paint has an infinite shelf life (we have had bottles stored for over 3 years and they still paint fine). Would you be interested in carrying our paint line to go with your ship models ? Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint
  20. We are looking for pictures for our website gallery and for advertising purposes of any models (aircraft, ships, armor, vehicles, cars, sci-fi, railroad, etc.) painted with Tru-Color Paint. If any modeler has pictures of any plastic or metal model that have assembled, painted and/or detailed with Tru-Color Paint, we want to hear from you. The era can be from WWI to modern era. Pictures can be of biplanes, military or commercial jets, WWI to modern warships, U.S. armor vehicles, figures in ANY scale. Not only will your pictures be shown on our gallery that is being established just for military, generic and automobile models on our website, they may also show up as advertising pictures in several magazines we already advertise in. If anyone has pictures they would like to share with us and the modeling community, post them here or send us an email with them attached. We will acknowledge your name (if you give us the OK) on the website and in any advertising where we use your picture(s). Thank you for your help and we look forward to hearing from many of you. Remember ALL Tru-Color Paint products are manufactured in Phoenix, AZ, USA ! Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 714-488-9779 email: tru.colorpaint1@yahoo.com
  21. As many of you know Tru-Color Paint has been in the modeling paint business for nearly 15 years, starting out selling model rail road paint. Two years ago we expanded into the model automobile paint line and now in 2017 we have expanded into the military product line. All of the product lines are the most accurate paints on the market. We can attest to that with the fact that we have over 400 colors in the railroad paint product line and that we supply at least 4 manufacturers of railroad locos/freight and passenger cars with the paint they use in production - Bowser Manuf., ScaleTrains.Com, Exact Rail and now USA Trains. At least 3 dozen custom painters use our paint exclusively for their projects from N to G scale. About 400 hobby shops (including many HobbyTown's) across the U.S. carry some portion of our product lines. The same attention to detail on color matching applies to our military paint product lines. We have had help in this field from experts like Ethan Dunsford, Randy Short (of Snyder and Short), Mike Megee, color chips from customers or purchased. For everything modern the Federal Standard 595B/C, RAL and the BS (British Standard) numbers are matched in our modern lab. Hundreds of bottles were sent to IPMS clubs across the U.S. for paint demos and door prizes. Many more were sent to hobby shops for review. Other very important factors to consider - EVERYTHING in the many Tru-Color Paint product lines is manufactured in Phoenix, AZ, USA; AND that we will NEVER discontinue a color, even if it becomes a slow seller. We have the equipment to make varying size batches ! Reviews on several forums have praised the ease of Tru-Color Paint's use and accuracy. Come try our paint - you will be glad you did. 22. Shown below is a 1/700 Scale Sims Class destroyer hand painted by Michael Megee of the Craig Hewitt IPMS chapter in Phoenix, AZ using Tru-Color paint exclusively. It demonstrates that Tru-Color paint can be hand brushed onto models with ease. The camouflage pattern was random as the model is too small for masking, but the hand brushing technique shows that multiple colors can be applied successfully without smearing the layers. So that the military modeler can see what colors we have in our product lines, we have attached our current flyer that you may print out for review. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Martin Cohen Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 714-488-9779 military brochure.pdf
  23. The USS Ranger shown below is a 1/350 scale model built and painted at Andy's Hobby Headquarters. Andy used Tru-Color Paint for the hull (the anti-fouling red and all the camouflage colors), the flight deck, propellers and the small aircraft. He also used our Tru-Color Paint Masking Paper for painting the camouflage pattern on the upper hull. Among the paints used were TCP-1000 Norfolk 65A Anti-fouling Red, TCP-1010 Deck Blue 20-B, TCP-1012 5-P Pale Gray, TCP-1013 5-L Light Gray, TCP-1007 5-N Navy Blue, TCP-1003 5-H Haze Gray, TCP-1014 Polished Bronze and TCP-1231 ANA-623 Glossy Deep Blue Black. All of these paints are available in 30 ml (1 oz.) and 60 ml (2 oz.) size bottles. We wish to thank Andy for using our paint products to paint this model. If you wish to obtain more information on our military and detailing paint product lines, just reply to this thread, call or write us for the current flyers on all. Thank you for your replies and we look forward to talking with modelers. Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 714-488-9779 email: tru.colorpaint1@yahoo.com
  24. Here is a picture of an M-4 Sherman 1/35th scale battle tank assembled and painted by Ethan Dunsford of IPMS Craig Hewitt chapter using Tru-Color Paint exclusively for the main color and detailing the tank. Among the colors Ethan used to paint this model are TCP-1400 Olive Drab #1, TCP-401 Matte Dirt, TCP-403 Matte Mud # 2, TCP-404 Light Rust and TCP-408 Aged Rust. Ethan is working on another M-4 Sherman which will have different colors and highlights. In the future Ethan will be building and painting more modern armor using our MERDC colors. We will share pictures of these when completed. If anyone would like to get information on our military and detailing paint product lines, we would be happy to send you our most current flyers. All we need is your email or home address to email or send you copies of these. You can request these flyers by responding to this thread, by email or phone call to our office. All of our paints are sold in 30 ml (1 oz.) and 60ml (2 oz.) bottles, and the majority are ready to spray from the bottle with little or no thinning. We recommend an air brush pressure of 28-35 PSI using a medium tip. Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 714-488-9779 email: tru.colorpaint1@yahoo.com , , ,
  25. Andrew: It is a pleasure to service your paint needs. Your order went out via priority mail. Note the the TCP-1215 paint is the lighter color and should be sprayed first. The TCP-1214 is the darker "camouflage" color. Martin Cohen Tru-Color Paint
