  1. Tru-Color Paint is pleased to announce that we have added Spray Cans (also called Rattle Cans or Aerosols) to our ever increasing product lines. The first 4 colors to be released on Sept. 1, 2020 are TCP-4000 Black, TCP-4001 Gloss Finish, TCP-4002 Flat Finish and TCP-4003 White. ALL of the Tru-Color Paint Spray Cans will be 4.5 oz. size (as opposed to 3.0 oz. in most hobby paints) so there is more paint available for the modeler. The suggested retail price of each can is $ 10.29. These are perfect to use for spraying larger areas on dioramas. Then on Oct. 1, 2020 the next 4 colors are to be shipped. These are TCP-4004 Matte Rail Brown, TCP-4005 Matte Railroad Tie Brown, TCP-4006 Matte Concrete and TCP-4007 Matte Dark Red Brick. These will be followed by 4 more colors on Nov. 1, 2020 and so on through Oct. 2021. In total there is 48 colors to be added to this new product line, including many specific military and automotive colors such as Anti-Fouling Red, Interior Green, Zinc Chromate, Hemi-Orange, Rust, Matte Steel, Modern Haze Gray, etc. Contact us at tru.colorpaint1@yahoo.com or call us at 714-488-9779 for more information on these products or for any of our many paint products for the modeler. We have also added many new colors to the aircraft and naval ship line of paints.

  12. We are in the process of developing the RAF camouflage colors used in WWII plus the green used on the interior of the plane. At the current time we have 8 colors that have been identified to us as being the most useful colors that should be brought onto the market: Medium and Dark Sea Gray, Azure Blue, Dark Green, Interior Green, Dark Earth, Light Aircraft Gray, and Sky Blue Type S. Should there be any other color(s) that should be added to this list ? Are there any RAF WWII modelers out there that would like to help us develop these colors by evaluating R & D samples of the colors ? We would be sending 3-4 colors at a time with up to 2-3 shades of each to evaluate. You would get about 1/2 ounce of color to try. All would be air brush ready and have a matte to flay finish (if they need to be glossy for any reason you need to tell us that !). We would also send some thinner and acetone for clean up. Please reply to this thread to contact us via email for further information. Martin Cohen Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 email: tru.colorpaint1@yahoo.com
  13. Tru-Color Paint is in the planning stages of developing military paint sets for the modeler. We have about 30 potential sets we could assemble on the drawing board and have produced mock-up art work for all the sets. Our intent is to release 4-6 of these sets at the IPMS National Convention in August of this year. We are requesting the modeler's input as to which of these sets YOU would like to see. Samples of the mock-up sets are attached. These are for the Israeli Air Force Set # 1 and the Metallic Set useful for armor and aircraft models. There will be a poll (or survey) on our website by the end of March showing all of the proposed sets with their composition. We will let you know when the poll is posted on the website so you can vote on the sets we should produce. All military and related areas will be represented - armor, air forces, ships, diorama, figures and detailing and covers the U.S. and Israeli paints (these are the colors currently produced and ready to place into the sets). If you wish to get a jump start on the survey, we can email you a Acrobat file of the description of each set along with their contents. Just let us know if this is wanted by email, this thread or call us. How many manufacturer's request YOUR input on what they should place into production ? Tru-Color Paint listens to our customers and want to be your go to company for accurate, easy to use paint for your models, dioramas, figures, etc. All comments are welcome. Come see us at the IPMS National Convention on August 1-4 in Phoenix, AZ ! Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 714-488-9779 email: tru.colorpaint1@yahoo.com

  20. We are seeking volunteers with expertise in German armor colors to evaluate several formulations we have developed for Dunkelgelb - Dark Yellow (8 variations) and Rotbrun - Red Brown (2 variations). These are WWII armor colors. From our research and input from modelers responding to threads on this and other forums there appears to be 4 distinct Dark Yellow variations for German armor, depending on year and manufacturing plant and 1 or 2 variations for the Red Brown color. We will send 1/2 oz. of each formulation with each bottle clearly marked with laboratory code (that is 10 sample bottles). Up to three (3) modelers can be sampled with these colors. These can be sent anywhere in the U.S., Europe, Australia, or New Zealand. Each sample can be either air brush sprayed (28-35 PSI recommended) or hand painted for the evaluation. If you are interested in volunteering to help determine what color(s) are the best match for the 2 we are developing currently, let us know via this forum or email us directly with your information. After we successfully match these colors we will work on other German WWII armor colors and ask for help for those matches. Thank you for your input and we look forward to your response. The issue is, it is nearly impossible to tell what base colors were used to make the paint. We have read that FS 36170 could be one of the base paints used - can anyone confirm that ? And if it is 2 tone, what is the other base color ? We know that the original F-16 colors (other than that used in aggressor squadrons) were painted in 2 or 3 tone schemes. Does anyone have knowledge that the same base colors were used for the "Have Glass" scheme ? If NOT the same base colors, anyone venture a guess as to the base colors used on the new paint jobs ? Once we get the information, we can develop the Radar Disp. paint for the F-16 using the same technology we have for the F-22 and F-35 paints. Any help would be appreciated in this project. 22. Tru-Color Paint is looking for any help we can get on getting the correct colors for German AFV's used in WWII. Information on all the color schemes on all types of vehicles wanted - particularly Panzer and all other tanks used by the Germans. All years of WWII are of interest to us. The information will be used to make accurate paint colors for release in late 2018. If anyone has information or wants to help develop the colors for this area of WWII models please contact us via this thread, call or email us. We look forward to anyone supplying data that we can use or pointing us in the right direction. We realize that color chips would be nearly impossible to obtain, but if anyone has a paint color or colors that is considered "accurate", we would be interested in knowing about it (them). It is possible that we could send some plastic scraps or polystyrene sheet material to anyone to paint a swatch for us to match. Just send us details of what you have and your address for us to send materials for you to paint. Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint P.O. 23. Tru-Color Paint would like to enlist the help of modelers of WWI and Interwar period aircraft for the correct colors we should develop for this era. In particular we need help with accurate colors for French and German WWI Bi-Planes plus the linen colors for British WWI planes. Note that we already have 2 PC-10 Olive Drab colors and a PC-12 color for British aircraft. Between the wars, we believe planes' colors were made simpler without the need for camouflage colors. Is this a correct assumption ? Regardless of the answer, what colors were planes in this era painted ? Any help modelers can give us would be appreciated. If someone has data we can use for color matching, that would be great. We pride ourselves on making an accurate product and although other manufacturers may have colors in their line that are supposedly correct for this period, there is no guarantee they are right. If we get corroboration by experts in this field that xyz company makes the correct French Dope Yellow, then that is what we will match. If anyone is willing to help us, our color lab will make 2-6 samples of colors to send them to see what is the correct match for the target color we are trying to match in their opinion. If we are close it would help to know which sample is best and a suggestion on what to add to "tweak" the color in the right direction. Anyone care to join us in this venture ? Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 714-488-9779 PS - We realize little or no color standards existed in this time period, but if any colors of old match U.S. 595 (A,B or C), British, RAL, ANA or other "modern" standards, let us know that too.

  25. Shown below is a 1/700 Scale Sims Class destroyer hand painted by Michael Megee of the Craig Hewitt IPMS chapter in Phoenix, AZ using Tru-Color paint exclusively. It demonstrates that Tru-Color paint can be hand brushed onto models with ease. The camouflage pattern was random as the model is too small for masking, but the hand brushing technique shows that multiple colors can be applied successfully without smearing the layers. So that the military modeler can see what colors we have in our product lines, we have attached our current flyer that you may print out for review. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Martin Cohen Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 714-488-9779 military brochure.pdf
