TimDarrah Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Might anyone know of decals in 1/72nd for a P-6E in the 55th Pursuit Squadron markings? They had the blue disc with yellow swastica inside and aouter ring. I've checked Starfighter Decals, but Mark doesn't have it. Thanks, Tim
ghodges Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 I've seen those markings in pics, but never on a decal sheet. Any way to adapt Finnish insignia? Otherwise, it really doesn't look too tough to make up yourself. The REAL problem is do you have a P-6B/C (as in the pic)? I'don't think that insignia was used on the more common P-6E. GIL

aAzZ09 Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 The plane in the photograph resembles more of a P-12C circa 1930. The P-12E was the Army's all-purpose fighter from 1931 on, until more modern monoplane fighters appeared, such as the Seversky P-35 and Curtiss P-36. The E model P-12 used a cowling, earlier variants did not. In the Navy, the P-12 series was designated F4B, and the most prolific and streamlined versions were the F4B-3 and -4 variants. Ron Bell Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 I may be wrong here, but I think, and I'm getting up there in years, that there was an IPMS convention decal from sometime back in the 80's that had these markings on it. I thing I even used it on a P-12 a long time ago. I may have all that wrong, but maybe not.
